Celtics Sign Jaelen House to Summer League Roster | Reacting to Best Jaelen House Highlights

these guys are ridiculous these guys are [Music] ridiculous now how about them damn Celtics and we are back with another how about them Celtics video Sam I here recording on Tuesday July 9th and we are looking at Summer League guys today Jaylen House of New Mexico Eddie House’s son who will be on the Celtics summer league roster uh heading in to this summer we’ve looked at Tristan enaruna and Ron Hopper so far we’re putting them all on a tier list and now we’re getting to Jaylen house uh Sam how you doing today excited to watch Jen summer league preview yes it’s kind of fun that it’s like a familiar face a lot of people might remember his face when it was a lot younger being like on the bench when they were winning in 2008 but it’s pretty cool uh to have Eddie House’s son Jaylen as a part of the summer league team as we’ll get into like had a pretty solid super senior season at New Mexico where he and his boys won the Mountain West championship tournament so that they did Jaylen house spent uh Five Seasons in college uh the final three with New Mexico is final year 31 games average just under 16 points three and a half rebounds three and a half assists 2.2 steals almost 2.3 uh while shooting 37.4% of the field 32.8% from Deep not the best efficiency however he he got buckets he put the ball in the hoop it just wasn’t the most most efficient way of doing so so we can take a look at some of his highlights from New Mexico we have some highlights from his g-league Elite Camp game as well so we’ll watch a little bit of everything here um we can start with his 29 points against Boise State in the tournament though I believe this is in the tournament no this was the Midwest West tournament yeah mount West tournament sorry which is in Vegas jayen now 6 feet tall though so not the biggest guy uh in the world definitely small skinny only 165 so um definitely a smaller player I don’t know yeah how much it’ll be yeah well we see everything here we see all the points let’s see that turnaround jumper is nice he is so like I know 6 foot 165 like I said he’s small he is not six foot there’s no way this guy is not six feet tall he is so small he definitely has to put on some muscle if he wants to play in the league like maybe he doesn’t end up with the Celtics just because Celtics are so deep they have a lot of guards that they’re invested in so it’s tough to see him carving out a roster spot with the big team could end up in Maine but he could probably play on a team like Washington or one of those teams that just tanking and try and get some real experience out there but his body just doesn’t seem like it’s ready just yet I haven’t seen him recently did you see him at the facility yesterday Jack no no no they clear it out before we get down there so we did not see anything but he is definitely very small so it doesn’t leave much uh I don’t know want to say hope his jumper is a little weird I mean it looks like you can tell that he’s making up for his height with his jumper just the way he shoots it like he shoots it so high above his head so he’s not have have to so he doesn’t have a tiny release Point um but yeah dude he just looks I mean if he looks this small at the college level like a little bit concerting one thing about him though is he’s not afraid to go inside we’ve seen him get in there a couple times on drives use his body a little bit to fend off some contact like right there he goes right through the guy granted it was another guard but still went right at him finished off the glass with a soft touch very com like you can see that there is a little bit of potential in there in terms of scoring yeah and per Baylor shyan he’s been one of the most competitive guys at Celtics practice so far for summer league so I guess that’s something he gets inside well it’s just I mean like that I just don’t I don’t how translate yeah he crafty finisher now I don’t think I don’t think many of these mixtapes are going to have defensive highlights but I can’t imagine him being a very good Defender at this height with this size just nasty just locks everybody up switches on to bigs he averaged 2.3 steals so that’s something but like that’s the same like Allen Iverson averaged like three steals a game I don’t think he was the best defender in the world like you can get steals without like passing Lanes yeah that he had been signed to the g-league contract and felt kind of similar like smaller guy can score at will like we saw that with the main Celtics this year with DJ Stewart who is a big part of their success uh Eastern Conference Championship success don’t worry about it but as far as house goes he’s very comfortable with the ball in his hands he’s good at making decisions he’s able to use his body despite it only being like 165 pounds or whatever He’s listed at it’s not very heavy and he goes at these big guys he’s not afraid of anybody he’s still p playing in a mid- major conference like these aren’t like teams like remember what was it Detroit Liberty that we were watching and Aruna play against like this is pretty decent competition like he played some games against guys like Tristan D Silva with Colorado with also Jaylen Williams brother on that team like they had to play against Real competition they won this conference in the tournament and he was a big part of that he was the team’s leading scorer so he’s somebody that you can get excited for in Maine but I I don’t think he’s going to find himself playing for the Boston Celtics this year probably not um he fights he’s fighting better than I thought he would on defense I mean he is getting after it I’m actually more impressed with I thought shorter guys have to be Scrappy like they have to have that kind of aggression built into them otherwise they wouldn’t be where they’re at doesn’t it I’m I’m I was going into this like I was looking at the stats I was looking at the efficiency I was looking at the height and everything and I was fully prepared to put him like d tier like on our tier list but I’ve been like this game in particular I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the