FIRST TAKE| Stephen A reacts to Buddy Hield choosing Warriors over Lakers for a better chance to win
for a quick take free agent buddy heeld will be playing with the Warriors next season after a sign and trade deal guaranteed for two years $21 million sources told W Courtney does this move the needle for Golden State at all they should feel very good about the replacement for Klay Thompson it’s not often that you can find a player who can shoot the three as well as Klay did while their Splash brother replacement is Buddy heel now does this move the needle for me as far as putting them in Contender category no I still think that they are a big move away from doing just that but I’ll give the Warriors credit for what they’ve done throughout this off seon especially this free agent period to like to remake the middle of your rotation with the Anthony Melton so somebody who can take on that tough perimeter assignment while also spacing the floor of Kyle Anderson I like what they’ve done around the edges but to be considered any sort of Dark Horse Fringe cat Fringe uh category Contender I think that they are still a little bit away all right let’s keep it in the association theyig need at shooter and they acquire buddy hee from the Sixers in a signing trade for a second round pick in 2031 the 31-year-old heeld agreed to a 2-year deal that will guarantee him $21 million although he’s not a splash brother field has made, 1600 threes over the last six seasons that second behind is new backcourt running mate in Steph Curry the Warriors ranked seventh in three-point percentage last season and made the second most threes of any team senior NBA Insider Adan wowski joining us now how does this Warriors trade now uh when you bring in buddy heel kind of fill the void of Klay Thompson going to the Mavericks well you’re seeing the Warriors do it by committee and Buddy heeld was a free agent Philly just facilitated his signing they get a 2031 second round pick you know but for Buddy heel this is a very Team friendly contract essentially two years guaranteed at about $21 million and hee listen only Steph Curry has made more three-pointers in the NBA since heeld came in the league 2016 2017 you add in Kyle Anderson who we reported uh that they are signing in a sign and trade with Minnesota and DeAnthony Melton another X sixer who’s coming over in free agency you’ve seen them fill out their roster with some more veteran depth and obviously you know buddy heeld is a shooter who’s going to probably come off the bench for this Warriors team uh listen they’ve recovered pretty well from Klay Thompson and you know you’ll see the growth of you know their first year players of Brandon p psky his second usually you see a jump I think the Warriors are happy with what they’ able to do in this postseason they’re really high on kaminga too and the growth of that young team around Steph Curry okay free agency you’re still working you’re working hard a notable name that’s still out there what’s the latest of Miles bridges in the market yeah I think Miles Bridges is probably the best available free agent uh unrestricted in the marketplace Charlotte wants to bring him back you know they’ve made him an offer their new GM Jeff Peterson their new coach Charles Lee they’ve SP spent time with him and they’re allowing him to go out in the marketplace there are not teams necessarily with cap space for him Charlotte would have to facilitate a sign in trade and if they could get value back for Bridges they’re willing to listen if there’s a deal he’d like to take somewhere else but charlot would like to bring them back at a number and a number of years that they’re comfortable with you saw the emergence last year of Brandon Miller they hope lamelo ball is healthier this season and that’s a very good um uh quarter stone for a young team and they’re still hopeful they’ll get miles Bridges back um but I think this is going to be a negotiation this one may play out a little bit into the month Miller a fantastic rookie season Melo has to stay healthy on the floor this past season Bridges averaged a career high 21 points and seven rebounds for the Hornets W thank you thanks Kevin man you cross the border and load up and go back in your state and out of the for let’s take a look at some fireworks from a busy NBA off season the Thunder strengthening their roster adding big man Isaiah hartenstein from the Knicks and then trading for defensive stalard Alex Caruso OKC won the West last year just got harder to beat plenty of fireworks in the home of the Liberty BT freedom in Philly the Sixers signing the top free agent in nine-time All-Star Paul George just hours later they gave Tyrese Maxi a Max extension after a breakout season Nick’s trying to catch the Celtics in the east as part of a massive deal they sent four unprotected first round picks of the Nets from Mel Bridges and then they sign ogn and Obi to a big extension entering free agency the Celtics niick Sixers and Bucks were the top four favorites to win the East according to ESPN bet as of today well it’s the defending champs Who Remain the favorites while the Sixers I mean they take a pass in front of the Knicks with the signing of Paul George we are all holding our breath we’ll see you know