NEW Lauri Markkanen Trade REPORT: Warriors Still Trying To Pull Off Trade, Andrew Wiggins Trade News

[Music] dub Nation what is up you’re watching Golden State Warriors today by chat sports I’m Chase senior hope everybody out there is having a fantastic Tuesday another great show on tap on the docket here and here’s what’s coming up two stories that we want to hit the Warriors really trying to do everything in their power to trade for lii marinin and according to Anthony Slater of the athletic they’re still working on trying to get that deal done it could just take a little while and then also Story number two Golden State trying to trade Andrew Wiggins and that’s been the case for months at this point before we dive into that I want dub Nation to stand up I want dub Nation to show up and show out we are 386 people away from 66,000 subscribers we are closing in on nearly a million video views over the last couple of weeks I know that we can get there the question is can we get there on today’s show here’s my sales pitch if you want Warriors coverage shows and content every single day that are informative insightful entertaining when breaking news happens we do our best to bring it to you ASAP and we involve you then hit that sub button right now if that sounds good as for the latest lri Markin and update he is the apple of the Golden State Warriors eye and the Warriors according to Anthony Slater still pursuing him here’s what Slater had to say in his latest piece not much has changed for the Golden State Warriors in the past several days of a quieting free agency period they remain in pursuit of Utah Jazz forward Lui Markin and’s League sources confirm but have entered the waiting period of what could be a drawn out process marketing becomes extension eligible on August 6th he’s on an expiring $18 million contract and due for a large long-term pay raise there are several within the league who have grown more convinced that the Jazz after exploring Markin and’s trade market plan to renegotiate and extend Markin using their saved up cap space that would take Markin off the table for 6 months if the extension is signed on August 6th bring him back into the mix on February 6th the exact date of next year’s trade deadline if marinan waits to extend an extra day August 7th or Beyond he’d be ineligible to be traded next year an extra bit of Leverage for marketing and an added layer of information to dictate Utah’s ultimate decision on his future clearly there that’s a lot to unpack right Warriors are in this waiting game here where the NBA Summer League is getting underway really once the L Vegas summer league is in session think of that as a networking job and business conference for an industry where everybody goes to Las Vegas for the first few games of summer league and that’s a time where Executives can meet with players where executives can meet with agents where some of these meetings can happen because everybody is in one environment in Las Vegas and it’s very relaxed yet it’s an opportunity to truly get business done so patients here might have to be exercised over the next couple of weeks and if markkanen signs that extension the date that you want to look at is the date that we mentioned from Anthony Slater because if it’s that date after when he becomes extension eligible can’t be traded at all during the 2024 2025 season but if he does land that extension on August 6th then he cannot be traded until the NBA trade deadline here’s how the Golden State Warriors can pull off a trade for Lori Markin and even though right now things are a little bit still and Silent Warriors at their disposal have a lot of first round picks they’re going to have to package those first round picks in order to convince the Jazz who are then going to rebuild if they trademark it in a way to get that deal done because the Warriors don’t have a lot of players outside Jonathan kaminga that the Jazz would be interested in number two the dubs would have to shed existing salaries in order to absorb the contract that marinin is currently under but the contract extension that inevitably he’s going to land because he’s an improving ascending player and the Warriors can clear up money now in that process but also clear up money in the future in order to maintain little bit of roster flexibility and be able to pay Market in that long-term deal there are four players who the dubs can trade away and include in trade packages to help clear cash flow Andrew Wiggins do more than $100 million on his contract Looney Gary Payton those could be some salary fillers and I