[Pompey] The 76ers are in discussions to try and sign Miami Heat free agent and former Sixer Haywood Highsmith. He could demand anywhere from $6 million to $8 million based on his improved play and impact as a role player.

  1. Would love this signing. Good defender who can shoot. Thats the type of role player you need.

On one hand – overperforming Heat role players are always FA traps, but on the other hand undervalued former Blue Coats also usually become solid role players. Might cancel out?

  3. 6-8m just so happens to fit nicely into our remaining cap space if we were to waive Reed or include him in a trade without salary coming back.

I think we would end up love having a guy like this under nurse

don’t know much about him other than his defensive skills, and seems to be a “dirty work” guy. my only concern is spacing if the guys we get at the 2 and 4 both are low volume 3 pt guys.

I would love this signing and we can keep our picks but it’s Keith idk how much stock to put into this we know how he is

My guess is this is the move if we don’t like any trade options. Release Reed and sign Highsmith.

I’d like this better than trading for DFS

  9. For me it’s Highsmith > DFS. Highsmith a legit stopper on D.

  10. I can’t be mad at this. He’s fine. He’s a minutes eater. He’ll have some good games and provide some versatility.

I don’t think he’s as impactful as the Sixers probably need to seriously contend, but Morey technically has until the trade deadline to finish building out the roster. A bulk of the work has already been done. He has draft picks to work with. But for now, this is totally fine in my book.

High energy guy who can hit corner 3’s right? Get him

  12. Signing Heat role players that looked solid in the playoffs is a lot like signing free agents from those Patriots dynasty teams. There is a zero percent chance they look anything even remotely similar to the player that caught our attention.

Would it be possible to trade Paul Reed, Gui Santos, and some seconds for a sign and trade for Caleb Martin and Highsmith? I’m really concerned about the forward depth at this point. Paul George is gonna need some rest during the season and we just need some guys.

  14. I want him purely because he’s got one of the best basketball names ever; pretty sure I’ve created this guy in 2K multiple times in my life

Would be a good piece but I’d love to get a pf lol

If we can get Highsmith and then like Lowry + Prince/Walker on minimums I would be ecstatic.

Maybe instead of releasing Reed we can trade him for more 2nds?

They should go after Haywood Jablomie
