Instead of a consolation trade that nets us another high paid veteran player, I think we should attempt to consolidate into a young future superstar. Say a team like San Antonio or Washington gets a top 2 pick we could offer a combination of Andrew, Benn, Jarace and picks to grab Cooper Flagg or Ace Bailey, and they would get players in the 1-3 spots ready to contribute and they will have a salary cap space to actually pay them. For us it would clear up our logjam of players and give us some time before we have to dole out another big contract

To get a “third star” we’d have to trade some of our young players. I don’t think we’ll do that until we feel confident that we understand their ceilings, so I assume we are giving them 1 more season minimum to show what they can do.
