  1. Huhhh that’s a fuckton of money for him i’m sorry (depending on much is guaranteed)

  2. smoltanboi

franz fucking rocks but it’s wild to think of him earning 50m a year. nba deals are insane

  3. Literal_Satan

270 for franz wagner we live in crazy times

  4. legend023

This is devastating to every single team with a fringe all star because that player is gonna see this and say “well I’m better than franz wagner”

  5. msterling2012

If his shooting doesn’t come back this is going to be a not great contract.

  6. Main-County-1177

I’m forcing my children to hoop bro. NBA money is getting crazy

  7. This is really the golden age for promising young players with these contracts

  8. ZoroChopper10

When i saw the breaking, I thought big trade was going on

Well I guess Germany can be happy about this after loss in euros

  9. That’ll make him feel a bit better about Germany being knocked out

  10. EarthWarping

Likely 5/225 with incentives, same wit hScottie

  11. Assuming Paolo gets a similar extension after next season, Magic are gonna be an interesting team to watch develop over the next few years.

  12. Atlanta-Anomaly

It’s genuinely insane how much money is in sports.

  13. Nodecafallowed

Franz and Steph making the same money what a time to be alive

  14. Just isn’t a max player. There’s gotta be middle ground between a max contract and a role player contract

  15. sobanoodle-1

Love me some franz. But DAMN. Orlando tickets about to be a band 😩

  16. OfficialPeenLicker

This man’s first pic on Google is kinda creepy

  17. I really like Franz, but not everybody has to sign a max contract. It’s not a slight to a player of Franz’s caliber to take like a 5 year $175M contract. That is still a lot of money.

And he would have been a RFA next offseason so the Magic could have just matched any contract offer he received. Franz isn’t a good enough player to go all-in on a rookie max extension the offseason before his contract is up.

  18. Westbrooks3ptShot

Franz has games where he looks really good and max deserving, but those games are not nearly consistent enough to get the full max imo. Not sure what other options Orlando had though and you gotta use your money

  19. And Knicks fans think Brunson is taking a cheap deal…

  20. sodmoraes

Why his max is bigger than Maxey, who was an allstar?

  21. BabaBrody

Tobias Harris smiling down from heaven watching this level of bag securing.

  22. alldaylurkerforever

So when does this contract kick in? 25-26 or 26-27?

I’m always confused on if the extension starts during the team option year, the Qualifying Offer year or after the QO year?

  23. Hungry_Bat_2230

    cornerstone for the Magi?

The *3 Wise Men* got their guy.

  24. CallMeKerm

He was always going to get the max. 22 year olds with his size, two-way ability and upside don’t grow on trees.

The shooting was bad last year, yes. But he was 36% his first two years, which is a much larger sample size. He also played basketball for basically a year straight last year with the FIBA World Cup and his shot looked flat all year. I don’t think it’s crazy to expect a 22 year old that shot 36% from 3 his first two years and averages 85% from line for his career to improve from the 28% mark he had this past year.

  25. wait is that a typo or do they call themselves the Magi?

e: twitter cut the tweet off, that would be funny though

  26. Camctrail

At this point Ben Simmons might finesse his way into another $30mil annual contract

  27. AllOutRaptors

If Bill Dimmons thought Scottie wasn’t worth 270 then wait til he hears about this lmao

  28. toastiestnuggets

I feel the same way about a lot of these deals tbh.
for the team, it makes sense. obviously you resign franz to a bigger deal worth more money. but also, it just feels kinda weird to consider Franz someone worth 45-50 mil a year. there are all-nba/superstar guys that are making around that much per year, maybe a little more.
