right because they were already there last season with what they had and they added a player that made them better in fact I like Naji Marshall as well as an addition to make them better defensively and he can shoot the three showed you last season but Klay Thompson gives them the experience they need obviously the catch and shoot three-point shooting that they need the steadiness when you get to the highest level of the game that they also were lacking at the NBA final stage at the beginning of that series it’s a great fit for both sides so yes i’ say that is right is it right or wrong Allan is forgetting about the Oklahoma City Thunder because he’s still sad that they stole Isaiah hartstein from the Knick pretend that didn’t happen so he’s just pretending that they don’t exist because then Isaiah hardstein might go back to the Knick it’s obviously wrong because the Thunder are the best team in the Western Conference I think they are arguably the second best team in the NBA behind the Boston Celtics they should be the massive favorites to get out of the Western Conference and make it to the NBA finals they traded Josh giddy for Isaiah hartstein and Alex kuso that is a gigantic addition I think they are the winners along with the Sixers of the entire offseason okay uh Wendy I’ll come to you of course the Celtics they are set up for a dynasty after signing Jason Tatum to a 5year 314 million deal is that right or wrong well I’m going to put a asteris on here no one is set up for a dynasty in the modern NBA but absolutely they are set up to win more championships their entire starting five which is the best starting five in basketball and is perfectly structured for the way the modern game is played is now all under long-term contract now it’s going to be expensive not totally this season but next year as in 2025 26 when Tatum’s number comes in and Derek White’s number comes in it’s a going to be a $200 million starting five $200 million starting five but you know what that’s money well spent this team fits together beautifully they can do everything that is necessary um they can they can switch with each other they can all shoot threes if you’re going to invest 200 million these your Five Guys to invest 200 million in in a year not total in just in one season that it’s that second column though Brian that second column with those numbers this year the Celtics have by far the best team in the league they are the heavy favorites to win a second straight title as you said earlier it’s very hard to win back-to-back championships we’ll see if Boston could do it it’s next year though they’re looking at having it say payroll and luxury tax payments close to $500 million it’s the record it would be the record in the league by over $100 million potentially by the time it’s all said and done I just don’t see how that’s going to be what this team looks like a year from now so again to go back to what we talked about the Knicks earlier the Knicks and these other teams are betting on Boston having to sacrifice guys because of this new CBA yeah maybe Boston can trade them but they’re going to have to cut money somewhere they’re not going to be spending half a billion dollars that’s why the Celtics franchise is the biggest free agent on the market that’s exactly there’s a reason why right because you build this and then you realize that’s a big Bill coming I don’t want to be around to have to pay it and to take it a step further this starting five now is under contract for almost a billion dollars when you the the length of every contract now given out to all these players so the investment is in this team the question is how long they can be kept together financi there are small Market teams in this league right now rooting for it because they’d love to get that money in on the revenue sharing part of it but I just look at it as here’s your window they know they have an opportunity to get multiple they got one so invest in this and then the worst thing that happens is okay we got two we don’t want to pay this bill anymore we still have guys that have value that we can send out and let them worry about that some other time like we’re watching with golden state Brian sub it up though the rules are built against Dynasty existing I don’t know if we’re going to see another one again okay Tim let me ask you this then is Paul George the missing Championship piece you think for those Philadelphia 76ers I mean I think he’s the missing piece and that they could not have done better than this I understand the concerns about the Sixers I understand the injury issues that they have I understand the lack of depth on the team on the other hand if you look at where the Sixers are at if you go back to last summer when we were sitting here this week talking about the James Harden drama if you had said a year later Philadelphia 76ers we going to add Paul George to Tyrese maxi and Joel embiid you would have said sign me up for that immediately the Sixers would have been thrilled by that this is the dream outcome for them it might not lead to a championship but there was no better way that they could put this team together than to have the best big three in the league try to get as much depth around it as possible and hope like hell those guys are healthy come next spring because if they are they can give Boston a real run for its money is is Paul George the missing Championship piece for the six years he certainly he no he certainly could be I’ll say it’s right because this is probably the closest to jool and Beads ever going to be as far as when it comes to a makeup of a roster because of the Maxi Factor here as well you can’t Overlook that what he’s emerged into and there’s also that trust factor that embiid has with him so you have him you have Paul George it certainly is a good fit they