Can the Miami Heat Afford to Be Patient? Or Are They Desperate?

is Miami’s future the bleakest it’s ever been some ESPN experts make that case plus Terry Rosier spoke to media that he have an update regarding his health for the upcoming season and Caleb Martin says he’s seeking a winning culture in Philadelphia we break it all down today’s episode of Locked on [Music] heat you are locked on heat your daily Miami Heat podcast part of the lock on podcast door plus Zack low has a strong opinion about the state of the heat that we’re going to get to later on but let’s start with some of the good news David Terry Rosier said on Tuesday that his neck is fully healed and he’s been cleared for basketball activities and it looks like he should be good to go to start the season of course you remember Terry Rosier missed the final four regular season games both playing games in the entire first round series against the Celtics this is big news for the heat David absolutely can we get some airn horns I just texted you now right now can we get some air horns on this because I think it’s absolutely Terry Rosier air horn worthy we’re at that point in the off season uh you know it’s good news first and foremost that Terry’s health is at at where it is right now that he’s been cleared to play that he’s healthy that it would seemed like it was mostly preventative not just for him from him but also from the heat medical staff because you know they’ve caught they’ve been under Fire at some point over the last few seasons for perhaps trying to rush players through injury it hasn’t always worked out but I I think they’ve always had a player’s best interest at heart obviously they’re trying to get that player out into the floor because they feel like that’s the most productive thing for them and to be able to try and cement an opportunity to win but when it came to Terry and a neck injury they were cautious they made an agreement that he didn’t feel comfortable regardless of how Miami looked like they were going to be in the play in tournament and then of course what happened against the Boston Celtics they said you know what we’re going to hold out this guy because we don’t feel he’s at 100% And I’m glad to see that it was the right choice he looks good he looks happy he looks content looks a little Slimmer I think he’s been working out and he feels like he’s ready to tackle the challenge so I mean I know there’s more to get into here with Terry and just that basic announcement he’s coming back but just the idea that he’s he’s very aware it seemed like to me like maybe not necessarily being on social media but he’s very aware of the the the pulse among heat fand yeah but before we get to that I’m glad you brought it up uh but just a little bit more of the context around the ter Rosier injury uh you mentioned he’s working he said he’s lifting weights he’s working out he’s been doing some on court activities all that stuff is awesome because if we remember Pat Riley and I asked him a question about Terry Rosier in the end of season press conference how’s he doing and he’s like and he revealed that he’s in a neck brace yep and we had not seen that before so that was news when Riley answered my question about that and a little bit more history to this T Rosier with a couple of weeks left before the end of the regular season was experiencing some neck discomfort and then sat out those four games with what they were calling neck discomfort and then he didn’t play in the playin games and he was always sort of dayto day day today Eric spola mentioning how you just wake up with something one day and you never really know if it’s going to go away well it turns out it was worse they went they underwent some more testing with doctors and their medical staff they changed it from neck discomfort dayto day to neck spasms which sounds way worse when you’re when your neck as spasming so that’s it sort of evolved throughout that process and in in the Miami Heat’s always nebulous every injury is a gray area no injury is what you think it is kind of world that they live in and so to get something straight from Terry Rosier where it says I’m doing basketball activities I’m lifting weights the neck brace obviously is off now that’s all very good news for T Rosier and for the Miami Heat in terms of what role he could play and what this means to the Heat this is very important because Rosier played 31 games for Miami last season averaged 16 or 17 points per game his shooting percentages were not very good but that’s mostly because it was a small sample size and the shooting percentage was kind of brought down by a slow start but he was starting to play better before he got hurt he actually had a couple of his best games in a heat uniform right before he was sidelined so if he could build on that he was third on the team in drives per game that’s why the heat got him is because of that Rim pressure because his ability to run pick and roll in a very traditional sense and they don’t really have anybody else like that so the the fact that t Rosier is healthy is is a big deal because of that but also because he’s the only point guard on the roster right the Razer I mean come on so what Drew Smith aaser here like what’s going on he’s under only two contract point guard on a standard contract with no limitations on how many games he’s allowed to play and can actually play on in a playoff setting so all right F that guy yeah sorry my my apologies to Drew Smith and Zion Pullin so this is all big stuff you already hinted at it though and this is sort of the big takeaway he told reporters on Tuesday you mentioned him having a pulse on sort of heat Nation right now quote I think the fans