Can’t wait til the Supreme Basketball Court declares Lebron a king and gives him the power to make and veto all trades with immunity

So say Zach LaVine gets bought out only non-apron teams can sign him?
Feel like Rich Paul is angling for this from the bulls
CookieMonsterNova

Why did it need to be this convoluted?
Yinanization
Um, somehow I thought it was more severe. I thought 2nd apron team can’t get buy out players at all.

If you want to make a trade, you can. Except when you can’t. Which is basically half the time. Now here’s where it gets tricky…

The main story here is—for example, Kyle Lowry traded to Charlotte, bought out, signed to Philadelphia. Those are the kind of deals, for expiring veterans, that a fair few playoff teams won’t be able to make this season. Which is going to further put pressure on the trade market. If you wanna make deals, it’s gonna be via trades. Which helps bad teams like Detroit who will gain assets to take on contracts from other teams so better teams can take in salaries they want.
This rule hurts those older veterans like Paul, Lowry, etc. They’re the ones usually being bought out in deals like these.

It feels like this new apron rules were implemented and teams & players were like “nah we’ll keep doing what we’re doing” and now there’s a bunch of teams cruising over both aprons.
Few teams took this CBA serious enough.

So basically the buyout market is over because most competitive teams will be above the first apron
Hovi_Bryant
This is to stop an obvious contender from signing someone who’s clearly worth more than they can only afford to spend.
Like if Chris Paul were waived mid-season, the Nuggets wouldn’t be able to pick him up for cents on the dollar. These signings have always rubbed fans and probably other teams the wrong way.

Just go to a hard cap man makes shit so much easier and if you lose a player you can instantly replace them with a player of the same salary rather than this eerid soft cap where it’s so easy to lose a starter and you literally can’t sign anyone except a min to replace them.
Shingorillaz
The owners really got as close to a hard cap as possible man

This CBA is literally the most confusing thing ever created by humans

The 2nd apron seems even more excessive the more we learn about it… but this seems like the rare example of something that actually makes sense and has the intended effect.
