Jared McCain talks 76ers Summer League debut & Philly fans embracing his TikTok | SportsCenter

we just saw some big name debuts in NBA Summer League Zach Edy of course big night 14 points 15 boards four blocks but how about the 16th overall pick out of Duke we saw Jared M McCain just light up the hardwood earlier for Philadelphia they took on Oklahoma City earlier this evening Jared McCain had quite the evening we now welcome in 76ers guard Jared McCain Jared Itali your first bucket and then some this evening I’d say 15 points six rebounds three dimes two steals pretty nice way to make your presence known how did it feel for you oh it was amazing I was so excited to get out there I was nervous I had butterflies but um to get out there and just play basketball it’s what I’ve loved to do since I was a kid so it was really fun to play in an NBA jersey I’m sure it was and those are the good kind of butterflies right this is your opportunity to really get your feet wet at the next level and I know you’re just kind of getting started but how did one season at Duke do you think really prepare you for this next venture yeah I mean I feel like in my game my game is very mature um you know I feel like I I I think the game very well my IQ is for the next level um so I think just being at Duke being on the biggest platform in college basketball um the best program in college basketball uh it was just cool to learn from koshar learn from my vets um yeah I think that’s prepared me the whole time uh for especially Philly Philadelphia ton of Buzz right now surrounding the Sixers with the addition of Paul Paul George obviously again I know you’re a new addition here but this is a very stacked roster that you’re walking into how do you find your role amongst all that Talent yeah I think um everywhere I’ve gone I feel like I can find my role whatever I can do to to help the team win just find an opportunity on the floor whatever coach wants me to do I think I can do it and just any way to help the team win all the young guys right now are participating in summer league obviously what do you hope to take away from this this summer just to learn like just to learn everybody on the staff um learn how I can play in an NBA game obviously gain confidence um get shots of uh just really the main thing though is to learn ask questions and get to know everybody okay uh confidence though does seem high if you’re on the social media sphere I’m not on Tik Tock here Jared so forgive me if my Ling goes off a little bit I know I I need to up my game I’m more of an Instagram person but that’s for a later date uh have the Philly faithful followed yet the Philly faithful you know Philly fans have they followed on social media have they jumped on board you know I think so I I hope so um you know I haven’t I haven’t checked too much but hopefully the the Philly fans have have locked in with with my Tik Tok okay I like that and so what do you think the social inspo is right now with everything that’s going on in your world with this transition into the league where do you find the inspiration um I mean for my inspiration for anything is just to have fun with it to bring some positivity um some joy to Tik Tok to my life I just like to dance and something I do on the side um hopefully the Sixers fans don’t get caught up in that basketball is my main thing I’ve been loving basketball since I was a kid since I was three so that’s been my dream so I never want people to think that that’s my main thing uh it’s just something I like to do on the side but um it’s been fun I think inspiration is just to have fun with it yeah um I I think I saw somewhere you said like a Tik Tac takes 15 seconds to do it’s not like it’s consuming your whole life exactly everybody thinks it takes an hour to do yeah like it’s a quick situation that obviously you have mastered and and keeping it loose and fun is what you’re doing and obviously you look like you’re having fun out there with a great performance tonight congratulations thanks so much Jared we appreciate the time thank you thank you appreciate it [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause]
