the Le we’re going to be asking with the Spurs recent additions and movement and player roster moves are the Spurs now could they possibly be a playoff team playoffs we’re talking about the playoffs here and then talk about summer league uh Spurs after two games out in Sacramento at the California classic but first some Spurs news and notes that you may have missed uh wiim bayama he’s fine he set out team France’s last game against Germany it was an exhibition game he’s just sick that’s all calm down he’s in one piece everybody he’ll be fine uh Team France made the announcement ahead of yesterday’s game so he did not play uh the Olympics for France they’re automatically in so he has a long set of games and look a little bit of rest can help Victor wiama but he’s fine he just got a little under the weather in other Spurs news the Spurs have renounced the rights to cidi Osman Dominic Baro David Duke Jr and according to report Big Mamu that’s right the Spurs at least reportedly have made them free agents if it is true and the Spurs have renounced their rights to David Duke and big Mamu Sandro then they are now unrestricted free agents this bir made qualifying offers to them earlier this offseason making them restricted free agents again no official word on that but as of right now technically all those guys are free agents and available uh for other teams to poach uh this was all part of the financial move to help facilitate the Harrison Barnes deal uh Chris Paul signing and whatnot uh and part of that you know renouncing players Shi to the roster the Spurs also announced that they’ve completed officially the deal with Sacramento and Chicago they’re part of that three team deal Spurs have officially now acquired Harrison Barnes in the deal and the right to swap first round picks with the Kings and in 2031 they also sent Austin’s Spurs Alum rayquan gray to the Bulls uh so uh that’s still Now official the Spurs also have waved Charles Bassie again that’s part of the deal part of making the financial numbers work Spurs are going to try to see if they can bring back Bassie but as of right now he is a unrestricted free agent for those of y’all who remember this person offered him a deal last season that was non- guaranteed so that’s why he’s out there right now for a team to pick up but it is official as far as like moving Osman I think that was kind of seen already you know they’re going to let him go and make room for uh the young players and other veterans Harrison Barnes so that’s not too too surprising but the only one that’s a little surprised right now is big momu uh Spurs really like what they saw out of him to close out the season again just because they wave these guys doesn’t mean they can bring them back that’s still a possibility they just got to work the numbers work the rules there’s a chance that some of these players could come back but uh yeah um it’s more rostered movement as the the offseason continues and other Spurs news and it’s kind of a nice touchy one uh congratulations well first of all there’s a championship coming from the Spurs yeah I’m not kidding yes but from a San Antonio student yes San Antonio’s own young mathlete herself Camila Ramirez she won the 2024 NBA math hoop Global championship in New York City uh she was selected to represent the Spurs math hoop program and uh participated in the national competition now she paired up with the Pacers uh young a student athlete Elena Mora Gomez and they both marched all the way to the title they beat uh 12 teams the 12 teams of two and they were the last team standing and as a matter of fact we have a picture of the Victorious young athlete herself and her teammate there look taking bring well taking home to San Antonio the 2024 uh math program title congratulations to Camila and her partner making San Antonio proud bringing home a title to San Antonio hopefully the San Antonio Spurs will get there soon but nevertheless congratulations to Camila for winning the 2024 math well NBA math Hoops Global championship and finally in other Spurs news uh Spurs rookie Juan Nunes has reportedly signed a deal to stay in uh Spain uh play overseas not be coming over to San Antonio this coming offseason there season period uh that’s why another reason why he’s not with the Spurs summer league team not only because of that deal but also because he’s playing for team Spain for the Olympics so it looks like the Spurs have a draft and stash right now I think this is a topic we’re going to be covering uh this um oh sometime soon on lock on Spurs I think we need to talk about him one Dynamic player but for those of y’all that are thinking that he might be wearing a Spurs uniform next season that looks like they may have to wait now there is an NBA out clause in his deal but apparently at least according to reports that it is a lengthy deal so who knows when we’ll see Juan Nunes come over we’ve been through this before remember