Mason Plumlee Opens Up About Why He Chose Suns

Sports welcome to Valley thank you uh I just wanted to get your thoughts on kind of what was your free agency process like and what ultimately stood out to you about the Suns that you wanted to come here um free agency I I had really good conversations with um bud and James and um Josh and and then ultimately Matt so um they were very uh convincing and this is a a roster that I was excited to join what makes this roster exciting to join your book obviously got the big three but right where do you feel like you can fit in with this particular um just a lot of talent like you said um guys who have who won big um and guys who are in their Prime um so I think you know that was really attractive to me and uh to me you know that’s what like offseason and training Camp’s about just coming in and figuring out like how can you compliment what they do so well when you look at your last season obviously you had the MCL spring that kind of was right in the middle of your season and things off a little bit how exciting is it to come inan B of health and with this new Bo yeah I mean it feels it’s great to be healthy and um you know I look at every season as a fresh start so um you know like I said just excited to be here I’m thrilled to to be here this year and and looking forward to getting to work shing with Forbes just curious how do you feel like you can leverage your passing with this particular group yeah well I mean there there’s shooting everywhere um you know you spoke about the the three guys but you know Grayson Roy there there are just so many weapons that can can space the floor so you know just um making sure you get them the ball where they want it and when they want it Mason welcome Amanda fluad the ex Sun sideline reporter what excites you the most about Coach bud and then also just the commitment that Matt ishbia has for the organization yeah I mean those are those are big things as a as a player you’re looking like okay from the top down you know what does the organization look like so when you have a an owner that’s motivated to win when you have a coach that has won um you know it’s it’s a good starting point and um you know I’ve had a lot of respect for buds teams you know going back to Atlanta Milwaukee um they’ve always been really well coached and and hard wins when you meet them in season so um you know I’m excited to play for for him and uh you know again just thrilled to be here how much you pay attention to kind of advanced numbers but on a first 75 possessions basis nobody contested more shots at the win last year than you okay I was just curious what uh is that has that always been kind of part of your Mo in the leag to challenge into turn around the r yeah it’s definitely part of the position um I I don’t no Advanced stats that um but yeah it’s it’s just that’s that’s what I’m here to do so you know want to do that at a high rate and uh you know I’ve never been an elite shot blocker but to alter make make finishing tougher around the rim is is really important you like there’s some parallels playing with getting a chance to play with ha and PG and James now going to another three headed monster here yeah um you know all just like Elite scorers um you know and guys who can play Both Sides um you know good Defenders too so uh you know it’s been a privilege in these more recent years of my career to play with some some really good Wing players and um you know I’m looking forward to this situation describe your games on yeah well you know I think first and foremost competing um you know I think there’s so much talk about you know this skill that skill whatever like you know I see myself as a competitor first so um you know that’s something that I want to bring here they new Monte coming here together having play together on nuggets and really helping that bench how can you feel now later in your careers that you can make of the same yeah we certainly intend to Monte is such an underrated player um you know I have so much respect for him and you know he’s I’ve been in games where he’s hit big shots he’s made big plays I think you know the the the attraction to him at the outset of his career was like how well he takes care of the ball so like you know I know College he had like one of the best assist to turnover ratios um but he’s just a really smart player and someone that makes the game uh make sense for everybody that he’s playing with so you know I didn’t know that he was coming here but I’m I’m thrilled uh that he signed with the Suns def relationship with KD your book um throughout your years just as uh being an opposing player so um you know I got to talk to book a little bit when I signed but um you know looking forward to getting to know him and and playing with him just to the so it’s hot we’ll get used to it yeah yeah Nate’s great um when I walked in I saw him briefly but um I’ve always been a fan of his I think he’s he’s an awesome coach and I’m glad to see him with a head job very deserving and um you know he no matter where he is he’s going to be a really good coach for a very long time any other questions thanks that’s your f