added Jonathan kaminga here because he’s looking for an extension and he’s extension eligible if the Warriors include him in a trade they don’t have to give him that contract extension thus clearing up some cash today’s pull question is this what is your perfect luri marinin trade idea I want you to put your general manager hat on and let me know doubt in the comment section right now Team USA in session right now practicing against the select team with Brandon psky and Cooper flag Steph Curry I can’t wait to see him in the Olympics for the first time we’re going to see him chucking threes from the international three-point line which is shorter and closer to the basket than the NBA three-point line he’s going to cook because that’s what Chef Curry does if you want to cook with your looks chatsports.com Curry USA you can get the shy right now Curry going to be rocking the number four for America F yeah Story number two what is the future of Andrew Wiggins let’s explore that next here on Golden State Warriors today according to a report the Warriors are desperate to trade away Wiggins and have been trying to move him for months here’s what Evan Giddings of 957 the game and San Francisco had to say over the weekend and I agree with his points Andrew Wiggins has hurt the world Warriors over the last two years more than he’s helped them as a basketball player and so that’s why I think we’ve come to the point now this offseason where they’re doing everything they can to detach themselves from him and the Olympics just happen to be the center point of it because it might be an obstacle to getting off of him if he hurts himself and I just don’t think they want to take that chance and that’s why the Warriors did not want Andrew Wiggins to play for Team Canada because if he got hurt it hurts their chances of dealing away Andrew Wiggins and he’s also due more than $100 million on that contract that he signed following the NBA Championship back in 2022 here’s an NBA Insider sha deini said on the Wiggins front that is the big chip they have the play they looked at trading him at the deadline but there was not anything there for them nothing serious but it is a foregone conclusion they’re going to look to do it again they will have to put in young pieces but he’s their only real path to retooling that roster unfortunately for Golden State that latter statement is true Andrew Wiggins and trading him away to shed that awful contract is a way for Golden State to improve their team and to clear up some money because they are tight financially as far as the cash flow right now what it really requires though since signing that deal Andrew Wiggins has not been good he’s been injured he was away because of a family matter the game has suffered he has been the same player and because of that I think he’s lacking some confidence right now another team would just have to be willing to take on Andrew Wiggins and we’re talking about bottom Barrel teams in the NBA who are okay with taking on that contract to really facilitate a move to help Golden State out is there that team out there you know back in the day OKC would do that we see the Detroit Pistons with all the money that they have they’re just Wheeling out cash barrels to Tobias Harris they brought in Paul Reed that’s the type of maneuvering that would have to take place for Golden State or they could just hope that Andrew Wiggins can rebound and be that guy that he was a couple of years ago but defensively the trends haven’t been good and offensively the game has been spotty can Wiggins Rebound in 2024 2025 hopefully he can because I don’t see how Golden State can move off of that contract why for yes and for no s off with what you think thanks for watching Today’s Show and we’ll catch you tomorrow Anthony Slater, The Athletic, Lauri Markkanen Trade:
“Markkanen, as several have chronicled, becomes extension eligible on Aug. 6. He’s on an expiring $18 million contract and due for a large long-term raise. There are several within the league who have grown more convinced that the Jazz, after exploring Markkanen’s trade market, plan to renegotiate-and-extend Markkanen, using their saved up cap space. That would take Markkanen off the table for six months, if the extension is signed on Aug. 6, bringing him back into the mix on Feb. 6, the exact date of next season’s trade deadline. If Markkanen waits to extend an extra day, Aug. 7 or beyond, he’d be ineligible to be traded next season, an extra bit of leverage for Markkanen and an added layer of information to dictate Utah’s ultimate decision on his future.”