Lis Scola remember Thiago splitter all those Euro players those overseas players South American players uh it will happen this sp’s just got to you know pay that buy out and onto the NBA Juan Nunes comes but again looks like we’ll have to wait to see Juan nun playing for San Antonio all right there’s your quick Spurs news and notes up next we have Rudy compos will sweep the league we’re conflicting uh Rudy has family issues I have work issues so we got to get this done but Rudy it’s going to dive right into it the Spurs have been making moves you know letting Devonte Graham go bringing in Harrison Barnes Chris Paul signing um kind of makes you think well you know the Spurs added that veteran presence Barnes and Paul they have experience with young team you know these guys going into what year four year five wimy is going into year two huh kind of begs a question Rudy is this team a playoff team as the roster Constructor right now Rudy what do you think can this team make it to the NBA Playoffs well even with the additions that they have right now they’re really not a playoff team the West is still really super loaded I mean you can probably name what six teams right off the bat in Denver Minnesota Oklahoma City um Phoenix Sacramento who just got better Dallas uh even the Pelicans right now those are all teams that are pretty much going to be in the playoff hunt um and then you got to remember there’s a couple of teams that are still in the playin you know pretty much a guarantee a playin spot so barring injury to any of those teams right now the SARS are probably not looking into the playoffs right now yeah you know I I might push back a little bit I think they can make a serious um run and I think they can get through that through the playin tournament I think as Constructor right now I put them in the play playin spots I think they can I think this is a team on paper as of right now probably is a little better than Houston on paper right now this team I think can probably find This Groove once the new pieces get acclimated to wimy and vice versa and the team gets going I think they could be a serious issue in the west uh come around Allstar break they added the veteran presence they added the that that youth is going to be coming in with a lot more experience I don’t see this team really going through another 10 plus losing skid as we all witnessed last season I don’t think that’s gonna happen I think Chris Paul buys you you know some wins I think Harrison Barnes buys you some win I think wimy is gonna buy you a lot more wins with the experience you know from last year then of course in the Olympic play and he’s going be raring a go uh Rudy what about that path what about via the playin for a spot seven or eight playing spots going to be and the reason why I say it’s going to be tough is because for a playing spot last year you had to win at like 41 games to make the playing spot I mean can we essentially say that this team is 19 games better than what they are uh than they were last year currently constructed I know Chris Paul’s a veteran you know he’s actually going to what year 20 Harrison Barnes is a great addition as well but again I mean do those two guys really add 19 plus more wins alongside side weby his second year that’s a very tough talk an order to ask from those two guys um the team currently constructed I think you’re probably still looking at around a 30 win mark 30 win mark uh Chris Paul’s going to improve it he always improves every single place he’s played that a team has improved the year after uh sometimes by leaps and bounce sometimes by a few games but they have improved so there’s no telling you know if it’s going to be a playin team or a playoff team but as of constructed right now it don’t see an additional 19 wins I mean like I say I hope I’m wrong uh but even with these two additions they still need one more addition um and it’s going to be one more score like a really BigTime score to put them into that 40 plus wi Mark you okay let’s just pretend now let’s just say they swing for the fences and they get Lori marinan is he enough to push this team into the play the playoffs situation as currently red if you add Lori Markin in uh I’m I’m definitely seeing 45 to 47 wins so uh yeah definitely if you add Lorie Markin that works a lot better for the Spurs well let’s look at the field so you you this’s see the usual suspect so we know Denver is going to be there Minnesota’s going to be there Dallas is going to be there all right so there’s three spots already right there uh who else do we got in that in that Beast of an East Oklahoma City Oklahoma City so that’s four spot right there then there’s Dallas Dallas is likely to be in the mix as well okay that’s five at least one more spot does gz team that’s not injury Pro so you got Memphis leaping into spot well at least getting into one of the six spots then yeah even Phoenix but I mean the biggest