Grading The Atlanta Hawks 2024 Offseason…
what is up everybody and welcome back to ler athletes my name is CH today like always an interesting video for you here on the channel today is my Atlanta Hawks offseason review this is going to be a first of many offseason reviews you’re going to see in the next I think I’m going to try and get it for the next 30 days 30 days in a row H I wonder if I’ll be able to you’ll know the answer if you’re seeing this 30 days in ahead uh maybe there’s another video and I actually upload to on the same day but allseason reviews are going to be each team we’re starting alphabetical or so today’s Atlanta Hawks it’s going to be just a little update and a little stuff about the off season kind of talking about um what they came into the season how they’re season ended you know some free agent stuff some draft stuff some stuff like that and then there’s going to be four questions are the main thing about this video which are going to be um will they improve um draft or grade on what I think their offseason was um will they make more moves and then there’s a fourth question what’s the fourth question I don’t really remember and I guess you can look at the end of the video to find out look how I just did that look how I just did that okay so we start off with the Atlanta Hawks let’s get started with the 2023 2024 season so the Atlanta Hawks how did the Atlanta Hawks even get here for the off season um so end of season 10 to the east um kind of a disappointing season for the Atlanta Hawks um you can blame it on uh bad coaching you could blame it on um you know not really getting somebody else in the mix and like a three team or uh getting a third Superstar um just mid and I think that’s the problem with Atlanta Hawks that last season was for the past two seasons honestly the whole dejonte Murray uh Trey young kind of project was just mid mid on Mid most mid team in the NBA and big problem and they lost to the Bulls in the play even as a 10 seed which a lot of people thought that Atlanta Hawks would even win because you know they had Trey young they had Deonte Murray people would Lo up and Jaylen Johnson even played pretty well at the end of the season so a lot of people thought it would work sadly did not and I think that was a big problem and why some change happened this offseason which we’re going to talk about so what was their offseason look um 2024 let’s look at their first the thing with the draft draft compensation got the number one overall pick which I think was a shocker by many 10th best odds for the number one pick still got the number one pick and you know we’ll talk about that in a second with in the 44th pick I have in parentheses cuz they actually would trade AJ Griffin on the second day of the draft for the 44th pick which is actually kind of interesting didn’t I really expect that from them next we have NBA free agents so let’s talk about the free agents quick not really too much to kind of talk about in my opinion you really kind of look I thought it just said I’ve been recording for 12 minutes and I was like how how has this been 12 minutes um you look at the offseason look for free agents not a lot of huge free agents missing um when the asteris are people that are back on the team or at least um or wait is it back on the team or I’m pretty sure back on the team or no maybe it’s actually no no no are still in free agency these are teams people that are still in free agency um they are restricted and could come back easily um Wesley Matthews is actually a big question mark I have been looking up to see if Wesley Matthews signed back with them um one article said he is still in free agency two articles said um he’s playing to come back and and then three were like um there’s teams that have already signed him and two of them were different teams one was Dallas and the other one was the not the Bucks it was the Nets it was the Nets and all those are wrong I know for a fact those are both wrong so I’m just going to sit out on that one and say if you know where Ma Wesley Matthews is tell Wesley I’ve been looking for him and tell me where he’s gone um not really too big all these players kind of leaving would be not a huge shocker I think Sadiq Bay is the one that you know I did think there was a chance of him coming back with the five second round picks kind of being thrown around um in that three- team trade back in the day I don’t think the Hawks actually gave that up I think it was um who threw in the 5sec round picks for him was it the Hawks I think it actually was the Hawks because I know that it was the Pistons the Golden State Warriors with James wisman with um um somebody else involved anyways five second round picks I think was somewhere in there um I thought he would come back by now hasn’t which understandably so there’s a lot of forwards that have came back um with the Hawks and that are on the Hawks now um we’ll talk about that soon but what are the two people that left AJ Griffin we already talked about the 44th pick Deonte Murray which starts off this series on a little Banger because now I actually have some to talk about Deonte Murray leaving is probably a huge shocker or at least maybe not a shocker at least some good news that we could say for the Lanta Hawks Deonte Murray leaving automatically makes the Atlanta Hawks in this weird area which is going to affect this offseason grade going to affect what I think about this offseason cuz are they really done um cuz if you’re Deonte Murray and you just did a rebuild type trade for with Deonte Murray how could I not say you’re done and you’re going to be on a rebuild here soon I don’t know I think there’s a lot of things to consider um but for now jonte Murray was somebody that left and let’s talk about the arrivals if we’re talking about the people that left Dyson Daniels coming in through the dejonte Murray trade EJ Liddell coming in through dejonte Murray trade Larry n Jr dejonte Cody Zeller I think was part of the jont Murray trade in a signning trade I think I know he