[Music] I suspect you and I have different viewpoints on where this team is going or gone you are inevitably The Optimist and I am usually a pessimist D I don’t know where you stand on this I’ll I’ll play the role of uh Middle Ground between you two well so Maddie tell me what you think this team is I think this team if they remain healthy is a n910 playin team and I think that that’s legitimate to get to that point how do you get to that point you can’t lose yaka purle for the time that they lost him you can’t lose Scotty Barnes for the time that you lost them your defense has to improve their offense they got it to where they want it to be they’ve added some depth but you’re not looking Bob from a 25- win team to make a major move here you’re thinking about 910 910 as we know in the Eastern Conference certainly different than 910 in the Western Conference so go ahead B go ahead go ahead well I just gonna say like Matt like it seems like I agree with you actually that’s not as Rose Colored an assessment as I thought you might give so I appreciate that um the to me like what they did this off season they have basically told you like what they are and what the plan is and and so they signed Scotty Barnes and Emanuel Quigley long term and what I want to ask you is do you think if your Raptor’s management the the hope is that these guys ultimately outperform their contracts and they end up being their ceiling is higher than maybe what you expected and then they can go from a nine or 10 playing team to like a three or four team like that to me is like the the bet that they’ve made is that if Scotty Barnes could really be a top 10 player and Quigley can be an Allstar then we have something and that that feels like that’s the franchise like e those the questions to those the answers to those questions determine the next five years that’s sort of how I see it yeah I would agree with that and I would also add RJ RJ Barrett his development right you know what you’re paying him I think that that’s certainly something that is a positive and then as we know and they’ve added some depth is as we’ve already talked about it’s going to be really important and we’ve seen this throughout the NBA what are you adding on the fringes right and that to me is what is extremely important as this team continues to grow they are a young team but I really do like having a Kelly alen as a veteran that has been there before that wants to be here that can step out and shoot the three they need three-point shooting they three point shooters as we all know are still young right with Grady dick coming in and Walter coming in and being drafted so to your point Richard yes the these are the two I would add RJ Barrett these are the three we’re making this you know step toward the future and you look around the NBA I I understand why they are where they are given the moves that they made and it’s not a bad place to be but as we all know because we’ve lived through it before you know it takes time this isn’t you go from X to Z and it just happens overnight um the bench on this team has been useless the past couple of years they’ve really had nobody that they could count on do you think the bench will be better this year it has to be Bob and we’re we’re going to find that out as really the season unfolds right you bring in Mitchell and Sasha and those two players you’re hoping they can be a part of that rotation can oi abaji take that next step he’s gonna have to really and this is what’s interesting and we’ve seen this before you you have a player that in practice you know they they put him around the three-point Arc and he’s 100 of a 100 and then in game does it translate we know he can be a great on theball Defender they have to figure out in the final year of his contract Chris bue what he can provide because as we know he was out of the rotation Bruce Brown also is he G to be comfortable uh within a role and can that be something that is okay you can count on that on a night in and Night Out basis I the fact that they were able to trade McDaniels and and is amazing to me to get two players uh coming back because he did not provide any anything and the opportunity was there for him for the taking and he didn’t so I do expect the bench to be better uh than it was this past year and even the year prior uh the interesting thing is going to be where does Gary Trent Jr and all that fall right now there doesn’t appear to be a Marketplace for him um and so that’s interesting and intriguing because as we know it’s you’re looking at the landscape of the NBA and the second apron that is there is just it’s just hanging over teams and ultimately what they’re thinking and not thinking of doing [Music]

  1. They are rebuilding. Signing Barnes and Quicky was a must do. Now build around them and go from there.

  2. This actually isn’t a bad time to be a weaker team and get those lottery picks. The Celtics look like a team in the beginning of a mini dynasty so the next few years would’ve been useless being in the middle of the pack.