uh the biggest movers in the west that we’re not talking about right now are Sacramento that’s true that’s true Sacramento did get better at the addition of demard De rosan although defensively I think they took a big hit um you know that Harrison Barnes was able to do everything for them offensively and defensively but Sacramento definitely is surging right now D do I dare Rudy throw in Houston in the mix Houston was knocking on that playin door last season they could push for either a playin spot maybe a six seed Houston is one that again and I think since they won I believe 40 games last year 41 games last year they were right there knocking on that playoff uh play in I’m sorry play in door I think you’re going to get the same from Houston but probably less wins so I would put them probably around that 37 38 wi Mark they really improved last season but again the West has kind of gotten a little bit better so I I think they’re they’re probably knocking on that 41 door but no I wouldn’t put them definitely in the plum spot actually they only there really is only three teams in the Southwest Division in the Mavericks Grizzlies and Pelicans who I think are better than both you know the rockets and Spurs obviously but uh those are the three teams that I have pretty much knocking on that play SL playoff door yeah we’re not even bringing up uh New Orleans in the addition of dejonte Murray which uh could really push them um up there as well San Anton’s in for a fight I I don’t think they will get a playoff spot one through six but I can definitely see them in the mix for a play in spot it’ll be fun to watch I me can you imagine Houston and San Antonio battling it out for a playing spot I mean coming it down to the wire I think that would be that’ be fun huh yeah that’d be a new addition to the I 10 rivalry from back in the days you know I I I look I look at this squad right now as presently constructed and I’m liky what I’m seeing I mean they got depth at almost opposition now they have a remember well we need a point guard now it’s a point guard log Jack Chris Paul Trey Jones Stefan Castle Blake Wesley uh they they got swing guys they got Harrison Barnes they got Devon vasel uh soan Kellin Johnson so they’re deep in that they’re also deep in veteran presence now with the addition of Paul and uh Harrison Barnes big man deth do you think that’s still an area they need to address because as of right now it’s pretty much wimy and Zach Collins yeah I mean until they resign Mamu I think that the depth on the big men uh the front court is going to really be needed um you know you got to deal with guys like yic goar and not W goar and carony towns you still have some big guys that you have to deal with in the west so I think Shing up another big man is needed but you know what it’s not a major priority there’s some big guys out there in free agency that you can have that are kind of just going to spell WB and maybe Zach dolins for a little bit um you’re not going to go out and get there and get a massive uh signing for the front court so I think they’re okay in front Court they just need to kind of sure up maybe get another guy uh maybe like the 12 guy on the roster to just kind of be there just in case yeah I I I like this team I think this team’s going to be crazy competitive I think this is a team where um opposing teams can’t circle on the calendar and be like well we got a w here well we can bring back our gu of injury you know against the Spurs you I think this is a team is going to be a serious threat uh in the regular season during games I Denver found out I mean if Denver had beaten San Antonio last season you know perhaps they’re the ones you know marching to the NBA finals right now or last season excuse me but I think you you take you take what we saw to close the season the way they were operating you know without some of their key players I mean I think soan sat out vasel sat out Kellin Johnson sat out and sure it was the end of the season maybe teams were kind of Ming it in but I think they’re going to build upon that carry that into the new season add in the new pieces from Paul Barnes Etc and I think you got yourself a really really fun Squad right now that’s not going to be the LA laughing stock of the NBA as it was last year I know wimy is probably you know excited for this you he’s plays again he gonna be playing with a Hall of Fame point guard he’s playing with a season veteran now with Barnes he even said it last year that if I recall correctly he he said that sometimes this team could use some veteran presence you know he wasn’t trying to take a shot at the team he was just you know it is what it is it was a very young team so you throw that in the mix and he’s seeing the Spurs make moves to try to at least be competitive and I think the signal that we’re reading from these moves is that they’re going to try to win they’re going to really try to win of course all