Woj: Any moves the Lakers could make would be ‘around the edges’ | SportsCenter

well Wednesday was windfall day for the James family as LeBron senior and Junior got new deals sources told Adrian wowski that LeBron agreed to return to the Lakers on a 2-year $14 million contract that includes a player option for next summer and a no trade clause LeBron averaged 258 and seven in his 21st year in the league last season as for bronny sources told Dave MC minimum that he signed a 4year $7.9 million contract with the Lakers today the last year of the deal is a team option La selected bronnie with the 55th overall pick in the draft six days ago he and first round pick Dalton connect will make their summer league debut Saturday in San Francisco against the Kings all right for a little more insight onto what the Lakers could be doing in the near future we bring in ESPN senior NBA Insider Adrian wowski all right so they get the James family locked up then they add Nate McMillan and Scott Brooks Two veteran former head coaches in the league to JJ reck’s staff so they’ve got that all together what are they going to do next now it probably wait this is going to be a summer I think and it’s not just the Lakers around the league where things are going to play out over time you’ll have front offices in Sacramento and Las Vegas for summer leagues coming they’ll talk there but these new salary cap rules that second apron which is largely acting like a hard cap for teams is really limiting movement in the league and I think for the Lakers having three future first round picks available to trade teams are more much more cautious about just giving up picks you’ve heard a word around the Lakers more than you’ve ever heard development it was why they went after Danny Hurley at Yukon and it’s been a big theme uh so far you’ve heard from JJ reck you’ve got a draft well in this league you’ve got to develop your players that the cap just doesn’t work for teams especially big Market teams just trading for like a third star that is that is almost impossible for the Lakers to have that so I think any of the moves you see this summer they’re going to be around the edges there are not wholesale moves for them to make there are not great players available right now and the Lakers AR in a position financially to necessarily even get involved um if there is one yeah so Laker fans are more hopeful than maybe any fan base they always expect the team to do big things but the reality of the league right now W is they need to temper those expectations maybe then absolutely yeah well we’ll see what happens in the summer league and oh by the way there’s always a trade deadline once a season starts Adrian rinowski here on Sports Center [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause]

Adrian Wojnarowski joins SportsCenter to discuss what could be next for the Los Angeles Lakers after signing LeBron and Bronny James to deals as well as hiring Scott Brooks and Nate McMillan as assistants on JJ Redick’s coaching staff.

  1. When I saw the video name I was thinking wouldn't it be funny if they said. What can the Lakers do to build around their Big 3 of Lebron James, Anthony Davis, and Bronny James. =)

  2. 🚨BREAKING: DeMar DeRozan has been traded to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Kevin Huerter, Colby Jones, 2027 second round pick source tell Adrian Wojnarowski by ESPN🚨

  3. Lakers won't need the Play in Game to work their way into the Playoff like they did this past Season. That is going to IRK all these Blankers. Nor will they need any of these OLD as DIRT free Agents that everyone else is Signing. That is also going to IRK all these Blankers. If Bronny could Clown all his Blankers, that would just be icing on the CAKE.

  4. ESPN needs to stop. We are tired of Leblame and the lakers. How about the other teams??

  5. Pretty embarrassing situation, college coach didn’t want to be bothered, a player whose Dad played for the team didn’t want to join.

  6. Funny, Lebron James got his son drafted with 4 year gurantee deal and now he is not giving back 1 million back to lakers to avoid second apron. 😂😂😂 why would lakers even given lebron 52 million instead of 51 or 51.5 million to begin with?. Now they are hoping to have lebron to take 1 million cut after lebron and lakers agreed to max deal😂😂😂😂

  7. All this attention for a team that was already 7th in the west, and haven’t even improved the roster 😂😂😂😂😂.

This is a team that is going to struggle to be in the playoffs. Again

  8. First of all, Bronny signing a 4 year deal worth almost $2 mil per year is just flat-out robbery. That's the highest contract for a pick that low in NBA HISTORY. RIDICULOUS. Last year's #55 pick signed a 2-way contract worth 560K. So tell me again how he's "earned" it?? Tell me again how it's NOT nepotism.

The only ones that don't think it's nepotism are the Nepo-GM and the Nepo-Coach, BOTH of whom were also GIFTED their positions with the Lakers based on WHO they knew, even though they were GROSSLY underqualified. (Something Pelinka has proven EVERY. SINGLE. OPFFSEASON.)

Secondly, this Lakers team is DONE. There is NO move the Lakers can do under the current CBA that will allow them to make any sort of meaningful improvements. This team is a fringe play-in team. AT BEST. Again. Thanks to Lebron and Klutch's meddling with the front office's decision-making process and mortgaging the team's future in order to enhance Lebron's INDIVIDUAL legacy over that of the Franchise.. Thanks to Lebron and Klutch, the Lakers will be mired in mediocrity for the foreseeable future.

But hey, Lebron gets to play with his kid. Meanwhile the fans get to watch a crappy, uncompetitive, irrelevant team for the next decade. Congratulations.

Lebron's time with the Lakers can be summed up in one word: DISAPPOINTING.

  9. Who told y'all years ago this 'win now' LeGM run was going to end ugly? Was it Groot? Hmm

That bubble ring ain't so shiny now is it?

  10. 3 team Trade idea

Lakers receive: Jerami Grant, Jevon Carter and the Bulls 2029 second round pick

Blazers receive: Lonzo Ball, the return of their first round pick they owe the Bulls, the Bulls 2028 First round pick, the Lakers 2029 First round pick

Bulls receive: D’Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, Matisse Thybulle

  11. Draft Bryce in 2 years and Zhuri in 10 years. Have Gloria James replace Linda Rambis as Jeanie’s new BFF. Replace Rob Pelinka with Savannah. Mutiny complete.

  12. Lebron, you're never winning another ring. You will forever have a 60 percent finals loss rate. It's a wrap. Pad your stats all you want.