are bored right now I think and they want to put as many scenarios as they can for us but at the end of the day we want to run it back with our same team and we want to show the fans what we can bring to Miami airhorn or no airhorn was that was airhorn warranted that was that was a premature airhorn use there I think uh I I like it’s uh it’s good to hear like just on the surface like obviously that’s the kind of positivity that you want any player to espouse but it also is like really walking on thin ice with a fandom that’s already really pissed off and frustrated a little bit beyond just being bored it’s not just like oh we’re plugging names into the trade machine although they’re certainly doing that it’s you know take tank the whole season fire Pat Riley everything that we’ve heard over the last few weeks it’s been pretty disastrous from Heat fans so they’re not they’re not at a point it’s too soon Terry it’s too soon you can’t make those kind of jokes about running it back and the fact that he used those specific three words that’s kind of like TW tweaking the fan base a little but yeah we’re running it back and that’s what we want we want to run it back but if you’re looking at it from a positive point of view and I am I I think that’s the whole goal I I the reality is they acquired Terry specifically to as you said drive to the who put Rim pressure create a little bit more offense juice an offense that had been struggling that with Tyler even if he doesn’t take a leap like even if he’s able just to maintain his 21 points per game scoring like he that he’d be a much better compliment playing alongside Terry Rosier that you get Jimmy back to full strength on a contract year you get bam taking another lead potentially this season you add in himid developing for one more season Nico playing for another season now you add khil we to the mix you know you you’ve got you’ve got the roster the loss of Caleb Martin which we’ll talk about the next segment certainly hurts but as far as maintaining continuity for better for worse I think it’s going to help Miami that’s my personal belief and I think Terry shares that I think the front office and the players themselves share that I don’t think that’s just I don’t think that’s just lip service I think they actually believe you know what we kind of got robbed of seeing how this was all going to play out that we felt confident as players that we could go into a playoff matchup with the Boston Celtics and at least challenge them at least compete at a higher level that we didn’t do crap for 82 games or that we were mediocre at best for 82 games none of that matters because our I was on the playoff prize and unfortunately we just weren’t healthy enough to be able to compete at that point in time so I think that’s their perspective and I think it might be frustrating for fans to hear but it’s also positive because that they believe in themselves that they haven’t they haven’t there’s no tension in that locker room there’s no tension amongst the players at least not overtly like there’s going to be some you know as udonna says that’s this is Miami Heat basketball on a Tuesday but at the same time like they’re not clawing at each other the way we seen other kind of groups in this mediocre phrase kind of T to they they eat each other from the inside your point yes there’s not like this Dark Cloud hanging over the team right there might be a dark cloud hanging over the fan base and people on Twitter and people on YouTube comments this team is excited to get back and try to prove something and when you say they believe that bad luck and injuries were the the main thing hampering this team and that they can come back and compete at a high level I believe that they believe it but I also know that just because they believe it doesn’t make them right you know what I mean like they could believe it all they want it doesn’t make it true and I think that’s sort of if you’re a he if you’re a fan that is frustrated with the lack of progress over the last two offse seasons in terms of improving the roster that’s sort of what it comes down to is you can give me all the oh if we’re healthy nobody could stop us stuff and you can give me the Jimmy Butler bold declaration is all you want and I believe it when Jimmy Butler says it he believes that it’s true just like I just like I believe Terry Rosier is saying we’re excited to run it back and just wait until we’re all healthy my question is when is that going to be because we haven’t seen it a whole lot about this team being healthy that said if we want to do if we want to put some positives on this yeah when Terry Rosier has been on the floor in the limited amount of minutes um on the floor with Jimmy Butler and Bam atab bio if we kind of take that that Trio 1,031 possessions together last season according to cleaning the glass which isn’t a lot but it’s it’s there uh they had an offensive rating of 116.2 that would have ranked in the top half of the League last season much better than where they ended up at at with the 21st ranked offense in the league defensively a defensive rating of 112.5 which is also uh pretty good that’s like top 10ish in that range so you’re talking about a a 14th 15th ranked offense top 10ish defense when Rosier Jimmy Butler and Bam maabo were on the floor together in a limited sample size if I’m Miami that’s sort of my new big three I think I think I’m trying to build around that as long as those guys are healthy and wherever else the other people fit in that’s where they fit in and that can I know we can open up a whole Tyler hero conversation not that interested in doing that right now but small sample but a positive one everybody wants ter