“Yes Lauri is fine. The Jazz have talked to him and kept him in the loop every step of the way. Lauri wants to win a championship. The Utah Jazz want to win a championship. They are on the same page” – Tony Jones

Reliable reporter for the Jazz. Looks like the odds of this trade happening is a lot lower than what most Warriors journalists are stating.

Why can’t their hopium be as strong as our hopium?

Logically I’m not sure how long a player in his prime is willing to tank.

  2. KevJamesS

I’m 99% confident that if Kuminga is not in talks which is what I’m hearing being reported then Ainge ain’t even considering the deal.

  3. Orphasmia

Could be bait for a more competitive offer.

Logically, if I wanted to win a championship I’d go to the team that won two years ago, has much of that team still on the roster, and won four in the last decade over the team that has *never* won one, and threatens to trade me every deadline and offseason.

  4. riotnerfjg

I mean what else is a jazz reporter supposed to report? “Lauri is pissed and wants a trade asap”

  5. RidiculousNickk

I want Margot Robbie and Margot Robbie wants a tall, fit, handsome, wealthy, smart man. We are surely on the same page (I’m ugly and broke)

  6. livecents84

lol Lauri wants to win a championship and Jazz want to win a championship even though they have no current path to do so in the next decade

  7. marionettas

The Jazz want to win a championship?? Our chances are obviously very low but surely we’re still more likely to win the championship during his prime than the Jazz, right? I mean, he’s already 27.

  8. laidback030

It’s obvious they aren’t on the same page. Their timelines don’t match. And I know I’m biased but JK/Moody are a better fit for what Utah needs right now

This is standard speak, they’re not going to dangle their best trade asset out in public to risk upsetting him and destroying any leverage they might have on other teams.

  10. Cool_head1

I just figured out that Lauri is 27 are we sure he’s cool with tanking once again? Lol

i cant imagine ainge passing on another teams 5-6 years of first round picks, especially when that team’s star is old

  12. Sounds indecisive, they could cash out for picks and rebuild, or push their chips for a more competitive roster.

If they think Lauri is a 1st option on a championship team, they should go for it. But he is already in his prime and they only won 31 games. He is more of a 2nd/3rd option type of star, especially with a weaker defensive game.

I think the rebuild is more enticing, they will have a hard time luring other stars to play with Lauri in Utah of all places. It’s not going to happen this season, and the West will be strong the next few years, likely until the expansion, where teams will have to give up players and the league will dilute.

It’s easy to be on the same page but what are the Jazz doing to make moves to become a contender?

I might be wrong, but the last deep playoff run by the Jazz was seen in the 90s. Over the last two decades, when they’ve made the playoffs, they have been predominantly first & second round exits —often completely blown out.

It’s not for a lack of trying with the talent they’ve had, just about bringing in pieces that fit. Lauri will not see a deep playoff run/finals within the next 4 years imo. Whether it’s to the Warriors or another organization primed for contention, he will have to leave in order to win a ring in his prime. He can still be a consistent contributor & perhaps superstar later in his career if he decides to leave if the Jazz don’t become what they need to.

However, what will the state of the league be by that time? Will he be healthy enough? Will there be cap space on a team where he wants to go? Dealing in “ifs” is dangerous. Of course there are never guarantees with anything but you do increase your odds surrounding yourself with exceptional talent & an organization that does what it takes to get to the big dance.

  14. itsavirus

I would love him but I really do not see this happening with how much Ainge loves to be overpaid for his players.

  15. I refuse to take anyone that mentions “Utah Jazz” and “Championship” in the same sentence seriously

  16. spidermanisthebest

dudes been tanking his whole career, i just don’t see if they want to tank and then get flagg wouldn’t the timelines just don’t match

  17. Beastumondas

Seems clear that Lauri wouldn’t fit with all the teams out there that would hate to win a championship…

Honey, I have great news! I went to my boss today and said, “Boss, I want a raise.” He looked at me said, “I want a raise, too!”

So are you getting the raise?

No. Neither of us are as long as we stay at this company.

They might be on the same page but the book they’re reading is a Choose Your Own Adventure

  20. HamsterCapable4118

Warriors are not even in talks for Lauri. I don’t know how all this got started but it’s literally all just made up.

  21. WisdomCow

The Paul George non-trade works in our favor now. We’d have been a clear contender if we had gotten PG without gutting the roster. Clippers wanted too much to be induced. We called their bluff and now they are fucked. Danny Ainge ain’t dumb. The landscape of the league is not ideal for him after the new CBA went into effect. Most of the big boys already pulled the trigger on other deals. There simply are not a lot of viable suitors for Markkanen, and come the trade deadline, he’s going to need to be moved or risk losing him like LA lost PG. Tick, tick, tick.

Not saying we are going to get him. Just saying there is a legit chance, and I don’t see Ainge getting a huge payoff this time.

  22. hoodtalk247

Lauri if you come here and play with JK we are gonna be championship

  23. bayelrey888

Totally could be the Jazz baiting teams to give up more assets if they feel like they don’t have a strong enough chance to land him. Or else why listen to offers anyway?

If Lauri is willing to take less money and UTA isnt remotely a FA destination, Danny is just stacking picks hoping to build via the draft and maybe get lucky on a star with a big enough stock pile. He wants picks or young horses he can flip into MORE picks 😂. OKC is his prototype.

I wouldn’t look too deep into this, feels like posturing.

  24. rarestakesando

Hey kid what a candy bar?

    Yeah me too

    Same page.

  25. karnivoreballer

I took this as Lauri saying get me to a destination that can win and Jazz saying we’ll get you there if we can get a haul back that will eventually allow us to contend. 🤷🏽‍♂️

  26. Strikebackk

What better than winning with the best point guard in the league.