all right a happy 4th of July hopefully uh everyone is doing great hope we have a safe 4th of July um we are what do we day four or five into free agency here I am uh I am still in Bristol Connecticut and I’m heading home for a few days before I head out to Vegas for uh for summer league um a little bit of a kind of a whip around I guess uh free agency whip around kind of the lay to land and where things stand and and certainly some of the recent transactions here um that we are going to talk about uh there’s C um a pool of good free agents still available um we’ve seen a market kind of um we we knew this was going to happen um when the cap only increases 3.4% and the apron new restrictions come up come about we have kind of like a little bit of the perfect storm here so the advice was if you have a deal in the early part of free agency you take the deal um because the money is going to start drying up and I’m going to go through some examples here uh so here are some of your your Topline free agents here certainly tyus Jones is still available um we’ve got Gary Trent Luke Canard I would say Canard probably back to Memphis I’m going to note that Malik Beasley um Kyle Lowry um miles Bridges Caleb Martin Isaac o Coro cor is a little bit different I’m going to go into that in a minute Demar de rozan we’ll talk about D rozan KJ Martin we’ll talk about KJ Martin in a minute uh Covington Marcus Morris toring Prince went to um Milwaukee I like that signing there sarage CR OA peret I would say OA peret uh I wouldn’t I would be surprised if he doesn’t go back to Boston usually what happens sometimes is when you have a player option you uh you have almost not a side deal but you say look we’re going to opt out but if if we don’t get anything we’re going to come back to you and would actually save Boston like $300,000 um in salary and then a luxury tax because his minimum number would come down off what he signed two-year contracts when he signed last year you get the full cap hit on a veteran minimum um his number would be you know right around 2 oneish so they would get some savings there um so let’s do a little bit of a whip around I would say uh around the NBA and kind of what to expect um over the next few days we are in this kind of I guess slow period here um not slow period we’re going to get all the transactions are going to be signed contracts will be signed on Saturday we’ll get a flow of contracts we’ll probably do some more videos as far as what we see what was reported what is is a little bit different here um we we still have a ton of extension guys to figure out we still have some trade candidates possibly we’ll keep an eye on um there’s no Damen Lillard situation kind of hovering over um so Brooklyn New York that trade will get finalized on Saturday keep an eye on certainly what New York has to add to the deal so they don’t get hard capped at the first apron um Alec Burks goes to Miami um they still have precious auua who they can do in a signning trade remember signning trades have to be for minimum of 3 years only the first year has to be guaranteed so that’s a little bit of Brooklyn keep an eye on Charlotte in the next um I guess 48 Hours um they’ve got that Miles Bridges free agent hold uh that’s counting the Hornets are acting as a room team as a team with C salary caps based so um the Josh Green trade will get done over the weekend um Reggie Jackson certainly they can take him into their room exception here um but keep an eye on Charlotte as far as whether it be Bridges back to Charlotte on a on a contract to their liking um or possibly an a signning trade once they re if if in the scenario his caph hold does get renounced um Bridges loses a lot of value and certainly Charlotte loses a trade uh trade asset there so keep an eye on Charlotte um for Miles Bridges um Chicago is in an interesting spot um you know the goal in the offseason certainly was to bring Demar to Rosen back we’ve talked about the inability to move Zack LaVine um certain certainly Chicago would be a willing participant in a d rozan signing trade here but here’s the problem they’re $13 million and under the luxury tax so the goal if you’re going to sign if the M Rosen is looking for a north of $20 million you’re not looking to um you’re not looking to bring back 13 more than $1 13 million because you’re going to be in a luxury tax unless you move Javon Carter that’s the challenge we we’ve seen with some of these restrict re free agents whether it be Ty Jones or Demar D rozan is that there are teams that want to sign these guys and there teams that want to acquire them in a in a signing trade but when you look at the Wizards and you look at Chicago they don’t want to take pack salary and now all of a sudden go into into the tax or close to the apron um both teams are hard CA U Chicago at the at the first apron because of Jaylen Smith they signed him to part of the midlevel and the the Wizards multiple different reasons here certainly valun is signing trade we’re going to talk about that in a minute um they Brogden trade took back more money um so Chicago would be a willing participant but there’s really a hard it’s once we get more into free agency it’s it’s harder for Demar D rozan and tus Jones to relocate to a