Rosier and Jimmy Butler and b bi to be back I believe this team can be better and will have better injury luck because as injured has been right exactly it was as bad as it could be do I still think Jimmy Butler might miss 15 to 20 games yeah just because it’s a contract year doesn’t mean his body gets healthier 35 years old like he could still miss plenty of time but I think that they’ll they’ll be healthier only because it’s a lot harder to be as hurt as they were last season or even more hurt uh than they were last season but um there it is T Rosier cleared for basketball activities all good stuff there we’re going to move on are the walls closing in on the Miami Heat according to one ESPN analyst they are and they’re being lapped by the rest of the East is he right we talk about that next here unlocked on heat today’s episode is brought to you by game time we got last minute us is to hit the Subscribe button hit the like button under the video you can also follow us on your favorite podcast app ESPN Zack had some strong comments about the Heats uh the Heats off season and said that the walls are closing in on them that they are being lapped by the rest of the Eastern Conference or at least by their Eastern Conference Rivals let’s take a listen this this Caleb Martin thing is just another sort of chip away at the armor and you just wonder like how patient are they going to be here because you know what they want what they want is to sit here and waited out for another star to try to get to Miami how long are they willing to wait I agree with you the East Powers have if not passed them by widened the Gap massively yeah and I just wonder like do they get desperate and start kicking around like Brandon Ingram I know they’re interested in marinin I don’t think they have the ammo to get marinin it feels like the walls are closing in a little bit on the heat strong take by Zack low on the heels of Kayla Martin signing with Philadelphia what do you think of it I think it’s a little over the top I mean I think anybody who’s been listening to the show in my takes over the summer or might might feelings they’re not takes they’re I think what he’s giving is a take I think my feeling is a little bit more I won’t go so far as to say genuine but a little bit more measured and I just feel like it’s one thing to say that the Caleb Martin the parture is a loss for Miami and I know that you and I both think it’s also as he said another another Andy armor what Miami Heat culture has developed their pipeline however you want to label it or phrase it but I also don’t think that there’s this massive Gap in the Eastern Conference like you’ve got the Boston Celtics you’ve got the Philadelphia 76ers with Paul George I mean that team talk about health issues I I don’t know that you can look at that and yes there’s a talent Gap perhaps with Miami but I I don’t know that they’re significantly penciled in already as an immediate title Contender given the health concerns for Joel embiid and Paul George so there’s that and there’s the New York Knicks I’m not 100% sold in the Knicks I’m Bridges is a fine player they put a lot of they had a lot of gritty performances last year but adding Mel Bridges reigning everybody else in OG as good as he is again another Health concern there like lost lose Isaiah yeah they lost arenstein like there are questions about that team and I think they’re legitimate so I I don’t think there’s this huge gap between the top few teams in the Eastern Conference and where Miami is you know and that being the the case at least from my perspective I I think I understand what he’s trying to say because Miami as many Heat fans feel is always a player like last summer even they were a player in the Dame Lillard sweep stakes and and in the year before that they were linked to KD and Donovan Mitchell and those Rumblings and it feels kind of flat like having come two seasons in a row now and not being able to to do quote unquote much not even quote unquote they just didn’t do much you know that’s fair they they resigned their guys they added Alec Burks they drafted a couple players that’s where they’re at right now as far as their team is concerned but to say that there’s this massive gap between this team that you know is two seasons removed from an Eastern Conference Finals Birth come on I I just think it’s it’s a little it’s a little hot taky it’s a little quick to to bury a team that has always felt like it overachieved over the last five seasons with Jimmy Butler and I think they’re they’re still an okay team they’ve been an okay team for five years and maybe they’ve outperformed but I don’t think that they’ve lost anything that significant nor do I think that other teams are clearly beating them right now in terms of acquisition of talent they just the deck chairs have moved around a little bit at the top of the Eastern Conference and Miami is exactly where they were last season and I don’t think it’s that big a gap well I think the Sixers have clearly beaten them in terms of acquisition of talent your point about them being rickety is a fair one but they went out and got an all guy and Paul George yeah okay yeah that’s fine what do you mean okay what you it’s fine one they lost James Harden they had James Harden last year nobody seemed to give a damn about the Philadelphia 76ers I mean he’s an all n theying with Tyrese Maxi who’s probably better than James Harden right now but they had they had all three right that was Philadelphia’s big three I guess but you lose Harden allows Maxi to Blossom a little bit more gives them more chances on the ball I’m just saying they got like they clearly got better I think Philadelphia did my God the