AC stats that are better than fireworks that you gotta read🧨

I keep having conversations with people that think AC is okay but not even in Dort’s league. I won’t slander Dort, but if he’s your standard for impactful defender then let’s use him for a comparison. The results are better than that Excalibur you’re waiting to light up tonight 🎆

Defense is notoriously difficult to rate, but chances are if someone performs well in several areas, he’s probably worth his 🧂

But if he shows up everywhere… well that just doesn’t really happen. Also, remember that guards usually rank far lower than bigger guys due to impact, except for steals.

I’m super hyped about this signing, and the man deserves his flowers and an extension ASAP.

Alex was 3rd in steals by a guard, just under SGA with 120

Dort had 72

Alex was 3rd in blocks by a guard, just above SGA with 70

Dort had 47

He’s also theleague leader in deflections of any position per game, 2 spots ahead of SGA

He’s also top 5 in any position in recovering loose balls per game

He’s also6th in contesting 3’s, right behind SGA

In the metrics you see here, he’s 5th in defensive rating and the next guard isn’t until 22nd

So its no surprise that he’s also rated the most disruptive player in the league, by far when using the metric raDTOV

It’s worth noting that Dort didn’t get top 10 in any of these metrics.

I find it hard to say this man is being overrated.

Its hard to compare when how they approach defense is different.

Dort is a clamps on kind of guy he will stay on you, without really swiping at the ball at all, but you can be assured he will stay in front of the player 100% of the time like glue.

Caruso is elite at letting his guy pass through only to swipe the ball just before they get the shot of. He has elite awareness on when is the ideal time to get those swipes. Some of them count as steals some of them as blocks.

Dort causes teams to “turn the ball over” through bad shot selection. Caruso has the steals/blocks down. Its hard to say you want one over the other. But its ok to say youd prefer carusos offense more.

With all the AC and dort comparisons you’d think we traded dort for caruso. We traded him for giddey…regardless of whether he’s a better defender than dort or not, he’s a better defender than giddey which is absolutely an upgrade.

We have Dort and Caruso and even Cason. No need to compare them because they’d be switching on and clamping down the opposing team’s best player anyways.

this might be the best defensive thunder team we will ever see

  4. The Starting lineup is SGA, Jdub, Caruso, Chet, Hartenstein

So you have MVP and a All-Star level player in your backcourt. You have All-Defense and Future MVP player in your Front Court…. And to Glue it all together you have Hartenstein… [The Dennis Rodman: I don’t need the ball to make a difference award winner last season](https://youtu.be/n5ylxIa5Sm4?t=798).

A player that secretly has MVP Upside that has never been used correctly.

Good luck stopping OKC NBA. You are going to need it

I think the style of defense they play is a bit different. Dort is more on ball, point of attack, while Caruso has played more in passing lanes and off ball. Not saying he can’t play on ball.

That said….I’m just glad we have both. That’s 2 Top 10 point of attack defenders two consistently make life hell for opposing scorers.