this could be for not if you know they you know end up waving Chris pod you know the mid-season Point go get yourself a championship Barnes do you too go go go you know and then oh we’re back to square one but as of right now I I like this team I know you say they’re not a playoff team one through six I I think they’re a playin team and I think they can challenge for a playoff spot via the playin tournament he is Rudy compos of sweep the league we always appreciate him taking time out of his busy schedule and getting up super early but then again that’s you Rudy you love getting up it real is to make sure that everybody on the show knows their role and Gio knows his Ro so as uh The Rock Says layth the Smacker down I’ve got to do what I got to do all right well your summer Spurs are in action right now and they are getting things going on the court over at the Sacramento California classic and it’s been a rough start uh for the summer Spurs they are 0 and two two losses against the Kings uh you know I get it Rudy it’s summer league sure you know we don’t really care about wins and losses but nevertheless there are some bright spots and after two games let’s talk about the rookies now Stefan Castle did not play in the Summers Spurs second game against Sacramento but nevertheless what did you see out of Castle that really brought a smile to your face or maybe some concerns so reviewing the tape and you know I had a lot of people tell me that uh I have to look at the game watch the game watch the game I said okay I did because I kept saying that I really envisioned him and Chris Paul being in the back court together to start the season but a lot of people saying about his point guard so I studied the point guard against Charlotte and what I did like was he he was pretty much reminded me of Derek white with the Spurs where he was just filling up stats left and right eight rebounds um he had an assist he scored I believe uh 12 points I mean he had three assists I’m sorry six rebounds uh 12 points so I mean there a stat stuffer and that’s what you definitely want to see what I really loved is in 21 minutes Jeff he only had one turnover and that is so key for a rookie because you’re always seeing rookies very turnover prone for him to take care of the ball the way he did um I’m really impressed with Stefan Castle I already called you know we said he was one of the top prospects in the draft of not the top prospect in the draft so right now it’s looking pretty good for Stefan Castle uh I’m anxious to see if he plays another game in summer I know you and I talked about are they going to shut him down after a couple of games so hopefully he gets another a couple more games under his belt yes Castle what I also liked about him what I saw in that first game is Pace he was really controlling the pace you know he wasn’t getting flustered you know really going at his game you know attacking the rim finding the open guys and he at least for one game and I get it at Summer League you know kind of dispill the rumors that he can’t knock down a shot I mean he almost hit a logo shot uh three-point shot during the game and this whole thing is he a point guard is he an offg guard I think he didn’t do both and he was showing that he does have facilitating skills as a point guard in that first game finding the open man so I think the Spurs definitely have themselves a gem of a player I I don’t know if he’ll be sat out for the rest of the summer league I mean you got Vegas coming up next I mean I think I would love to see him play more there because you can see a lot more competition when they’re playing yeah teams uh so hopefully he’ll get going but yeah Castle so far A+ in a one game debut at Summer League out in Sacramento uh Harrison Ingram had himself a stumbling game the first game didn’t really do much but in the second game against Sacramento scored 11 points uh you know I like what I’m seing this kid I like this kid has a motor and he reminds me of the kind of player that’s going to become doing the just the dirty work just the Dirty Work to whatever I need to do to get wins if it’s go scoreless but grab 11 rebounds he’ll do it is it’s you know using six fouls to slow down an opposing player he’ll do it early uh thoughts on Ingram what do you think you know I mean you gotta always talk great about a North Carolina kid there’s no doubt about what I love about Ingram is yeah he’s got a motor on him but where he is going to Value the most for the San Antonio Spurs uh he’s going to be really good under the glass I mean his first game he had what seven rebounds I mean he did a lot of the Dirty Work like you’re saying reminds me a lot of Spurs fans when to go back into a little bit of History he reminds me of a guy that could turn into like a mly rose type of player just kind of come in spell the Spurs a little bit Yeah spur spell the Spurs a little bit here grab a couple of rebounds make a couple