heat did not clearly get better and I and this is where this is the part I do understand uh Low’s point of view here is the heat over the last two years you can make the argument have gotten worse in terms of the attrition of talent Gabe Vincent Max dreu Caleb Martin those guys are all gone they’ve replaced them with rookies and those players are gone and so you strike out on Damen Lillard you strike out on Donovan Mitchell who never really appears to be available you want to get a guy like like Larry Markin in but you don’t have the assets to do it which sort of speaks to the state of your roster and the state of your ability to get better in terms of not having the draft capital and all that stuff going forward and yet you’ve got Boston making those huge moves last summer that set themselves up to win the championship you’ve got Philadelphia planning on taking advantage of major cap space and then hitting a home run like it does not get better in terms of winning an offseason on paper what and that’s all you have right now is paper that’s all you got season hasn’t started yet so in terms of trying to grade what these teams have done it doesn’t get better than what Philadelphia did I’m with you I I don’t love the Knicks offseason I thought the Mel Bridges thing I’m like okay what are you going to try to out Celtics to Celtics with a worst version of the Celtics okay let me know how that works out for you but they’re still better than the heat and I think even Milwaukee we haven’t mentioned them yet they still have Giannis who’s one of the best three players in the world they still have Damen Lillard who will come back with a full training camp you’ve got Doc Rivers I guess that’s a good thing for a full season it’s better than what it was last it can’t get worse from them for a coaching perspective last than it was last year I’m not writing them off I think you’ve got the heat in probably a third tier in the Eastern Conference and the way I look at the heat right now is they look like a playing team to me and maybe they can rattle off a huge run like they did in 2023 or maybe the playing thing bites them in the ass again just like it did in 2024 and their best player gets hurt in two games that you weren’t supposed to play in the first place and now you’re limping into the playoffs again you know it can go either way and so I think if you’re the heat I you have to be aware if you’re the front office and they’ll signal all the stuff through media and stuff like that do we like our team just look just look out if we’re healthy we still got Jimmy Terry rosier’s back blah blah blah and I bet you if the Heat going back to our Terry Rosier conversation yeah the heat would tell you hey Rosier was our big free agent acquisition I know everybody thinks we didn’t do anything but when we traded for Rosier in January and and got rid of Kyle A’s expiring contract that was us punting on on our chance to sign a big name free agent so Rosier is still kind of considered our big free agent that’s cool you could say that you still didn’t do squat this off season in terms of trades or anything else so far so I don’t I I think when when Zack Lo says the walls are closing in it just feels like there’s not to me it’s like what what’s the out right this is just sort of the team and you’re either going to keep losing guys or or this is just going to be the roster is is Jimmy Butler gonna opt in again next year I don’t think he he plans to do that but who knows what happens 12 months from now so that’s just so that’s where I get it it’s you’re losing more Talent you’re bringing in and you’re running out of ways to add talent and that’s a tough place to be for an organization look I’m just even as we’re talking here Miami over the last two seasons or offseasons has lost streu Vincent Martin Kyle Lowry and Orlando Robinson right those five players I mean they’ve lost Patty Mills Delon Wright those are smaller losses there but and then and to replace him they’ve added Rosier AE hakz Nik yovic let’s be honest because he was let’s starter in the playoffs Heywood heith khil wear and now Pella Larson as well like I think Miami has basically maintained the status quo or gotten better in some degrees like I know it’s it’s tough because you’re looking at streu and Vincent starting in a finals team but I mean they overachieved they exceeded expectations for where they were in terms of the the NBA hierarchy in terms of what their talent was and everything else like that and that’s that’s fantastic no no no knock on them but I remember last year everybody writing off Miami because oh they lost two starters in a finals team it’s like yeah they lost two starters on a finals team that were basically in the G League months before that like I mean it can’t be both things from a national media perspective it’s like wow you’re getting here with a bunch of undrafted players and no names and all these things and then you lose them and then like oh how did the heat always do this it’s so unfair and then you lose them they’re like well what are they going to do it can’t it’s the end of the world I I don’t disagree with what what you’re saying like I I guess the argument against it would be well you were going to draft Hae you already had yic on the roster you had heith on the roster now you’re just going to ask all those guys to do more but you know I said the same thing last week you got to give these guys more opportunities more minutes and all these things as they develop I won’t disagree with you with the fact that they made up for the losses of those developmental prospects with first round picks and in the long run that’ll probably be better for them because the first round picks