the Nick sent Shake Milton and mamady diat to Brooklyn on Thursday to finalize the male Bridges trade now this added salary allowed the Knicks to avoid the first apron hard cap because before this they were sending out less money than they were taking in in the trade by adding these players to the trade they’re sending out more money than they’re taking in so they avoid that $178 million hard cap at the first apron and that’s big because it’s going to allow the Knicks to use their $5 million taxpayer mid-level exception if they choose it’s going to give them some wiggle room to added uh veteran free agents if they’d like to on veteran minimums deals and also with prea they have his Bird right so they can make him a significant offer if they so choose they can spend up to 189 million in team salary after this move on Thursday and now the Knicks turn their attention to backup center because they still have to replace Isaiah hartenstein who Departed for OKC uh Nicks have been monitoring the trade market veteran centers younger centers bigger contracts smaller contracts Walker Kessler out of Utah among them a source confirmed so I assume the Knicks will continue to do that to look at their options uh the backup center Market in including continuing to talk to Precious atua who they H they have had contact with as they look to fill that void at backup center
