Tony went on a huge tweet storm today. He’s the closest you’re going to get to finding out what’s going on in Ainge’s head. Some of the things he said:

No buzz for Clarkson or Collins. Warriors don’t have enough to make a Markkanen trade worth it. But we could still see a trade for someone in the next three weeks.

Next year’s draft is stacked. The top 5 players could have all gone #1 this year. No one is going to be able to trade into the top 10. The Jazz could still be near the bottom of the West even with Lauri, unless someone like Keyonte jumps up a level.

They’re also excited about letting Gabriele Procida develop in Europe for one more year.

All of his tweets today make sense. I honestly think trading away Sexton and maybe another vet or 2 but keeping Lauri is the most likely course of action.

As long as Lauri’s on board I have no problem stripping the roster down to a bunch of rookie contracts around him and aiming for a top pick next year.

Unlikely we’ll win 25 games with a roster like that even if Lauri plays like an All-Star.

If Lauri isn’t on board with a full rebuild we should extend him in August and trade home before the deadline to a team ready to win now and gather more attests.

  4. Same page just different timelines. Just like me and my ex.