way he’s played he’s a de player like yeah that that bronny versus Jaylen house match up in Vegas is gonna be something watch out I don’t think he’s gonna play as much in Vegas unfortunately play a little bit you say that but sometimes they don’t it’s not a guarantee and won remember when we were excited for Vincent Valeria bowon last year say he’s defin was a dog that he was a good player couldn’t F still don’t know why he getting in those games yeah well is he on a summer league team this year uh I don’t know look at this little defensive highlight for you jack he’s he’s locking up a little bit he’s doing something staying in front using his body look at that drive quick decision on the pass this is a good mixtape because it shows like even when he assist the Lakers yeah I mean I think we knew that last year he signed with their gie team last year oh that’s right I do remember that and I was devastated what’ you say sorry my headphones cut out I said I do remember when we found that out I was devastated but says a little bit like sticking around they didn’t get rid of him yeah he played in the G League his past year and he was not very efficient so it’s all right it’s what it’s for development uh we can watch his G League Camp highlights as well going up against some other potential NBA guys he is quick I mean that is the one advantage of being absolutely tiny is you fastest crazy finish what do you think just off the top of your head like ceiling ceiling he P Richard no like BTR or TJ McConnell kind of okay he does have a lot of that getting in the lane like that’s a TJ McConnell shot right there yeah also I don’t think he’ll have I think he’ll be a slightly better shooter than T.J McConnell and a more willing shooter I also don’t think he’ll be as defensively sound but I think he’ll try to Shard I I like it I I’m more impressed with Jaylen house than I thought I would be going in that’s a crazy move I do think he could fall unfortunately into the category of small guard who just never gets the chances that he might deserve they got to make like a league for small guards where they can still compete cuz it’s not fair it’s tough go back to these I’m I’ve been far more impressed with Jaylen house than I thought I would be yeah me too I mean I I knew a little bit going into it that he was a pretty solid player having watched a few of the mount West games when they were obviously going to the tournament Championship so I had like a little bit of inkling that he was decent I didn’t feel like this was a Edie house is kind of connected to the Celtics and they signed him he dunk no way right okay he he probably can but yeah I was going to say if I can borderline dunk anybody that’s in the league can dunk they just can’t do it from like far enough away where they won’t get blocked yeah I don’t know man what are you thinking so far what are your initial thoughts well I think he’s a fun player to watch I think he can score he has a really I don’t I don’t know how to define tight handle but he has very creative dribble moves that get him to the basket he’s very comfortable with the basketball like we talked about I think he has potential to be a really fun summer league G League guy mhm with my question with the group of guards like it’s tough to imagine him getting a ton of minutes like you mentioned like no guarantee he actually plays but if he does feels like we’re all in for a show is this tier list most excited to watch or is it most like I like them to get a two-way or a something contract with the Celtics what are we doing we should probably do the this the ladder okay um I like him more than Ron Harper okay I like I I was more impressed with Jaylen house than I thought I think the defense wasn’t as bad as I thought obviously there’s going to be plays where he gets bullied but he was fighting hard I like the intensity he played with um I think he I think Ron Harper’s a little slow I think Jaylen house probably is a better jump shot I think Ron Harper is a better playmaker but I don’t know I I just liked what I saw from Jaylen house in those highlights more than what I saw from Ron Harper and his and that could be level of competition Ron Harper’s playing in the G League jayen house is playing in college still but um I like it better I’m I’m I’m a fan I’m not going to fight you on it I feel he’s probably on that same level because you have to remember like Ron Harper has like a bigger body I don’t know I guess if you’re trying to build out the main Celtics like I can kind of see it but I don’t think he’s gonna get a two-way I just like the energy he’s playing with more than I like what I saw from Ron Harper overall I like the shiftiness I like the fight on defense I liked the shot when it was there I just like the energy played with and so I I I’m a bigger fan of dylen house than Ron Harper okay good argument thank you I don’t disagree I thought he did play like with very like Bulldog mentality on defense kept talking about it like he looks very comfortable dribbling the ball he’s comfortable making plays for his teammates he gets inside and makes the right kickout like the efficiency wasn’t quite there in college like the stats don’t lie we watched some good games but I’m sure there were some that left you scratching your head and uh that’s a lower level of competition than anything he’s gonna see going forward so we’ll have to see when he gets there how he performs like Vegas is GNA be a big test for him and as well as all the other guys trying to earn a contract like that’s just how it is yeah I’m excited uh let us know what you guys think of Jaylen house like I said I’m a fan I liked I liked what I saw from him I think Tristan enaruna is more likely to get a contract in Celtics but I enjoyed watching Jaylen house play more than I liked enjoyed watching Tristan andera play so far I don’t know I I I maybe it’s just because of the shock Factor because what I was expecting to see versus what I actually saw and so maybe that’s a part of it but I’m I’m a fan of jayen house more so than I thought I would be so there’s that let us know what you think leave a like subscribe uh keep
