[Murphy] Immanuel Quickley’s contract contains $2.5M per-year in “unlikely incentives.” So his salary for cap purposes will be $32.5M each year, $35M for calculating the apron level, and $32.5M or $35M for luxury tax depending on whether he achieves them or not.

I’m guessing 2.5m for DPOY lol
Cool.
I’m excited to see a full year of him being the starting PG hopefully with no injuries
Massive news .
We were expecting 27.5M AAV, Inclining structure 8% increase each year, 4 year contract
We got 35M AAV but 32.5M net of unlikely bonuses, flat contract , 5 year term.
It’s slightly above our original projection but it’s much closer.
I can’t stress how much I like the flat contract.
If Quickley got 35M I think nobody going to care. Hitting unlikely bonuses means that something is going very good

napkin math but this means it’ll start out 23% of the cap and drop to 15.8% of the cap by year 5
Just a little clarification on how likely/unlikely incentives work, they are calculated based on the previous year but applied to the upcoming year, and can switch back and forth between likely (factored into the cap) and unlikely (not factored in) throughout the contract. Hit the objective one year, and the cap hit doesn’t change for that year, but becomes ‘likely’ and affects the cap for the upcoming year.
Guessing the incentives are all-star and all-nba
Will be interesting to see what those incentives are. Unlikely just means he didn’t achieve them last year.
RJ’s contract has unlikely incentives for making all-star, all-NBA, or all-defence. I wonder if it’s the same for IQ, or more stats-based incentives, or team performance incentives.
Either way, deal looks better than before.