home um it makes it extremely extremely challenging and we only have Detroit and Utah that has significant cap space there are some teams would have trade exceptions but if you know Brooklyn acquiring tyus Jones into the trade exception puts them closer to the luxury tax um so that’s it a little bit on um on uh on Chicago Cleveland’s got Isaac okoro who’s a restricted free agent um look at maybe signing trade options for him uh maybe a a bigger wing on a um on a uh on a I don’t want to give away the beans here so keep an eye on Cleveland as far as Sig and trade options for Isaac aore here it was funny I had to do radio yesterday and um I uh the first question was was it yesterday or two days I guess two days ago um and this was about 30 minutes before Donovan Mitchell agreed and I had known about it and they said what’s going on with Donovan Mitchell and I was like well it’s a good question what’s going on with Donovan Mitchell and I was like I can’t say anything so just keep an eye on Isaac aoro as far as what happens there certainly Donovan Mitchell signs that threeyear $150 million extension it’s got a player option the everyone make goes crazy about it but it’s more of a financial decision because he has 10 years of service at where that player option is he can get another big crack of the Apple um but here’s another team uh they’re about $9.5 million below the luxury tax so if you do a signing trade with okoro you got to be careful as far as what money you’re coming back um Dallas we’ve talked all along about Dallas I love their off season Naji Marshall uh Klay Thompson Quinton Grimes um the ability to move Tim hardaway’s contract the ability to um create trade exceptions the ability to you know get three players um to replace Derek Jones really like the creativity in Dallas here Denver um they can cry all they want about cap casualty by the CBA when you have a championship team what you think is a championship team sometimes it costs to bring back one of your Premier Defenders here and we’ll see how these young players in Denver um develop here uh Detroit still sitting at $ 25 $26 million in cap space keep an eye on them as far as coming in for taking back some um some money uh not big on that Tobias Harris 2 for 52 contract who are you bidding against not big on that at all um we’ll see that contract comes in maybe there’s a partial maybe there’s a team option there uh Golden State um I was wrong on TV yesterday when I said I didn’t think they were going to make the playoffs um um I think I bet bonam bontemps a dinner um I would give them a solid b as far as what they’ve been able to do so far um Melton um Kyle Anderson uh we’ll see what happens with Buddy hee they basically took the Klay Thompson trade exception and and are probably going to take that in with um Kyle Anderson and um we’re still waiting to see if it’s a buddy heel trade uh and then you um you get melting on the non uh non- tax they’ve got three first round picks 26 28 I mean they can move 25 26 28 and then you can move 30 as long as it’s in that 1 to 20 range um which is which is a value it’s basically an unprotected pick up to 20 so they got three first round picks to move um I really like I I said it all along I know Warrior fans are not happy with me um they’re in a better spot now than they were if they resigned Klay Thompson you got to put the sentiments side here uh Clips um we’ll see what happens I would say Westbrook probably gets moved um maybe to Utah I’m just hypotheticals here um Chris Dunn comes back that’s the only way they can pay him as an assigning trade um couple nice saves Batum um cam Christie is going to sign if he had a four-year uh second round pick uh Derek Jones three or 10 $30 million couple nice saves um i’ we’ve talked about the clips on the Zack low podcast I’m not a big fan of um the Kevin Porter Jr signing for um multiple reasons uh the Lakers certainly the Hot Topic team um the Lakers LeBron uh not surprised two for 104 has got a player option the king of the short-term contracts no a true no trade clause um Le bronny signs 4 for 7.9 I’ve never seen a player draw the ire of so many people when he signed a 4year $7.9 million second round pick exception it’s standard folks it’s it’s standard two players in the 50s did it last year now we can debate well the thir years is guaranteed like and I I feel like telling I had an argue with my cousin last night like who gives a crap who cares how does it impact you how does it impact your life like why are we arguing about this like it’s not your money like who cares four years $7.9 million second round exception the likelihood is that all three years are guaranteed and the fourth Year’s got a team option those are the that that’s the standard for a second round pick exception where they are at the they’re right at the apron second apron they’re over the luxury tax the apron rules we’ve talked at nausea you can make trades um and take back more money but you cannot exceed the second apron you can aggregate contracts and in a trade but you cannot exceed the second apron here so I don’t see the Lakers as a willing participant in the uh this offseason just because what is out there the inability to move um 29 and 3 W that’s their picks they got two 4 