Julian Strawther Excited to Help Jamal Murray, DaRon Holmes & More

and [Music] here much uh I went home for about a week saw my family you know kicked it with them but came right back out here business right now get ready for summer league how exciting is it for you to get to the summer thing in Vegas super yeah I’m super excited uh I’ve been ising to play in Summer League you know ever since the season ended you this important and obviously you know towards the latter half of the season looking rotation but so I’m teing to play I’m hungry to play and I mean it’s right around the corner how is this summer league different than last year for you uh last year it was kind of just get your feet wet you know feel feel everything out uh see how my game translates and you know try not to do too much but you know this year I’m kind of grow my game and obviously you know with with departure of guys like kyp and Reggie you know there’s there’s a lot of opportunity for the take and so you just making sure I go out there and try to make that next Le of my game you know playmaking defense you know continuing to be a shooter and score so just taking leap from every every aspect of my game has that been a message from the coaching staff to maybe step out a little bit more expand to be a little more aggressive this year at some uh for sure definitely just explore my game as a playmaker you know obviously uh you know mul can’t can’t bring the ball up every single second every single game and you know he needs help uh he need someone to help relieve him so you know they’re looking at me as a guy who can possibly help reli with ball pressure and ball handling responsibility so I’m definitely trying to go out there and and and do that this weekend here at Sumer league has that been an emphasis in your training like ball handling specifically and and what does that look like uh yeah I mean I like the main thing for me is obviously I’m not a natural point guard so when I’m in uh OPP situations where I at the playmaking not doing too much not trying to make a home run play but keeping it simple and uh being able to make reads and and passes so uh hitting a roll or going attack myself you know just simple reads making the game simple for myself and my teammates what are these Summer League games allow you to experiment with that you want to be able to hold Implement season uh like I said just a bunch of stuff especially just playmaking right now with my main emphasis playmaking the defense you know just taking grow uh in in those aspects and and being more comfortable in the pick and roll and obviously just contining to be a shooter and show consistency in that how beneficial is it for you Hunter and Jaylen to be kind of the leaders of this team having experience Summer League last year uh I mean it’s a lot it means a lot uh obviously like you said we did it last year and I mean all through season we trained together so I mean we built a really good chemistry mean we’ve been playing thir for a year now so I feel like we should be able to go out there and dominate you alluded to sort of the opportunity that there could be this season to to what extent at this point in the offseason do you have conversations uh with coaching staff about expectations in terms of what could be the role for you going into next uh I mean it’s still kind of a gray area just because the bu out so we don’t know exactly who’s going to be in here come training camp U but obviously there’s been there’s been a couple taches There’s an opportunity there and uh I’ll be able to put myself in position Don mentioned that you were the first player that reached out to him what made you want to do that and what you think game uh I I did that because when I was drafter that’s something that I wanted guys to do and Colin Gess be different for me and it meant a lot so you know just being able to you know reach out and let them know that I’m I’m a guy he can come talk to so he already came over to the crib we kicked it last week before we left for July so it’s been fun and today was the first time me and Don got to share the floor together and uh he got a motor uh that boy played with a lot of energy and you know he’s eager to learn and and willing to learn so I think he going to be great how would you describe had mons man I I like what he got going right now I me he’s he’s a he’s a great basketball minor he know what he’s talking about uh the the the plays he’s drawing up and just the action to get Guys open he’s doing a great job so I’m really happy playing for him summer down in Vegas he a top coach or he showed me a little uh coach coach Mo as timeout kind of got mad at us and a little scrimmage so he can show a little fire I wasn’t expecting that is uh don moving into the apartment with you and Chris uh I think he decided right now I told him that you know all the young guys kind of kind of posted up at at the same spot but you know there’s a couple good options out here hopefully he comes and pull up on we you tell about Jaylen and Hunter and what you’ve seen from them they’ve also been on the same path you won coming into Year too yeah uh I mean like I said I’ve been able to be out here on the practice floor with them for countless hours hours on end so uh I just I’ve been able to really really really get a feel for the game and pick obviously uh he showed a lot of you know just his bully ball back down you know kind of big guard uh mindset when it comes to playing point but uh he he just a great job of scanning the floor he knows where guys are and where guys want the ball so uh I really enjoy playing with him and then Hunters he’s a sniper man he’s one of the best Shooters I ever ever seen ever worked out would ever play with or against so uh you know he’s a special player he works as hard as anybody uh in this entire organization so I’m super excited for him and what he can do get coming do than
