Rupert on the Number Change from 72 to 21

"My real number is 12, but this was not possible with Aldridge. So last year it was JB, John Butler, that had 21 at the beginning of the season. My hometown, in French, I'm from Merlemont so 72. So I choose 72. but to be honest with you I really don't like this number so I just changed it. 21 is close to 12 so I like this number better."

So it seems like we do plan on retiring LMAs number. no one has worn 7 since BRoy either, the team must be waiting for the right time.

I have no idea what the connection between 72 and Merlemont, FR are. I tried to look it up…i guess there is a 72 bus line that goes there and fun fact it was 72° there when i googled it. anyone know?

  1. Lamarcus’s number isn’t retired and probably shouldn’t be in the future. Why can’t Rupert have it?

  2. Tragic-tragedy

He said “72 because I’m from Le Mans” which is the capital of the department of Sarthe, postal code 72. All french departments are numbered so that’s the first thing that came to mind. I used to think it was because it looked like 12.

  3. Testicular-Fortitude

Must be out of respect he’s not taking 12, would be so embarrassing to retire 12 as much as I like LA