of key baskets that’s exactly what I feel they could get out of Harrison Ingram is kind of like that Malik Rose type of player a guy who made difference in the title run so I mean definitely uh could be a staple in San Antonio maybe not the seventh or eighth guy off the bench but definitely could get some minutes on once he kind of goes through the Austin rigers for a while yeah yeah he’s definitely gonna be Austin bound and you know he’s def he made it very clear he’s fine with that if that’s what he he needs to do but I think he’ll do well in that because also too there’s kind of a log Jam at that position you know with Vel there um you know soan there Kellin there there Mamu if he does come back and officially signed you know so I think in Austin will be his best bet and he’ll likely tear it up and make all Spurs fans say why is he in Austin bring him to San Antonio look what he’s doing you know there’s gonna go that whole debate you know a guy that’s kind of really shiny and bright for me is James buay you know he’s playing pretty good right now he had double figures scoring in the first game he had 11 points in the second game against Sacramento attacking you know really showing off his handle you know how every season or every summer league there’s always that one guy the Spurs discover I and he’s been of the Spurs system already he played with Austin Spurs already but yeah I think the Spurs got themselves a a scoring option at the guard spot if needed are you familiar with James buer I mean what do you know about him and what have you seen so you know with James buer he’s he’s kind of like a journeyman I don’t know if he’ll ever make it to the uh the actual roster per se but I mean you’re right he he’s a guy that’s going to be able to come in score a little bit for you I mean honestly I I would say you know I think he went to San Francisco if I’m not mistaken part of the Dons um where basically came out in 2022 so not too long ago and again you’re just gonna get a guy that’s a hard worker but he’s not going to ever probably be on an NBA roster if that makes sense um kind of a journeyman kind of a guy that unless you’re just injury Riddle then you can call him up but uh a great player I mean no no knock on him a great player he’s probably gonna be in the J League again this season um but again he’s just kind of a journey man but I love how he plays in in the uh in the uh summer league because what he does is he brings a lot of these guys like Castle Ingram he’s gonna make them better I’m sure he Proby goes hard in practice he goes hard in games he’s showing them how to be a professional and that’s the kind of guys it reminds me a lot of MLB where you’re in the farm system a guy in the farm system for so long he’s teaching these young kids how to be a pro and how to get ready for the next level so I like him uh you know he’s kind of like the coach on the floor when it comes to the G League I like James buer but again I think he’s a journeyman but hey there’s nothing wrong with knowing your role on a team in the league it’s also good to know that the Spurs have insurance and the uh you know and James should you know knock away something happens to one of the guards you know injury or you know rest you know they maybe they can tap him to come up from Austin to San Antonio but even last year in Austin you know just really playing really good uh this year at least in summer league action through two games again showing that you he has what it takes and I hope he either he makes in San Antonio or elsewhere and I think he deserves it you know really really deserves it and if he gets picked up by another NBA team go so be it go go do your thing uh but all in all yeah the summ spur still winless uh they are 0 and2 they’ll next face team China in the California classic um and then I think that’s all she wrote and then they go off to the summer league where some real fun begins where they play the team will play against the likes of Zachary ret and alexar so that’ll be fun fun things by the way uh you know shout out to remember this guy see if you remember this guy James we camp uh or Joe we camp I should say Joe we camp playing in Australia now so he’s out of the NBA uh out in Australia playing with the Melbourne team uh really good kid I I got to know him a little bit when he was in San Antonio uh maybe he’ll find his way back to San Antonio one day and uh you know this is the path and there’s no knock on that because let’s just face it Rudy these overseas or non-nba leagues they produce some good talent don’t they they really do but a lot of people fail to realize is they can make more if not just as much over there than they do in the NBA I mean look at guys like uh Jimmer fet and another couple well one other guy in particular look how big of a career Stefon Marbury made by going to China I mean his career went from NBA Allstar street legend to basically basketball God
