Ian Begley on what’s next for Knicks after Isaiah Hartenstein signs with Thunder | SNY
Isaiah hartstein and the Oklahoma City Thunder agreeing to a three-year $87 million contract on the second day of free agency Nicks losing out on a very important piece in hartenstein New York was limited to offering hartenstein four years for 72 million and they put that offer on the table I’m told as soon as they could right after the NBA Finals uh there was a feeling for days now as we first reported that hartenstein was going to get bigger offers in free agency and it was unlikely that he was going to be able to return to the Knicks not be able to return but return to the Knicks because of those offers and that’s ultimately how it played out but uh this was a tough decision for hartenstein he loved the city loved his teammates loved the organization what happened here last year and I think that if this wasn’t a team in Oklahoma city that was ready to contend or could compete for an NBA title if it was another team with cap space with this offer I think it might have gone differently but the idea that hard can go and compete for a title in OKC he can maintain his ability to compete for a title which he would have had in New York but now in OKC uh that factored into his decision uh but the Knicks certainly made it tough according to people uh familiar with the matter and uh it was tough on hartenstein but now New York has to Pivot right there’s not that many backup bigs remaining on the open market so New York has to figure something out at backup center as they move on in free agency and try to complete a roster and what they hope will be a a title contender in 2425
SNY NBA Insider Ian Begley details the Thunder’s deal with former Knicks center Isaiah Hartenstein. Begley discusses why Hartenstein decided to leave New York and what is next for the Knicks at the center position.

So he traded his starting center spot on a great team to come off the bench for Okc?!! Not gonna second guess this since I think he did what he felt he needed to do for his family, but this could definitely hurt his career looking forward to his next contract.
Robinson back to scoring 2 pts per game and missing at least 6 pts at the free throw line
THOSE ARE THE FACTS !!!!
ROBINSON WITHIN 20 GAMES WILL GET INJURED BY CHOICE
LAZY PIECE OF GARBAGE
Thibbs makes Centers better so not that worried. Glad IHart got his money. Precious is key to back up center and PF, and we can sign Goga and make him a star like IHart
I don't know, man. Going to OKC on a 3 year deal, 1 of which is not guaranteed (so it's roughly 55 mil over 2 years) compared to 4 year at 72 guaranteed money, just kind of tells me he didn't want to stay in NYK. I'm disappointed. One of the points of building this culture of ours is having one of our players look at his team and say, "I'm not going nowhere. There's something special here that I'm not going to have again."
He took the money how is it tough he wanted more money simple
KNICKS MANAGEMENT FCKED UP. THEY HAD THE BEST CENTER IN THE NBA AND THEY LET HIM GET AWAY.
It’s going to be a bad day when hartenstein returns back to his old form with OKC
Omer yurtseven was just waived by the jazz he could be a great pickup he would kind of fill the role ihart did
mixed feelings. but money is king. however the only reason he got the money is because the knicks put him in that position.
Nooo!!! We lost Hartenstein! 😠 I don't like that at all.
Knicks are the Dumbest team in League. Knicks will never get a Championship. Always Poor decision making.
Find a way to snag Sengun during the season during his walk year, HOU isn't gonna give him the max
I get it I mean he had that offer but think about them taxes he makes half that I wish he would’ve took the offer but is what it is thanks I Hart
We made him what he is today and drops us for 10 million more , that i am sure Dolan this organization would have made right down the road. He is a freaking sell out . I mean i am not mad he git his money but what he accomplished here meant nothing to him kick rocks dude for 10 million more.
"What's next for the Knicks after….."..
And what do we get, as Expected, a bunch of filirbustering Nothing, from this "Insider"…..TYPICAL.
So what’s next after? He didn’t answer
They should have drafted that center from Duke.
Anyone else remember how ihart got dominated by embiid so the Knicks put Mitchell in
The league and media would have been trashing the Knicks and saying they over paid if they signed Hartenstein to the same contract OKC did, it makes me sick when I come across some a$$holes shittin on what moves the Knicks make, we get Bridges and the media shits on it saying we gave up too much, and when Philly signs and over the hill George it is great and they say they are in front of the Knicks now, every other teams moves are always great and the Knicks moves always getting shitted on. Even if this team wins a championship the media and league haters will still come up with an excuse as to why the Knicks won and shit on their championship.
Sign Mo Wagner! Yesterday! Resign Precious and if possible sign Lonnie Walker!
We have Sims and rookie as backups and would play Mo at 5 too and stretch the floor!
It’s a no brainer! We just have to be sure Robinson and Randle rehab right and come into the season healthy and ready to go!
He ain’t love it that much then
Blew it not signing Drummond before Isaiah left?????😮

Knicks taking too long to move on, all the free agent centers getting picked up. Might have to take a gamble on a Wiseman or something
This is a blessing in disguise for the New York Knicks because now we have the opportunity to get James Wiseman or Walker Kessler with Mitchell Robinson we will be unstoppable
Gonna really miss that floater, his passing and ball IQ. He kept the offense flowing, all while being a really solid big man on both ends of the floor. Damn what a loss.
