Well well well, look who's "not clutch" and "can't handle the lights". Buddy had an injury-ridden season and family struggles, give him a break.

  1. Garland averaged 22 and 8 on 46/41/86 playing with Don

The ‘fit’ issue is overblown (on offense at least)

Who remembers Darius’ rookie year? He was too thin and couldn’t get into the paint, the main thing that changed that offseason leading to a [break out soph year](https://www.reddit.com/r/clevelandcavs/comments/kmjuq5/wake_up_darius_garland_is_the_real_deal_cleveland/)? He gained 17 lbs in the offseason

He lost ~20 lbs last year due to the jaw injury and got bumped off his line whenever he tried to drive

My view is Darius will be just fine and in the very least is worth WAY more than he showed last year

Ultimately I think Don should be our PG and see DG moving eventually but not till a much better wing option hits the market

We all watch the 4th Quarter and last 5 minutes of games. This is a Shot Clock stat, not a clutch stat.

I’m not trying to hate on Garland but he has not been a closer. Garland was viewed as “running out of steam late in games” with Rubio injured so we traded a 1st for LeVert, who wasn’t the answer. Then we traded for Mitchell, who is.

The issue with Garland is how bad he was overall in his first two playoffs these last two years.

His first year wasn’t awful but was below average. But I felt it was fine to ignore it, as it was his first ever playoffs.

The issue became real when this year, with playoff experience behind him, he somehow played even worse than his first year. Had we not had so many injuries you could have argued he was legit unplayable.

When you get paid like he does, eventually regular season stats don’t matter in judging you as a player. Where instead how you perform in the playoffs is the only factor that does matter. Which so far his performance has been awful.

So until we see that, it’s hard to have a ton of faith in him.