have more Talent than the undrafted guys yes so I that’ll probably pay off I but it’s the stars on the team it’s the stars on the team need to push that’s where they need to take leaps like you’re committing but you’re asking million yeah you’re take yeah exactly you’re asking you’re committing 120 plus million dollars to four players in Tyler Terry bam and Jimmy Butler and like those four need to play like Superstars at least one of them needs to play like one of them would be nice let’s start there yeah one of them needs to play like a consistent super and everybody else needs to play at least like at an All-Star level and if that’s the cas a fringe All-Star level you know like where Derek white was high level role player that exceeds that and is a fringe Allstar because he just contributes to winning especially when he’s surrounded by really good players on a good team so that’s the whole thing is like you need to you know you need to have that kind of Star level production Miami just hasn’t had it you could say maybe part of it was due to injury or you know Jimmy Butler not giving a damn either way that’s where they were last year I I think you’re gonna I don’t I don’t know that bam is going to take a significant leap I’d like to think so I think that’s possible we we had theorized if he plays power forward we had theorized that if Jimmy had been traded and he makes that shift it down to power forward that this is his team they run the offense through him he’s putting up more threes he could flirt with 25 points per game I think that’s some in the realm of possibility I just I need to see it like he needs to be able to produce at that level Tyler needs that’s sort of what it comes down to it’s we could play the what if game and oh my God if this happened look out sure I need to see it I even need to see it from Jimmy Butler I know it’s a contract year but I need to see him take the regular season seriously it’s a long season for a guy to always be thinking about a cont a new contract you know I I I got to see it to believe it um I think the book is out on Tyler hero he’s a very good player he’s not going to be a star player not at least on this version of the Miami Heat where the fit isn’t quite right with him and the other stars on the team so I don’t know I I what we’re talking about is internal development which is always important but there’s no real other means to add Talent this team is a hair below the second tax apron with a team that isn’t talented enough to be that expensive it’s it’s not even like with the contracts that they give out it feels like it should be more topheavy and it’s not right it feels like there should be three stars on this team the way that Philadelphia has and there isn’t there isn’t um and that’s the part to me that is concerning from an asset management point of view this front office has pulled rabbits out of a hat before but it’s been preco since they’ve pulled the rabbit out of a hat since they’ve pulled off any magic tricks and it feels like over the next year they’re gonna have to do it they’re gonna Andy ellsburg Pat Riley Adam Simon Eric spoler they’re going to get in the lab they have to get into the lab or wherever you create magic tricks and figure something out because this is a team summer it can’t be till next summer you think it has to be sooner no no no I’m saying it it it won’t happen until next summer like but that’s the reality like you’re asking for magic trick to like they can’t do anything midseason like I mean I’m sure we’re dig into it they’re not gonna they’re not gonna no I would be shocked if they did but you could and that’s sort of what I keep getting back to it’s it’s at what point do you make a really tough decision with this team because if you’re just PL if you’re staying the same and the rest of the East is getting better then you’re getting worse you know you’re staying the same I think you’re same your Championship odds are getting worse perhaps is a better way to say that so did Caleb Martin see it all coming is that why he jump Shi to Philadelphia we talk about that next year on lock on heat thanks for making lockon heat your first listen every day make sure you’re subscribed on YouTube let us know in the comments section if you think the walls are closing in on the Miami Heat also follow us on your favorite podcast that so did Caleb Martin take a shot at heat culture on his way out the door here’s what Caleb said when he was asked by reporters in Philadelphia about why he signed with the Philadelphia 76ers he said being a part of that winning culture and something bigger than yourself is something that draws you in is that a shot at heat culture David I don’t I don’t know like I I mean without seeing the whole interv and the context of that question I don’t even know how it kind of I’d love to yeah okay maybe you know what I’ll go I’ll go for well you don’t have to take the bait you could be very you could be nuanced and and and genuine here it’s fine no one’s looking for that Caleb Martin if not for jcole you’d be in China right now I like the I like the version that you were going with without the J.Cole reference um God you hate that thing you hate I bring it up now just to piss you off at this point because it’s just like it’s so easy it just sets you off uh no I think I every time I say that yeah he’s a boring rapper he’s a boringer okay yeah every time I say it it uh it pops off in the comments so come at me he’s no Kendrick Lamar I know that all right and I’ve been on that before not like us don’t come at me as a new I’ve been on this all right so uh to your point this I don’t even know when he said it uh I I think him saying being a part of a winning