Toronto Raptors DRAFT Jonathan Mogbo 31st Overall | Scouting Report 2024 NBA Draft

Toronto Raptors DRAFT Jonathan Mogbo 31st Overall | Scouting Report 2024 NBA Draft

the Toronto Raptors have drafted Jonathan mobo with the 31st overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft this is a very interesting pick here there was a lot of good talent left on the board as well Kyle filipowski fell the second round there you had Johnny Fury a lot of other guys as well but mobo is a very interesting selection here by the Raptors a true Messi jury type player here he’s a 66 Wing SL big man but does have guard skills as well and that’s kind of the interesting part about game is he’s got some guard skills but he is more of a big man/ forward type of a player so we’re going to kind of break down this player this pick here and truly talk about how good of a pick this is for the Raptors and what kind of an impact he can have on this team going forward starting off here with this measurement like I said he is 66 217 lbs there he has a 72 wing span so very long guy there 66 good size there 27 lbs he’s not a shrimp out there a very tough strong player out in the coure I think this is a nice pick here for the CHS like I said there were some other good players left on the board but this is definitely not a bad pick and not too much of a Reach This was kind of the range he was expected to go in kind of the early second to midc round was kind of what most people kind of figured this is a pretty solid selection here by the Raptors he is a true Messiah jury pick though he’s a very athletic in first T Defender he can pretty much guard one through five he is kind of a forward SL big man although he’s only 66 he can kind of guard the centers and power forward type players and I think is overall going to be a very nice Defender for this Raptor team the defense was not good at all last year for the Raptors this is a player who can probably come in and make an instant impact on the defensive end the offensive side might take a bit to really you know make a big impact at the NBA level but defensively he should be ready to go and make a pretty good impact coming off the bench there for this Raptors team to really try and shut down the other team defensively because like I said he’s very athletic and he’s a very versatile Defender as well can pretty much guard one through five and could possibly end up playing a bit of small ball five as well down the road he did grow up with Scotty Barnes actually in Florida there as well which is pretty cool so kind of a buddy of Scotty there so I’m sure Scotty must be pretty happy with this selection he did start off in junior college there I believe he didn’t get a single D1 offer that ended up going over to Missouri State and then for his senior year ended up transferring over to San Francisco last season ended up having a very very good season with them took a massive step up and his overall production in pretty much every single stat he took a big improvement from you know Missouri State back in 2022 2023 up until this past season as a senior playing at the University of San Francisco where he ended up averaging 28.9 minutes per game also played in a total of 34 games where he started in all of them his field goal percentage was quite fantastic but a 63.6 on 9.5 field goal attempts the two percentage there at 64% not bad at all but the kind of one big issue with this game and really the only issue truly with his overall game is the fact that he cannot really shoot the three ball at all he only attempted two three-point attempts in the last two seasons at Missouri State and at San Francisco combined and took two shots there missed them both so he’s definitely not a great three-point shooter and hopefully that can develop because he did take a pretty massive step up in his overall free throw percentage though going from a 43.2% at Missouri State to a 69.2 at San Francisco so a big difference there on you only point4 more attempts per game so not by at all there got a lot better on the free throw side of things there but there definitely is a big question marking issue with his three-point shot but if he can develop that he could truly be one of the best players in this entire draft if he can do that but either way he should still be able to develop into a very talented player and does have a very high ceiling as well although the three-point shot is definitely questionable and if of an issue if he can’t develop that he still could be a very good defensive player and overall kind of decent offensive guy as well he does have some pretty good guard skills for a guy of his size taking a look now at the rebounds he is an absolutely phenomenal Defender ended up averaging a double double at San Francisco there with 10.1 rebounds per game three-point for on the offensive board there not bad at all Sixpoint on the defensive side of things there also had 3.6 assists as well so very very good there for a big man SL kind of forward 66 guy there he got some good guard skills great playmaking ability there exceptional passer very talented on that side of things there he also had 1.6 steals per game and point8 blocks so the blocks a little disappointing there but the steals were quite good at 1.6 not too bad only 1.8 turnovers so for a guy who can definitely handle the ball you know play make a decent amount the turnovers are not too bad there at all he’s got pretty much double the assist that he does turnover so pretty solid there and also had 14.2 points per game averaging that double double there is not too bad at all at the D1 level although it’s not in a great conference for example you the University of San Francisco there does not play in one of the top tier conference like the big 12 something that but still a pretty solid conference there and overall put up some very very good stats and comparing him to to a guy like Pascal seak and what he did in his freshman and sophomore season combined three-point wise at New Mexico State he ended up going three for 17 for a three-point percentage of 17.6 obviously not great it was definitely better than what we saw at at mogbo there because mogbo wasn’t you know shooting it at all there he had like two attempts in the last two seasons there so wasn’t even attempting them much but neither was yakam for the most part there and there is a reason to kind of think that he could possibly end up getting a three-point shot you know the fre throw percentage there for cakam ended up being 71.1 for a guy like mobo there this past season in his senior year there ended up having a 69.2 free throw percentage there so not bad at all took a massive step up from the previous season free throw wise and maybe there is hope there that he could possibly kind of develop the three-point shot I wouldn’t Bank on it but there is a possibility that he still could although it isn’t too likely but it definitely is you know still a possibility like I said though he has great guard skills he’s an exceptional passer great vision out there on the court can make some nice passes has some good playmaking skills he’s a very good Defender there can guard one through five like I said you know phenomenal rebounder double double machine for the University of San Francisco he’s very athletic great slasher and interior finisher there great dunker you know just great at kind of scoring on the inside there so that is quite a nice thing to have although the outside shot is not really there yet maybe he could possibly develop it like I said he has an Al PR as well which is something this team could definitely use and I think overall just a great interior score he’s not going to do much outside but inside there can definitely get the job done you decent free throw shooter they’re not bad at all very good Defender I think he has a pretty high ceiling especially if a three-point shot can come around like I said he could truly be one of the best players in this entire draft but that’s kind of the big question mark is can he develop that if not he’s look to be a very you know useful player at the league and definitely a very valuable guy to have but you know the question mark is can he develop a three-point shot that is something that we definitely don’t know yet but it is possible that he could do so way down the road but he does have a pretty high floor though with his rebounding defensive capabilities with the guard skills he has a pretty high floor there but the ceiling is definitely a question mark on whether or not he can deop that three-point shot and truly become a very very talented player anyways thank you so much for watching if you have enjoyed this The Toronto Raptors selected a true Masai Ujiri pick in Jonathan Mogbo in the 2024 NBA draft with the 31st overall pick. Good pick by the Raptors who select a versatile defender whose 6’6 with guard skills.

  1. Length and athleticism! Let's see if the Raptors can rediscover their player development. In the 2nd round I prefer potential to players who have just about topped out

  2. When will ppl stop doubting ujiri and appreciate what we have. In 1 season turnaround he recreated a very exciting roster out of nowhere. Gonna be some exciting few years ahead

  3. The guy is literally Rondae Hollis-Jefferson 2.0, he is an inside scorer that is too small to score inside the pain in the NBA, he is far from a steal. We should've take Filipowski.

  4. Jonathan Mogbo is a top 5 player in this Draft. possible the best. 6' 7.5 Height.
Number 1 defensive player in the draft. He is a defensive Big wing Small Ball PF with PG skills.
Like a Fareed that Masai drafted

  5. Only the original GOAT, Bill Russell played at USF…Two consecutive ncaa championships…Jonathan could be the next USF nba superstar ❤❤❤❤❤

  6. Good bench player. This is what they need. Jakobe to be a starter eventually and these guys to be a really productive off the bench scorers.
