Detroit Pistons Pick Up Paul Reed Off Waivers

Detroit Pistons Pick Up Paul Reed Off Waivers

you guys we finally have a backup center I know that was something that a lot of you guys were mentioning during the podcast last weekend you’ve mentioned it all throughout this free agency process like what are they going to do with the backup center position James wiseman’s in Indiana Jaylen Duran needs a backup center well Tran langon strikes again he gets a guy from Philadelphia and it is Paul Reed Shams Kania just tweeted this out a couple of minutes ago let’s read the Tweet real quick the Detroit Pistons are claiming Paul Reed off free agency waivers sources tell the athletic and Stadium Reed is in the second season of a three-year $24 million deal and now bball Paul joins Detroit Hold Up Wait A Minute bball Paul Bro that is probably the best nickname I’ve heard in a while bball Paul love it and I love that the Detroit Pistons again what did we need at backup center what does traon go out and do goes and gets a backup center to backup Jaylen Duren Trent langon has checked every box this off season he got more perimeter spacing for Kate Cunningham and he just checked another box and getting a backup center because the Pistons really didn’t have a backup center I think a lot of us for all maybe it’s going to be Stu maybe Stu is going to play that backup center well you got Paul Reed now Stu doesn’t have to play backup center Paul Reed good Defender can protect the rim and occasionally can step out hit a three-point shot I I just love this signing for the Pistons this is just a really good rotational big that you can have um in the game and when embiid was out he did start some games and he put up some pretty good numbers I mean this is a really uh good uh signing if you are the Pistons I do want to go over the basketball reference and kind of go look at his stats over there so let’s go up to his uh profile right here so Paul Reed um as sham told us his nickname is bball Paul or ali um Allie’s actually kind of fire but so is bball Paul I think we’re going to call him bball on this channel so 69 210 uh 25 years old just had a birthday on June 14th got drafted by the Sixers in the second round in 20120 was one of the uh Last picks it looks like 50th overall and he spent his last four years with the Philadelphia 76ers now if we do scroll down and look at his numbers this season with Philly he played 82 games he was playing Center he started 24 of them obviously you know and beat was injured so you know Paul did have to step up and play center for them 19 minutes a game uh shot 54 from the field 36 almost 37 from three um free throws he shot about 71% rebounds six rebounds a game assist 1.3 steal 0.8 blocks one block a game and committed around 2.4 personal fouls but put up seven points a game so he’s giving you seven points a game six rebounds one block a game as they backup center I mean guys like I I love this signing if on the Pistons he’s he’s 25 it’s not like one of those backup centers that you’re looking at and you’re looking at free agency and you see all these backup centers and they’re like 36 37 38 years old getting a guy that’s actually pretty fairly young and if you need him to you know play starter minutes he’s more than capable of doing that and obviously when we look at the three-point percentage it’s done really low Val volume he only attempted uh 0.7 so not not even a full attempted game but still made 36% I’d be really curious to see if he shot more if that percentage would stay the same or dip a little bit um field goal percentage you know 54% like that free throw percentage is a really good indication you know 70 71% which is you know average once again though this is such a good value signing if you’re Detroit you’re getting a backup set in which I think a lot of us had questions about if we were going to get one via trade or um you know whatever it may be free agency we get one off the waiver wire I think a lot of you guys were you know pounding your fist on the table for Paul Reed so R of Applause to all the people that wanted Paul Reid you’re getting them now but talk to me down below in the comment section what you think of this signing for TR in langon and the Detroit Pistons do you like it do you like the signing of bringing in Paul Reed as a backup center on this team I will talk to you guys down below in the comment section like always hope you guys are staying safe take care I’ll catch you guys in the next video peace [Music] oh [Music]

Today I reacted to the news of free agent Paul Reed getting pick up on the waiver wire from the Detroit Pistons and what this means for the backup center spot.

  1. Taking him off wavers basically makes him a 2 year 16 mil deal. Will still fit in that room exception and Malik Beasley in the normal space leaving the pistons with still at least $14M to work with this off season! all the new money is off the books after 2 years and I think only the Tobias money is guaranteed after 1!

  2. All this means beef stew is getting cooked soon. Not long now there going to be breaking news of a trade for a back guard and some assets.

  3. All these signing is more proff that our roster was horrible. Stu is more of a backup 4 with the ability to stretch the floor slightly . I have us double down on our win total from last yr. Yes 28 minimum

  4. The Pistons are gonna mess around and win about 30-35 games next year, or at leat be watchable the whole season! Im excited!

  5. What this tells everyone the pistons core are the past years draft picks. Stew backup 4. Duren starting 5 etc etc. Everyone wanted these guys traded that won't happen they have a good core to add pieces around them and he did. Weaver tried and failed for the reasons Gores stated too many people in the kitchen and cook not knowing how to be the chef