played for the Pelicans but I actually think they signed him I don’t remember that’s awkward and then we’re going to talk about the two first round picks that you also got this off season with that Deonte Murray trade so not amazing arrivals you could say maybe for the future some of these contracts would look well um Dyson Daniels I think does fit well um if they would be going a rebuilding route now what is your roster for the 2024 25 season right now when I’m recording this video AKA July 8th um 2024 2025 is looking like a rough season for the Atlanta Hawks in my opinion Trey young is still here bogdon bong donovich is going to be here Zachary rare of course your number one overall pick is probably going to be starting Jaylen Johnson at Power Forward two strong young power forwards that are fors that I think really work well for the Hawks and I think you like Clint capella here you have Dyson Daniels who look like he will be playing Off the Bench maybe they put him at shooting guard and try and really start something young and really productive with him Ana kongu is still here I think could be your longtime Center DeAndre Hunter signed an extension till 2026 Kobe buffkin is somebody I wanted to put on here because I think if Trey young would leave I think that could be a lead point guard for them they did spend the 13th overall pick on him when there were some other players wa was the 13th was thunder 12 Thunder was 12 13th 14th 15th 15th 15th 15th I’m just going to I think 15th CU 13 was Raptors 14 was Pelicans so it’s 15th 15th overall pick on him cuz 16 was Jazz 17 was oh let me see if I got my knowledge here Lakers Lakers because I got 17 back toback Kobe buffkin um I do think this could be a good guard he did very well in college someone that’s defensive and has a great offensive threat which I think that’s the reason why they got him on this team was because he was a future guard for them um so you do have players but I think it’s more developmental players and that’s not good if you have a try Young on your team that’s going to win next what is the future so when we’re talking about the four questions on here let’s talk about these what are the four questions and the one was prediction next season dang it I wish I remember well if you’re seeing it now you know found it um will there be more moves I think yes is if the Atlanta Hawks are thinking about you know oh we still want to go into this rebuilding phase I feel like Trey young doesn’t make sense on our team then of course there’s going to be is they think this team is good enough to go into the playoffs they are insane and I get that you might think that this is a good team to really go out and go crazy but the fact of the matter is Trey young is going to make this team not good or uh make this team um not bad and the other people on your team are going to make it not good and you don’t have your picks so what is the point of you trying I I like I believe there has to be if they want to rebuild a three- team trade with the Spurs getting the Atlanta Hawks uh back their picks while getting good picks in the future something like that makes a lot of sense in my opinion I think it makes more sense for them to potentially do something like this um I just think that you know I feel like there has to be more moves I think this can’t be the final team and if they want listen listen this can’t be the final team if they want to win and if they want want to rebuild this can’t be the final team there’s both sides this can’t be the final team cuz it’s not going to work out will they improve I’m going to say no is granted the 10 spot’s not a great Improvement uh or uh can’t has some room to improve so saying that they’re going to be 11 through 15 is kind of harsh when you kind of look at now you know the real um what’s it called East I mean you can easily say that you know the Wizards Nets and Bulls are going to be at the bottom aray so then are they going to be 12 or 11 possibly we’ll have to see um so will they improve I’m saying no is cuz I do want to say that I don’t see a way that they improve but with the teams tanking now there could be a way that they still jump up to you know we’ll talk about predictions next season but it’s not a Improvement so what is my prediction next season for them in my opinion right now I’m looking at Ninth to 13th spot I do have an astri here because if they do uh start a rebuild I think that it could go to 15 and I would move this more to maybe 11 to 15 if um they keep the same team I would say 9 to 13 if they trade somebody get a superstar somehow someway I’d be shocked um it would probably be around I want to say like maybe like that eight to 8 to 11 range I like that a little better um but I generally believe a rebuild is probably coming and that it’s going to be more to I almost did say 15th I almost did but I think that the Wizards and Nets have that unlock so that’s why I did 13 I think it makes more sense especially when you have a Trey young still on your team so what is my grade overall this off season the end of the video what is it going to be a C+ when you really look at the Hawks you were stuck in this gray area you had to make two deals to really get out of the gray area or you had to make one deal to get yourself you know into a better area into a winning area um but I think there was is a trade with for Brandon Ingram but they didn’t want to give Clint capella up and they don’t want to pay Brandon Ingram so you know there’s a big problem there in my opinion and I think doesn’t make sense for them right now to keep a Trey young so if they are planning to go into this offseason with this team it’s not looking good I’m gonna be honest it’s not looking good you did not improve you had a pretty bad off season in my opinion doesn’t make sense I know you had number one pick but you could have used that to get something else or you could have used it for you know generally just trying to I don’t I don’t know just trying to start the rebuild I think it made sense other than that I hope you
