Jayson Tatum says the 2024 Celtics would beat Team USA: “I’m riding with the guys that I just played 10 months of basketball with. I’m taking us against anyone.”

a player on the best team of the decade says this he’s wrong & corny but Ant said he’s the number 1 option on the team it’s considered confidence & cool

He’s not wrong. I could definitely see a healthy Celtics team beating Team USA in a 7 game series. I’d pay a lot of money to see that!!
Ok_Acanthaceae6057
If you subbed the 2024 Celtics team for team USA in the Olympics there is every chance they’d win gold.

JT knows that USAB would have to contend with a pissed off JB. We all saw what happened when he was left off the All-NBA and All-Defensive teams…
creedbratton603
Considering they almost lost to Cooper Flagg and the select team I wouldn’t consider it a stretch lol
andoCalrissiano
Considering the game is only 40 mins long, the Celtics stacked top 6 can really play most of the game if not the whole thing.
tilario
that’d be an interesting way to field the olympic team. that year’s champion minus end of bench players and any international players, and then fill in the gaps with whoever you want.

Healthy Porzingis and obviously Tatum and Holiday… Yeah, I’m taking Boston too.
People act like it’s going to be 10 on 5 or that one team gets 3 balls.
I don’t think Team USA could keep up with our scoring and quite a few of them don’t play defense.
Do I think we could beat them in a 7 game series? Probably not. I don’t think we have an answer for their multiple big lineups, but it would be interesting to see.

Embiid/Davis/Curry/Leonard stand out as players that’d give the Celtics the most issues. Swap out these 4 with mid players and I think a 7 game series with the remaining team USA could be competitive.
Haliburton-Booker-LeBron-KD-Bam is a beatable starting 5 imo.

Lmao of course he does. He wears a shirt with his face on it every day.

Dude is on top of the world! Celtics chemistry is on point.

After watching the scrimmage, I would have to agree with JT. Basketball is a team sport, and our first 6-man rotation, if healthy, is so good. The only reason I could probably argue against that is Steph.

Iu people are insane team USA would win by 30 Celtics needed Indy not to be able to execute an inbound play and a lucky 3 to beat Indy
BlackMilk23
It’s not a ridiculous. I would pick the NBA champion to win the gold medal most years.
A team with at least with 2 to 4 all star level players. Quality role players. 82 plus games of playing together and working out the kinks. That would beat a team of aging stars coming together for a couple of weeks.
PM_DOLPHIN_PICS
I guess are we counting team USA with a clone of JT and Jrue? Like we’re not taking those guys away from USAB but there’s just one of each of them on either team? Because if you remove JT and Jrue and any other Celtics from the USA roster yeah no chance USA beats our guys.
thegoatmenace
Well it’s not that crazy. They have like, plays and strategy. Team USA is gathering for the first time and has no history.
bigdon802
A finely tuned champion offense and defense against All Stars trying their hardest to make their games meld together? Yeah, probably. Obviously the Olympic team would have so much more depth, so the more games they play, the more I’d take the Olympic team. In a single game, I take the Celtics. In a five game series I’d still give them a slight edge. In seven I’d probably give the Olympic team a slight edge, and more than that the talent level will just be too much.
shalrie_broseph_21
Most top level club soccer teams would beat top level national teams.
Yes the top club soccer teams in the world are effectively all-star teams in terms of talent, but so are the 2024 Celtics.
The months they spend practicing together makes a big difference. Give this Team USA 10 months to practice together and sure, but right now? I’d take the Celtics.

I’m just wondering how Celtics JT and Jrue match up US JT and Jrue. Outside of that I got the Cs
ajaxtheangel
which team are tatum and holiday playing for
tonylouis1337
This is further evidence of why Tatum changed his game so naturally, he values this team
GonePhishn401
I think it’d be closer than people would initially assume, and that’s probably true for any championship caliber team vs. a bunch of stars that have little to no experience playing with one another.
