[95.7 The Game] “The only thing I regret about [Klay’s] time in the Bay Area is that the Kevin Durant, Steph, Draymond & Klay era ended way too soon. I wish that foursome could’ve stayed together and won 5 or 6 or 7 championships.” – Klay’s dad, Mychal on @WillardAndDibs

Same
Did end way too soon
2016 still hurts, they could very well have 5 right now and knocking on Jordan’s doorstep
Me too Pops. Me too 😓
FACTS
Guaranteed if KD stayed, they would’ve had at least 6 rings.
His dad told the story that KD and Klay were both injured and texting each other about unfinished business immediately after that Raptors series. Then KD bolted. We know Klay was screwed up after that long rehab process and not being able to play, but I always think of that quote too.
Don’t worry. Steph recruiting KD back to the warriors.
Is too Mychael.
They probably would have won more just based on the overwhelming quality advantage but by 2018 already KD no longer wanted to fit in. The motion offense had to adapt much more to KD, making the offense worse and honestly, just not as much fun.
2018 Houston against the 2017 Warriors would never have went to 7 games.
By the end of the 2019 it felt even worse, so unless we are changing personalities here, and while winning heals a lot, I don’t mind how it worked out in the end.
I hate that people don’t mention Iguodala. He’s part of the real Core 4 and the dubs haven’t won a chip without him.
Anyone thinks that KD might regret too?
I blame KD for that one
Would have come back with a vengeance to win in 2020 and likely 2021 too.
If KD would have stayed in 2020 and re-signed, we would have won 2-3 more 💍 and KD would have been beloved by Dub Nation. Sad that it ended too soon.
We all do Mychal. We all do. But Durant was too sensitive to stay. Sadly.
💯
Egos ruin everything.
In 2017 I honestly thought we were gonna win the next 5 or 6 championships
Thanks Dray
Ego and injuries ruined that era tbh. If KD hadn’t tore his achilles and Klay his knee, we’d have won easily in 2018 but KD’s ego wouldn’t have let him stay longer
He’s right. Take away the injuries and keep that group together – they’re winning several more.
in the end, the single 2022 championship means more to me than any one of the ones we won/would have won with KD
ironically if KD stayed and we rattled off 5 or 6 rings, KD would be an undisputed top 10 player and Steph is probably on the outside looking in
but as fate would have it, he left and Steph catapulted himself into the top 10