culture was actually him with having that habit of saying cultureal all the time based off of the time he spent in Miami I don’t think that’s how I kind of took it it was like he can’t help himself but to come out with spms cuz that’s how he was trained right to come up let go the rope in Philadelphia it’s just right right it’s just his language at this point right it’s how he speaks he goes on uh to me the more interesting part about the interview is he was asked about basically dude what happened with the contract stuff right because it really looks like he screwed the pooch on this and so uh he goes it’s part of life you live and you learn you take risks sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t but I’m a True Believer and everything happens for a reason and I feel like I’m here for a reason one of the reasons I feel like is a pathway to try to get a championship so immediately spins it back to Championship winning all that kind of stuff that you would expect a former Heat player to do uh but when he says hey I took a risk and it didn’t exactly work out is an acknowledgement that he took a risk and it did not exactly work out right yeah no it’s it’s uh basically what we’ve talked about you know when we broke down the news and and the reporting around it and uh you know it’s unfortunate for Caleb but uh I I don’t know like I mean he was saying the same things last year like I know that was coming off a finals run and everything else like that but like he’s always because it’s heat culture because it’s the organization that believes that they’re always no matter how unrealistic those expectations might be they’re always this close to competing for a title so I I I think he did see what was happening in Philadelphia and I also think at that point they were the only team that really had that much money to provide for him so I think he took the best deal like I don’t know what he how he would have spun it had it would been Detroit or Utah or any other these C Charlotte you know had he made a return to Charlotte like these cap teams that uh you know had they tried to acquire him or had they able to sign him would he what would he have said in their those introductory press conferences but I wanted my money here you are yeah well I mean he could have said that I wanted to get paid to to take the lessons I’ve learned in Miami and be able to instill new like yeah he would he would have spun it another way you know so he’s in Philadelphia as you said as we talked about the second segment closer to contention than Miami next year and that being the case he gets to contribute to that but I’m not I I find it hard to believe that Caleb has anything but uh hard feelings I mean anything but positive thoughts regarding Miami and everything that happened here over the last three seasons that could he have could if he had possession of that crystal ball that would have allowed him to see the future where he’d be signing with Philadelphia I’m sure he would have told his agent shut the hell up take the extension I want to stay here it’s more money like you know it would have been happier for him for 100% he would have done that so I don’t think he chose to leave Miami so much as he was kind of forced out he thought there was gonna be more money elsewhere and it just didn’t wind up manifesting that way and he just had to take whatever was available in Philadelphia yep I think you hit it I think if if you were able to see the future and be and get an accurate read on I think his agent is probably taking a little bit too much flak for this because every I don’t know that anybody saw like we’re seeing it right now Gary Trent Jr right it’s not like Caleb Martin’s the only one he turned down an extension that would have paid him 18 million or whatever it was a year he he wanted to get 25 million a year Tyler Hero’s 23 24 right and and if he goes into a free if he was supposedly a free agent right now how much money would there be out there for him like I I know that there would have been a lot as these team as these front offices are working through the new CBA and they’re scared of this apron and that apron and all these hard caps and and they don’t want to use the mid-level exceptions because that hard caps you with a different apron and all these things teams are like I don’t get it I’m just not going to spend the money and the money’s just not out there unless you’re a a serious salary cap team now or or I’m sorry a serious cap space team and like you already said those teams stink unless you’re Philadelphia and you’ve planned for this for a couple of years now where you able to open up a ton of cap space and ultimately able to sign Caleb Martin but imagine if Philadelphia didn’t do all that stuff or if they had spent their cap space somewhere else after getting Paul George and all these other guys maybe they went out and got another different a different player then that money would not have been there for Caleb and maybe he does take a a worse contract than what he gave up like the Haywood heis Smith deal to come back to Miami or Cashes in somewhere else on a minimum on a one-year Pro it deal or something like that like thank goodness that money was out there for Caleb you know from the one team that had a little bit of money and was a winning organization so for four years stability there that he did not have in Miami so I mean yeah absolutely uh all right that’ll do it for us today thanks for making lock down heat your first 1. Heat are playin team at best. Cleveland and Pacers are twice the team as No Season Effort Jimmy and the injured Heat. Miami is Finished. Heck…The Hated Trailblazers have a brighter future than this heat team.