seconds um it’s a challenge for them to add to this roster here uh I’m just going through all my notes Miami listen same situation I mean financially they as I wrote in the offseason guy they got to get their finances in order for them to be a player here uh bring back Kevin Love I like the Alec Burke signing keep an eye on Caleb Martin um from what I was told um you know there was certainly the possibility that he could have done a Josh Hart type deal were opted into his contract and then sign a uh a long-term extension basically would it would have helped Miami this year and then rewarded him next year um if that’s the case that is a huge missed opportunity on his part um so Miami’s kind of just they they are who they are right now uh Milwaukee same situation financially challenged you get um torian prince who I like um Delon Wright you know you’re going minimum shopping just based on their their um their you know their finan same with Minnesota Joe Engles PJ doer guys on luk LCA Garza guys on veteran minimums that’s why they got Rob Dillingham and Teran Shannon in the draft guys that could potentially come in um come in uh New Orleans we’ve talked about keep an eye on V Tunis in this you know go in a signing trade to Washington and then roping in Atlanta as far as the dejon Murray trade that would allow New Orleans to send out the money that’s required to make the deal work uh we talked about Brooklyn and New York keep an eye on New York as far as um the bridges trade with bogdanovic as far as ability to send add more money keep an eye on precious and Chua I love everything Oklahoma City has done this offseason hartenstein um talked about it on the Zack low podcast hartenstein 3 for 87 there’s a team option in year three um Isaiah Joe and Aaron Wiggins fouryear contracts there’s a team option in year four um it gives them that window as we’ve talked about at nausea to maximize cap space they have done that um they are one of the big winners of the off season Orlando is interesting they got out of the gates and signed kcp with cap space um three for 66 got a player option and then they basically took care of their own guys uh Gary Harris two for 15 uh Goa three for 24 uh I’m interested to see the Jonathan Isaac contract renegotiation and extend basically they took cap space bumped his number up from 17 to 25 and then descended it down for the next four years I am sure I will say I’m positive there’s some injury protection and there’s some partials in there and and it protects the the team there Mo Vagner is back uh on a two-year $22 million contract somewhere in that so they basically brought the gang back and then they added kcp um I like what Houston did Philly keep an eye on KJ Martin they’re they’re going to keep that low cap hold uh keep an eye on them signing him to a uh I don’t want to say bloated contract but a $9 to10 million contract and to use um certainly need they need the depth and then maybe they can flip down the road um there’s still some work to do um we’ve heard about Buddy heeld of course but they’ve got a gapping hole at the four um Phoenix another team limited um I like some of their offseason Mason plumbley Damen Lee Monty Morris um you know veterans here as far as bargain shopping here uh San Anton Chris Paul keep an eye on Sacramento with Kevin herder and Harrison Barnes trying to get into play Utah still sitting at about $34 million the marketting renegotiation cannot be done until August 6th um so there is a window right now where they’re basically sitting on $34 million in room certainly a name that’s being discussed among um trade suitors um he has one year left I think his extension number is for 113 over four um I mean listen I think eventually for Utah you do have to get better um and if if you’re moving Markin and offer three or four more draft picks like it just extends the rebuild that started two years ago so um if you’re not going to renegotiate him then I certainly would think his name will be prominent in in trade discussions here um and then certainly we’ve talked about Washington with tus Jones as far as either trying to bring him back or a signning trade they’re only $5.5 million below the tax so that is it that’s a 15minute whip around uh of things in the NBA I hope everyone has a um a terrific Fourth of July stay safe out there and we will talk soon for we got come for fore speech for speech fore speech you thought for ch for spee spee Stephen A isn’t even in this; report this video for copyright
the fact that no1 wants to play with the lakers says alot
Reported and thumbs down for clickbait. Stephen A was not on the video.
All these analysts keep talking about what Denver did to LA in the playoffs when they got swept, but what did the Lakers do to the warriors? When they played in the playoffs exactly they eliminated them. It's not like the warriors are better than the Lakers if we going to keep talking about what happened a season or two seasons ago
It seem that Nobody wants to play along LJ. He is all about money and control over NBA franchises he had been played for…
They should of made the move on Zach Levine hes a better shooter and slasher, the Warriors wont make any deep runs in the playoffs with buddy 😂
No, Stephen A .you get reported😂😂😂
