Indiana Pacers guard Andrew Nembhard on making Canadian Olympic Team
Andrew I think there’s eight guys on this team who grew up in Ontario um do you have a favorite Oba moment or moment playing against one of these guys growing up favorite Oba moment is beating Shay and or like no Adam or something like that all the time up yeah the uh how does it feel I mean how does it feel to be an Olympian or name to an Olympic team roster it’s crazy it’s it’s a real moment for sure um something I thought I could do but it’s uh it’s nice to be able to say it now for sure I mean you’ve been now it’s I don’t know what day it is but it’s it’s kind of been a few weeks now and and how are you feeling about what you can bring to this team I’m feeling good about what I can do I think I can come off the bench and make an impact on both sides of the floor and uh do whatever the team needs me to do you verse time on both sides of the ball Andrew how much are you trying to build off of what you had already established over the last couple of months through the playoffs yeah I’m just trying to keep getting better you know and these reps are only going to grow my game so uh just want to keep getting better what does Kelly’s leadership meant to the group um obviously you and him have have the Gonzaga tie together but what does he mean with his experience and maturity yeah um means a lot he’s someone who I think everybody’s played with growing up and when they were young he was kind of like the guy that people um grafts to he’s always someone who’s reaching out to get guys to come in the summer so um he means a lot to have him there and he’s a he’s a leader for the group last question how are you approaching the game tonight is it just another game or are you guys trying to look at it as an opportunity to make a M uh fortunately the game to win be competitive see where we’re at and um learn from our mistakes and get better
Andrew Nembhard was officially one of 12 players named to the Canadian National Team that will head to Paris soon for the Olympics.
One year ago, he played in summer league and devoted himself to getting better. Then he grew his game, started for the Pacers on a run to the Eastern Conference Finals. And now it’s a dream come true. And he has a lot more growth to make still.