  2. Man we been patient since 2020. Still looking at the same core that needs a Bonafide scorer next to Bam and Jimmy. At this point Jimmy got us to two Finals. What have the Front office done to add to helping Jimmy and Bam far as taking them to the next level. Because we all still waiting on what that is going into year 6, so if Jimmy wanna take off from work so be it, until Pat does something about adding another big name to the bunch.

  3. 16:31 key phrase : “TWO SEASONS REMOVED”

We need to stop living in the past.

Last season i was telling ppl we weren’t contenders cause we couldn’t beat a single decent team and everyone said “well look what happened last year, we made the finals as an 8 seed🥹” now look at us…

Why dont we ever talk about THIS year and NEXT year. Its always about “last year” or “the last 5 years” with us

We always brag about how we made more conference finals/finals than other teams in the east over the past 5 years but guess what? Celtics and Bucks actually went and won it. They have something to show for it and we dont

  4. Do the right thing, and trade Jimmy, Tyler, Duncan for picks and tank for this upcoming season. You could get the chance to get either Cooper Flagg or Ace Bailey or VJ Edgecombe to be the face of our team.

  5. Great for jaquez getting reps with team usa and hoping jovic does well in the Olympics. Screw caleb

  6. Anybody interested in Yves Pons? 6’6 7’ wingspan, Uber athlete. Cheap contract. Has no shot but plays above the rim.

  7. In Spolstra and Riley I trust. They’ve gotten us alot of good seasons and some bad. I see a bright future ahead of us

  8. David – take off the rose colored glasses dude. Zach Lowe is correct. Other teams have gotten a lot better. Quit carrying water for the front office.

  9. Both the FO and David are senile at this point, LMAO. I don't think he believes the dribble he spilled for 3 minutes about running it back and self improvements that every team also gets the benefit of the doubt.

  11. I try listening/ watching occasionally…but it’s all Panglossian cheerleading on this show….. and badmouthing other teams… given how many eastern teams are tanking, the Heat, along with 9 other teams , should easily make at least the play-in…. And then the Heat, along with the other 9 teams… have some sort of chance…. But laker / heat “ exceptionalism “ will win the day…. Every single year…

  12. Terry Rozier
    Tyler Herro
    Jimmy Butler
    Bam Adebayo
    Jaime Hawk Tuaw
    Nikola
    Duncan Robinson
    Ware

Play in team? Especially without the injuries???? stfu Wes. Respectfully

  13. I've always been one of the first people ready to call out national sports media on their ignoring or disrespect of the Heat. Zach Lowe is not one of those cases. He was one of the first national media people who caught notice and started singing the praises of Bam's defense. He's never had an axe to grind with the Heat and he's not a hot take artist. Disingenuous from David to say "he had a take" while "I had a feeling."
