[Timpf] The Lakers had the 4th best record after Jan 7th (46 games). They won 47 games. They were tied for the most wins in the league with Boston against top-10 point differential teams. They won the IST. They weren’t good enough to win the title. But they absolutely were not “bad.”

Ok? They weren’t close to contending, so what’s Jason’s point?

Timpf coming to the Lakers defense against Laker fans on social media lol

He’s not wrong. We are a very good team with some specific flaws. Ideally we can fix some of those issues with a trade. We are certainly not that far away and should be a strong playoff team heading into the season. Sucks seeing OKC and Dallas improve, but we’re not too far away from the rest of the West imo

This is true AND this is a reason why someone rational would feel like you’re actually closer than credit is being given So make the two moves.

    Whatever the two moves are.

go all in on the last real LeBron James year or two, and with luck you could be at the doorstep. The team is good to very good, it’s just a couple flaws away.

I’m not even trying to be a doomer but they were also one Zion injury away from getting their cheeks spread by the Kings in the second play-in and missing the playoffs entirely

This team under Darvin Ham was one of the most inconsistent teams ive ever watched, its almost impossible to properly evaluate them and they could finish anywhere from 5-12 next year

We’re basically a tier 2 team. Good enough to make 2nd round if the chips falls the way we want. But no way we can win a chip unless we get absolute crazy luck. There’s no way we can win a chip without an asterisk basically, which I would be delighted to take.

If we can get Gabe and Vando healthy and integrated, I do think we are already incrementally better as a team. And if guys like Max/Knecht replace the Prince and Reddish minutes well, there’s improvement there as well. But not enough to be a real contender

All Ham had to do was not play shitty lineups.

Reddish started a quarter of the season.

He has a brain and who knows. Maybe they’re the 3-5 seed and can win the first round. Then who knows

  7. I like Timpf. He understands the game, I just wish he could get away from Cowherd who is absolutely braindead. It’s really sad watching Timpf have to smile and nod while Cowherd reaches for his next absurd hottake.

If only they could have faced opponents who were missing elements of their core they could make it to the nba finals and maybe even win

  9. Denver matches up with the Lakers too well. And heavily out coached which wasn’t too hard with Pocket Ham doing absolute shit.

Minny matched up with Denver with their size and defense style.

It’s all about matchups and the key is depth and health. Boston built their depth and youth. They had players for each game style and guys who played with effort.

We need center depth. We need shooters. Hopefully JJ is the coach we needed to make adjustments IN GAME and through playoffs.

I forgot what day it was earlier this week that ESPN had the all star lineup of Lakers haters trying to make it sound like we were in the running for the #1 pick last season or something. We weren’t top 5 in the league but no where near bottom 5 either

  11. Darvin Hamas decided to punt the season any better coach Lakers are probably in the finals.
Stupid bozo wasted a healthy AD season SMFH

Running it back after a gentlemen’s sweep lol

The west will be even more competitive this year than last year.

So many people trying to argue that not improving is actually a good thing. They’re on the bargaining phase of grief. The Los Angeles Lakers and their fans should never be content with mediocrity

  15. BearShark8

Agree but the team is extremely reliant on two guys. AD played 76 games last season. Gotta hope he can play at least 70 next season to be in the top 6.

  16. Various-Effective361

Nobody cares about this. We’re not happy with mediocre.

  17. EverybodyBuddy

I didn’t love anybody “available” right now once Donovan Mitchell was off the board. Blowing our 2 FRPs on scraps would be Deng and Mosgov all over again.

If we’re not facing Denver in the first round I think we’re in the WCF. And we could definitely beat Dallas.

  18. BruisedBee

They were at a semi competent coach away from winning at least games against the Nuggets.
