I hate the Atlanta hawks so much, Tonny ressler’s tax ducking mandates have cost this team so many assets

Good for Saddiq. Expectations will be much lower in Washington. Probably not an issue for them that he’ll be out for a while.

Bey is from DC, that and his injury prob led to him signing for less. I assumed we never really wanted him back

Hmmm Hawks could have used his shooting which with him going back to his real role as 7th man would probably have normalized to the year before … anyway … his hustle and effort on the floor was unreal irrespective of how he was playing …. And improved his defense quite a bit. all the best to bey!

  5. I like Bey and I think he’s better than he looked last year. I’m glad he got a deal, and I’m very okay with it being with another team.

As underwhelming as he was, he was not 6.5m a year shit so would’ve been cool to match this if he was looking like he’d be back by mid season but whatever. Wish him the best and enjoyed having him in ATL.

He was really compensating for Dre being allergic to rebounding so we’ll def miss that.

Good. We’re fully moving on from surrounding Trae with traffic cones

A lot of people in this thread are missing the fact that once you’re over the cap, you can only build cap room by extending players with Bird rights. Letting Bey walk is fine from a personnel standpoint. He isn’t the best player on a $20 mil/year contract, but now the Hawks have $20 mil less leeway in trade negotiations essentially, and our maximum team payroll is $20 mil less (which I guess doesn’t matter if the Resslers refuse to go over luxury). Bey is not worth the contract, but letting him walk harms the team building process in more ways than one.

It’s not black and white. Sometimes it still helps to extend mediocre players when you’re a team who already has a franchise cornerstone like Trae.

Congrats to saddiq still getting a semi long term contract after his injury and being able to return home , this season was a huge letdown for him but he’s one of the coolest guys ever .. genuinely hope he bounces back

  10. 🫡. his lows were fucking low but he was all-grit and it was fun to watch. he started to turn his shitty season around before his injury and i’m happy he’s getting a chance somewhere else

Feel for him. Could’ve gotten a lot more if he stayed healthy

Considering how much we gave up to get him i think we should’ve signed him and traded him later if we didn’t think he fit the future

Brad Rowland made a good point a few months ago saying if the hawks were going to fight the ship they’d have to “lose” on a some transactions. For example, not getting back all you lost in the Murray trade, letting Bey walk, probably having to dump Capela eventually or let him walk next summer.

Paying for the sins of the past is just something you have to do to right the ship. I don’t think Saddiq was one of those sins but it’s clear he will never have the foot speed to contribute anything more than 18-20 minutes a night on a team that’s competing. There’s value in that, especially at 6.5 mill a year. But not worth going into the tax for, considering he won’t play much if at all next year.

Coming from the Wizards sub…did he defend at all?

Seems like probably not. Was that more an effort thing or limited athleticism ?

  13. Good for him sucks he got an ACL tear or his market would have been MUCH MUCH larger but that’s the way the cookie crumbles. Dude left it all out on the floor every night and despite his defensive shortcomings at the very least tried his best. His rebounding and interior presence will be missed and noticeable next year in a way I don’t think many of you realize but hopefully better shooting and defense on the floor will help make up for that loss. I wish him nothing but the best and appreciate his time here, good luck in DC

  14. It probably is two years and a player option. This is a good move for Bey, there is no pressure to come back quick this season and if he has a good season in 25-26, he can get paid again.

best of luck to him and wishing him the best i’ll always appreciate his efforts

Damn gonna miss Diq, he played hard every night. Losing him and AJ, could hurt us, if we don’t add another forward, Preferably a 3 and D. Idk know whose left in the free agent market, but our depth at the foward spot is looking thin. Mainly at the 4. Nance plays better at 5, and Idk where Mo fits in.

Still can’t believe we gave up 5 second round picks for this dude.

I’ll go ahead and say it… I’m slightly bummed Saddiq is leaving. I enjoyed him during his tenure in ATL!

  19. HuerterHuerter

well now we know who traded all those 2nds for him. (schlenk is in the washington braintrust now for those that don’t know who i meant).

  20. dangheckinpupperino

OT but apparently Marques Bolden can shoot 3s now, former 5 star Duke center who went undrafted a few years back

I’d like him as a 3rd center with some size if we don’t keep Bruno

  21. Julio_Freeman

I can imagine next season will be rough if not a total wash. I liked Bey, but we need all hands on deck.

  22. AdLeast8639

Glad to see our 5 2nd rounders went to good use.

  23. ViperStrikes123

Happy that he got paid. Didn’t think he would with his acl injury. That’s for the grit and hustle
