Bronny James reacts to making Summer League debut with the Los Angeles Lakers | NBA on ESPN

hey bronnie Hut coach Dane Johnson was just talking about the biggest thing is for you to just get these game reps uh not just today but as the summer goes on what what did you feel like you learned in practice the last couple days where are your areas of focus on offense and defense uh today and moving forward um overall just being more aggressive um I said it off right um uh just being aggressive uh believing in myself um you know knowing that I can make plays for myself and my teammates um but the defensive end just staying solid um just know just playing my my game on the defense end especially because I um believe that I know how to play on the defense end so just you know staying to my to my roots and and believing in myself while doing it Bry did you have any sort of nerves or Jitters or anything like that making this next step you know first time putting on the uniform refs all that NBA arena yeah of course I mean every first game that I you know step on the the next level it’s it’s always some butterflies in my stomach um but as soon as the the ball tips and we go a couple down couple times down then it all goes away and I you know just playing basketball so you know it’s always going to be there but you know get through it you had a stretch there where you had the steal setting up uh the hockey assists to get the layup and not too long after you scored your first bucket was that kind of a a time where it all kind of settled than it was playing a basketball game yeah for sure um you know moments like that can can slow it down slow the game down for you especially cuz um I wasn’t you know as productive as I wanted to uh beforehand but you know stuff like that can really better me bronnie uh it seemed like you were able to create a lot of separation for for several mid-range jumpers was that what you were looking for offensively and how did you feel like obviously the shots didn’t fall but how do you feel like you did in terms of creating your own shot yeah I was just trying to focus on um you know being aggressive going downhill and you know trying to get a layup out of it um but you know that wasn’t uh open all the time so you know I had to settle for the for the mid-range but my coach um you know always tell me to you know get downhill especially because I’m a bigger guard and and use my body to you know create open lanes for myself and you know um maybe open up for for Colin sometimes um but yeah just he’s just telling me to you know be aggressive downhill especially because of my athleticism as well hey bronie what surprised you the most about your summer league debut with the [Music] Lakers maybe the the atmosphere it was you know more than I expected I I mean it’s it’s it’s a big game for me but I didn’t know um you know people Golden State would come in and and and WAP for me so I was pretty nice to see hey Bron you kind of spoke about it with yon um one thing that really sticks out is always your IQ um you use the punch dribble the shots were were there they were just in and out but then the two buckets that you did score one was off the da splits and then you kind of noticed that the defender was kind of playing that drive and then you hit him with the behind the back was that the thought process with that when you make the behind the back snatch yeah 100% I was you know trying to get downhill um as much as I could um you know to open up the the the two ball the mid-range and the three ball um couldn’t get the three ball to fall but you know it’s all reps it’s gonna it’s going to come more smooth bronnie uh just touching on the uh the speed of the game compared to the College how have you been able to adapt and can you just explain the difference brief briefly um to be honest the college game is much faster um I feel like I’m um really slowed down especially uh you know on the offens endend but the week of practice that we had I feel like really prepared me um for what was to come and and I felt comfortable you know while I was out there hi bronnie Janie from Associated Press uh do you feel like each each game you will take something and and as you look at film and say okay well I can build off of this and this I will uh try not to do again or or along those lines yeah yeah of course um you know watching film is is a very important part of basketball um but yeah just going back and and and you know looking at my mistakes and looking at you know the things I did right is really good for me um but also just game by game um growing that that that Comfort like comfort in in in playing my game I feel like that’s a that’s a big part of you know why I come out here and get those reps in everyone try to post what I look like [Applause] [Music] [Applause]

  1. Defensively he's there. I didnt expect him to navigate screens like that. He almost touched earth on one of those possessions though 😂😂. Good move by the ball handler.

Offensively…the connective passing is there. His shot was long early and short as the game went on. Took a horrific floater after a good board, he just gotta stay on his feet and keep the dribble alive there.

It's about what i expected from him. Can easily see him be in the league for a decade

  2. Wow it’s ashamed how we hate on each other. 🤦🏿 yes he may have scored a few points but he’s a millionaire with 4 pts which will get better with time. How about all of you, how many points have you scored, none because you are not in the NBA, you working a job making someone else rich. So you see it doesn’t pay to hate on people success because you have to take yourself in consideration. Most people who hate are the ones that’s struggling themselves. Just telling the hard truth in love.

  3. Espn and lefag are sickening. Stop trying to push this agenda on us. The kid stinks and daddy was banging waitresses at the barley house routinely….

  4. Why can’t yall just be happy for someone achieving their dream? You work a 9 to 5 hoping you will make it to what you want to do in life and you see someone who was able to make it and you’re hating. I don’t get it bruh.

  5. This kid has more pressure than anybody who's ever came into the league. Think about that. I honestly think he's got the mentality and the intelligence to overcome a lot of his issues. And he's got the drive, plus he's got the support behind him to take it to the next level. Everybody's doubting him, but I honestly think he Has the potential to become a really good 3ND player in the league

  6. bronny is the reason i even watched the summer league. which could be good and bad in certain aspects . good because i saw other players hoop. but one thing I learn watching the summer league(which i kinda expected) is that everybody is trying to get their 15 mins of Basketball fame so their wont be too much passing or great assist even if it means winning the game.(for example , a player try to make the last basket on Defense instead of throwing Bronny a Alley from behind. regardless Bronny remained neutral which was good and played good defense . the truth is , he didnt score much because he didnt get the ball much. people who see miss shots are the same ones that will ignore them if the player has more points.

  7. Bronny James is probably the worse player in the Summer League. Legacy doesn't matter once the games start. The guy will be a fish out of water at the NBA level.

  8. I play basketball, from what I watch, the league is in trouble Bronny gonna be a problem y’all blind on God.
