This is the type of stuff that Ernie Grunfeld, and less so but Tommy Sheppard too, NEVER did. The contract always was pro player.
A third year being fully non gtd makes JV much more of a trade asset.
So refreshing to get good news like this instead of the inverse. Still remember being shocked at the Wiz committing more than one year to Jason Smith only to find out later they gave him a player option on the third year.

Kind of weird to throw a shot at Grunfeld and Sheppard.
It is more of a commentary on how the basketball market has changed versus competent/incompetent management. Even Hartenstein is getting hit with a team option on his three year deal.