  1. Take a big loss if necessary, but GET RID of Wiggins. The Dubs need players who are Hungary to win, not those who might play good every three or four years when he's not to self-involved to keep his mind in the game and have a winning mentality. It was a plus to get him, because he had his best season with us and helped us to a titled, but that lemon has been fully squeezed. Time to unload him.

  2. The trade is Wiggins to the Raptors for a heavily protected first round pick in 2030, that allows Warriors to offer their 2029 and 2031 first round picks to the Jazz. Jazz get Moody, 4 FRPs (2025-2031) + swaps, and filler for Lauri. Lauri is 27, Jazz suck and they want to suck for the next 2 seasons at least, so Jazz are just looking for the best trade available, that is us. Wiggins going back to Canada for a top 20 protected 2030 first (same pick we used to trade poole), is a fair deal. To make that trade work, we might have to throw in a couple 2nds, and money it would be Olynyk and Boucher coming back to us.

  3. lauri is big fish because no free agency now. if the warriors trade for him, i change team. the price will be stupidly ridiculus

  4. Yes, the Warriors have been aggressively trying to trade Wiggins for the past two months. Nobody wants his declining play along with a bad long-term contract.

  5. 3 team trade: Kuminga and Clarkson to Spurs; Keldon Johnson, Podz, and Moody and 2026 1st and 2028 1st GSW picks plus 2027 swap plus 2025 Atlanta Hawks 1st pick and Spurs 2025 first round pick; Reasoning: Jazz want a lot of pick and dont want to pay Kuminga as he cant shoot 3s which Jazz make a priority; GSW get their guy and can trade youngsters since add some free agents recently; and Spurs add Kuminga who will team up with Wemby as their top 2 stars with Vassel being the #3. Deal really contingent on how much SPurs value Kuminga.

  6. Thank God we've been doing moves aside from focusing on Lauri. If we devoted all the negotiating resources to Utah, we woulda wasted time sooo bad. The prospects of this falling into place is still slim. I think we should start looking for the next big man with the closest skill set. As much as we'd like to throw Post in there, he's still raw.

  7. Package Wiggins/Looney/draft-picks are best to get Lauri! Giving up JK to get Laurie doesn’t make sense; get impact player to give up anyone impact player

  8. What if he doesn't want to sign the extension because he's 27 and wants to WIN.. then they either have to trade him or understand that he's going to play out his contract and they lose him for nothing

  9. All the Dubs have to do is sign a veteran big man and don't allow Wiggins to leave for 2 months again. If they can show that much disrespect to Klay, then they can do the same thing to Wiggs.

  10. They are wasting valuable time here trying to get Lauri.. The longer they wait, they probably wont be able to get anyone. I'm OK trying to get Brandon Ingram or Deandre Ayton if available. They both have size. Ingram reminds me of KD (obviously he's not KD) and Ayton can be good as a big man that can actually score. Love Looney, but he don't score he's a passer first. We need guys that can put point on the board to help Curry.. that's my little take on what we should do.

  11. Enough if the Jazz will still play warriors around forget about Markkanen…just get 7footer just like Markkanen ,just get rid of Wiggins….. He's injury prone player

  12. Some gsw fans dont realize You cant have your cake AND eat it😂
You either want curry to have all the help he can possibly have Right Now to win, which may include giving up Kuminga

Or you are ok with whithering currys final 2-3 seasons playing non-meaningful basketball as they dont make the playoffs, and let the young guys develop.
Option2, imo, isnt fair to Curry. If Curry truly wanted to win, and the warriors dont want to compete for a chip, then i think its fair to give him up to a contender, as much as that would hurt to watch, and then truly just let the young guys develop.

  13. YES, VERY MUCH WELCOME LAURI MARKKANEN…..THE EXCLAMATION POINT, THE MARKMAN!!! WOW, IF CONFIRMED, WARRIORS WILL BE A TOUGH OPPONENT ONCE AGAIN!!!

  14. I'LL BE SHOCKED IF WE WIN ENOUGH GAMES TO GET IN THE PLAYOFFS WITH THIS CURRENT ROSTER 🔥🔥🔥💪🏿. YOUR ASKING A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT FROM STEPH. WITHOUT LAURIE MARKKANEN, WE'RE NOT DOING ANYTHING IN THE WEST.

  15. Miles Bridges is an option for Lauri yet big no to ingram , wiggins/looney/gp/ moodey should be out for ligit center..

  16. Utah has no choice but to trade him.
He is injury prone, if he gets injured his trade value goes down and it be unattractive for teams. Big risk for Utah, sell the house while the market is high.

  17. I really like Kuminga, there's a good chance he might turn into a Giannis, the main obstacle, Steve Kerr. Now, I see Moody as a more skilled player, who can turn into an excellent two way player.

  18. wiggins dont play to win now..after he got 1 ring..and that is the warriors failed to identify..

  19. Why LM? Trade Wiggs + gp2 for Ayton. Blazers have a log jam of bigs. They just drafted a good big. And Keep JK and MM.

  20. The Warriors need Markkanen to be a real contender especially in the west, with Markkanen you can compete for the Championship next year, make that trade.

  21. Simple Solution: GS needs to pull in additional teams along with Utah to help facilitate a trade that includes Wiggins, Looney, and maybe Moody as well depending on the picks they attatch and what the other teams involved are including that Utah values. The only real issue is, if they acquire Laurie and keep JK, can they afford both, and does that mean Laurie or Draymond is playing at the center position?!?!

  22. Wiggins needs a fresh start. He doesn’t seem to like the warriors. I’d put him on the Olympic team to try and build some value.