did add some depth now you know Eric Gordon that’s a that’s a good piece off your bench and then obviously Drummond gives you some type of stabilization a great rebounder is off the and yeah bringing him back in had a really good number too at 8 million y so they have everything that’s certainly there and that’s what again what’s going to be compelling going forward now is going to see because of like Wendy just talked about how difficult it’s going to be to build what Phoenix tried to do we know that that that thing is is a disaster waiting to happen Stars overloading your payroll and overloading your roster is not an easy thing to work with the Sixers have it right now and the ability to win is in a small window but will it be stars or will it be culture the Knicks didn’t star Chase they decided to go with culture in depth chemistry which one is going to win out between the two because you know what’s interesting the Celtics have both they have the star power and the depth in culture as well one of them has to win out to see that’s why the Celtics are the massive favorit they have both and the Knicks and the Knicks and Sixers are each coming to the table with one of the other saying we’re hoping we can get by you but the Celtics that’s why they’re the dominant team in the league right that’s right so Wendy as as currently constructed as the Sixers are right now can they win a championship depending on 75 different factors that I don’t know I know on you’re forcing me to answer this question answer the question what do I say what do I say uh let me just say this one year ago darl M uh James Harden put his finger in Daryl Mor’s eye said I’m opting into this contract and you better trade me and when you didn’t trade me in five minutes I’m gonna go over to China where your name is not in the greatest reputation uh because of other factors and I’m going to call you terrible names over there and Daryl Mo had to have that rainon on his head so you know what he did he stuck his eye right back in James Harden because not only did they trade James Harden for Paul George functionally but then they got other assets from the Clippers so that’s how you handle with an adverse situation you work your way through it Daryl Mor and the 76ers have worked their way through it and vastly improved their lot over the last year but all that work is still predicated on the fact that you got to be healthy at the right time and that’s the most important thing for this team now are they the biggest threat then to the Celtics you talking about the Sixers I I mean I think yes over the next year or two probably the next two especially right cuz they’re going to have the AB ility to add some pieces next summer to these three guys and the Celtics who potentially lose some guys next summer right so I think this two-year window I like the ceiling for the Sixers if you talk the next five years I like the Knicks because the Knicks are basically betting on with the new rules the fact that teams are going to start losing guys the Knicks have signed all these guys long term they’re guys who are going to want to stick together maybe Jaylen Bruns and male Bridges take less than their market value to stay with the Knicks to have the Nova Knicks stay together ogn and Obi signed up long term the Knicks are built to sustain this group over a 5-year period if you sustain a group in the NBA right now over a 5year period you’re going to break through at some point look at the Boston Celtics they spent the last five years banging on the door they eventually break through go 16 and three and win the title because they were healthy this year they went through they had the best team and they won maybe that’s the next three years from now so I think we’re talking on a couple different timelines but that’s why it’s fascinating they both have made very different bets we’ll see which one pays off so who’s the biggest threat because I’m sure Milwaukee is saying you guys are talking a lot about health hey if we stay healthy Don’t Forget About Us Milwaukee and Indiana you know Cleveland Like These Are teams that have been in the playoffs and they also want to be in this conversation but there’s tears to this thing and I do think those three teams well Boston’s in their own they’re in the penthouse and then then then the next floor underneath them I think is the Sixers and the Knicks the biggest story in Philadelphia for this whole season and actually it starts right now is going to be Joel embiid’s KNE it’s been the biggest story since the process began his health it started out that way they drafted him he was unhealthy right and so for him that’s what they’ve got to figure out which year is it going to be that they get 65 70 plus games out of him and then when you’re into may he is not leaking oil that’s the most important part because while Paul George could be the missing piece to a championship in Philadelphia they don’t win anything if Joel embiid is dragging his leg up and down the floor once again like we just seem to see every year when we get to the playoffs and that again brings me back I said this yesterday I’m going to say it again the Sixers should not have Joel embiid play in the Olympics he should not he should just continue to rehab make sure that knee is strong make sure he is in full health and don’t risk him playing in an international game which yes I know means the world to him but still risking him playing in the Olympics where he could have another thing happen to that knee to now cost him the start of next season would be franchise malpractice if you allow him to play it doesn’t make sense they are so now in on these next two seasons how you can allow this to happen to me doesn’t make sense they got to have conversations with him now wheny give you the final word he’ll be at the First
