DeMar DeRozan on joining the Kings & love for the game with Deuce & Mo

we’re with a six-time Allstar three-time all NBA player the newest member of the Sacramento Kings dear D rozan Demar last time I saw you in this building oh no you killed me you scored 19 points in the fourth quarter outscored the kings in the fourth quarter and you came back and beat Sacramento that was an insane night yeah that was a night I I remember night that night vividly because like I always talk about the you know me being upset that I didn’t get clutch player a year two years ago so I I I kind of Carri that over to the game going in the fourth quarter of just like I got to win this game in the fourth quarter you know like it was nasty man I kind I kind of I kind of took it personal so um that’s where that came from yeah um this is not an exaggeration this is probably the biggest free agent signing that the Kings have had over the years you know they’ve made other trades for like Marquee Talon but like the biggest free agent signing why did you feel like this was right for you winning like you know you you see it from the outside looking in is like you know that’s the place I want to win you know and not just saying it like they all about it you know from top to bottom coaching staff to players um like you see it it’s one of those things that you know the the fans yearning for U the players the coaching staff and when you see something like that you want to be a part of and you try to figure out how can I help to make sure it that happens you want to be a part of it was there anything that you needed to hear to know that this was was going to be the right fit whether it was from dearen or the front office anybody um I just need to hear when yeah that’s all like you know we trying to win we can do something special those words always always move me and it was a genuine you know expression when I heard it from all all those guys you know it’s interesting because you can’t find like a former player coach broadcaster anybody that’s been around you that has anything bad to say and the one thing that like jumps out to me is like your pure love for like all aspects of the game like you’re watching League Pass you’re in the gym you’re just probably being around teammates what do you love about the game when you think about the game like the purest form like what do you love about it I mean for me it’s the imagination part for me I remember being a kid doing a fade away falling on a bed you know it’s it’s the whole I’ll put it like this you know the intro to Space Jam you playing outside of that’s that’s to me that’s that’s the game you know that’s exactly what I feel when I think of the game so to get that feeling from the game you can’t do nothing but fully expect respect it and love the game so that’s that’s I’ve never used that analogy as a space j but that’s for me that’s exactly what it is you can I mean you can see that joy that you play with and obviously that competitive spirit that you play with because what really stands out to me all the time is when I talk to dece about guys is their availability and this stat always sticks out to me you’ve played in 93% of the games in your career is that a mental thing a physical thing what is it that is keeping you out there yeah it’s a little bit of everything you know one thing I always talk to my trainer about when I’m working out in the summertime he always ask me you know what’s the goal for this year and I always say 82 like like that’s always been a goal of mine is to play 82 you know and and because coming from the playing back in the day I hate to sound old but it was a thing to was like you know my mentor Kobe always said like you never know who’s out there to watch you any given night so I’m going try to play every single game so that aspect goes into it challenge yourself just to want to play 82 games there’s so many aspects for me that I just lean on that means so much to me to want to be available every night we appreciate the time welcome to Sacramento I think you’re people get more excited once they like get here and they’re like oh this the energy from the people going to dig it I’m looking forward to it thank you so much

  1. It's going to be really interesting but I will say his playmaking is better now than the early stages of his career and take pressure of dearron fox. I am kinda of worried about the defense but Mike brown is a hell of a coach so I think he will figure it out.šŸ€šŸ’Æ

  2. Iā€™ve heard so many interviews and questions answered and Iā€™ve never heard someoneā€™s favorite thing about the game of basketball is the imagination! What an answer this dude really is so pure and meant for this city

  3. I love that one of his top goals for each year is 82. That's part of what being a superstar is: AVAILABILITY. Just ask the Clippers about Kawhi…

  4. This was a great interview, we are so lucky to get to root for a guy like this and I hope he has the absolute time of his life playing here. His personality actually reminds me a lot of De'Aaron in that they both seem like such genuine, down to earth, likeable people, no phoniness, no pretense, just radiating quiet confidence and good vibes. I think he's the perfect fit personality wise for this team.

  5. I really wonder how good this team will be. He hasnā€™t had near the talent we have for a while. When bulls were healthy with less talent they were the 1 seed until zo went down and were fun to watch.

  6. Demar is a genuine dude who loves the game and wants to be a part of something special. That's so cool. Great interview!!!

  7. Did Deuce not get the memo that the new fashion is to wear winter clothing during this stretch of hot weather? (Great interview D&M!!)

  8. That's how you become great…at anything! By being passion about it. You got to love what you do….then it drives you to be competitive. Of course, it helps that you're gifted.

  9. Idk why but I got chills when he said his love for the game is imagination, and gave that space jam intro example. So cool to live that dream

  10. Congrats @DeuceandMo and all the other Kings faithful. Glad you guys got a player and surge of hype and optimism going into the season! West will be fun and look forward to the season!

  11. Welcome bro!!! You said it best about this team, "They all about it" Fox and Malik are the New Dynamic Due!!! YEAH!!! and they need you DeMar, RESPECT

  12. As a Boston fan,you guys got a all star, pro's pro.Brings you guys credibility Can't worry about draft picks down the road.Congrats

  13. Love this move, but Iā€™m still a little worried the Kings are just Bulls West. Stacked at guard, solid big man (Sabonis is way better than Vuc tho) and lacking in wing department. I do think Fox/Monk/Ellis are better than White/Dosunmu/Caruso, but the teams have similar builds.

  14. DeMar is gonna be great with the younger guys man. Just seems like a good, genuine dude. Great interview yall, let's go 10
