Nice vid, but it feels mis-titled to me. “Who STOPS The Thunder Now?” I was expecting some discussion of possible playoff matchups now that we have this new roster: how do we match up with Minnesota, Dallas, Denver, and Boston and how might our lineups adapt to each matchup? And the real question is, “Who in the NBA scores on the Thunder now?” Our improvement is more defensive than offensive.

Injury is the only thing that can stop the Thunder. The team seems very deep though. Enough to manage minutes and reduce the chance of injury. Especially because the thunder tends to play very fast and even young legs can wear out.

While I am incredibly confident this team made huge improvements to an already deep roster, I’m going to wait until we see them gel on the court before I get too cocky.

Celtics and to a lesser, but cautious, extent 76ers and Nuggets.

The only really crucial thing the team needs is for Chet to develop as a scorer. He needs to become a more reliable third option. He needs a deeper bag and to be more comfortable creating his own shot. That is a huge undertaking that could really push us over the edge. Without Giddey/Topic, we are too dependent on Shai/Dub as the only shot creators.

May I introduce you to the 2014-2015 OKC Thunder, a/k/a “The Season after the last time OKC was the 1 seed in the West”?
EDIT: As /u/0siris0 points out, we were the 2 seed in 13-14. However, the point stands: Weird injuries happen. The 14-15 Thunder were essentially the same team that challenged the Warriors in the 2016 playoffs, but we finished 9th after a 3-12 start. Injuries happen all the time, and the best thing we can do is give ourselves a chance.
Enjoy the success, but no one has been anointed.

Until JDub can reliably score at all three levels, this Thunder team isn’t going anywhere.
