Why Devin Booker Started Over Anthony Edwards for Team USA

Why Devin Booker Started Over Anthony Edwards for Team USA

I don’t know what the hell that was but welcome to the PHX Suns baseball show apparently uh here in beautiful Las Vegas here at the Fantastic Circa Resort in Casino uh Shane and I are a little delirious apparently because we’ve been here for like four days and Gerald is now joining us to uh join in all the fun Gerald welcome to Vegas thank you glad to be here it’s uh it’s you had a fun night last night I did but I wanted to start off the show first because we’re in Vegas yeah and uh you didn’t come out with us last night so we need to we need to we need to kind of Pop the virtual let’s go you know Vegas Cherry if you will and I said we were gonna do this uh and uh yeah so we’re going to do this we’re going to break open the heny and Coke let’s go we’re just going to start it out but as we do this uh you know why don’t you give me your initial observations on what Team USA did last night yeah absolutely U first of all thank you for this because I’m very excited I have been in Vegas for almost 24 hours and have not had an alcoholic beverage so we’re starting this finally um but yeah no the Team USA scrimmage was or exhibition was really cool it was such a neat environment um I know you had like been trying to go as well and the ticket prices were insane um but it was packed in there like there were so many recognizable people in the crowd like obviously Obama was the big one but you know Carmelo Anthony Dwayne Wade um Jerry Colangelo Coach K coach Calipari like all of the basketball royalty and past Team USA greats like Shawn Maran was there there were so many big names and recognizable people it was a really cool environment to witness especially because you know our guy Deon Booker was in yeah that starting lineup for Team USA on a loaded roster with Steph Curry and LeBron James and just like being Courtside and watching you know Steph Curry and Devon Booker go through the same shooting drills together and warm-ups was like it was a really cool experience to just see that like we know that he’s on that level we know that he’s on that stage in terms of being one of the guys for this team but just to see it like it’s a casual thing it it wasn’t a casual thing it was really cool yeah I thought the cool part was is just Dev Booker just looked like he was so much more comfortable out there than he was in his first in in the Olympic team um he just looked like he was he’s should always be there you know what I mean it was just a seamless kind of flow with the team it felt like they were uh listen they know what he’s all about they know what he brings to the table and you know his performance last night I thought was he had a very good performance he was very solid all the way across the board um did some things on the defensive end on the offensive end you know obviously the the big the big three in the corner I felt like was kind of that run Ender uh that I thought kind of propelled the US team after that first quarter and they never looked back after that yeah and and I wrote about this over at cex.com if anyone’s interested because I know going into the game as soon as the starters were announced there was like this backlash like why is Devin Booker starting over Anthony Edwards why is he starting over Jason Tatum and to a certain degree I get it because if most people in the NBA pecking order like Tatum just won a title ant just swept books team out of the playoffs so I get why in their minds in the pecking order like books should be lower but FBA is different FBA is not NBA like this Olympic team is different and you need somebody who’s going to come in and do the Dirty Work who’s going to play defense who’s going to be okay with playing off the ball and being more of a rooll guy and being a star in that role uh and I think we saw that too because I I know the starters got off to a slow start but then when the bench checks in you get to unleash Anthony Edwards and Jason Tatum and let them create as many shots as they want uh I feel like if you put that in the starting lineup especially when KD comes back it might be like too much of the same thing yeah I think the the the great transition that the US team has made um over over the last you know two decades if you will uh is just the fact that they didn’t re they’re not relying just on star power um they’ve actually built a system and built um you know that kind of these checkpoints as you go along to make sure that um Team chemistry is where it is guys that are are going to be on the team are invested and want to be on the team um because for a little while there it was just kind of not an afterthought it wasn’t like the All-Star level kind of like I don’t really want to do it um but the best of the best weren’t necessarily join in the team either because they had other priorities and then you know you see that we don’t win win a gold medal one time and everything changes back to okay we need to take this more seriously because it’s disrespectful uh to to not be first in basketball in the world like it just it is so yeah uh so I like the way that they kind of go about this and it’s not necessarily always about the best players going to be in the it’s not going to be the best five right it’s going to be the best fitting five um and then there’s going to be strategy to it and so you know I think when you’re talking about who’s starting that that could be overblown for sure it can and and I think that’s important that was one of my big takeaways is like book said it after the game like the rest of the world is is catching up they’ve caught up it can’t just be throwing Talent at the situation and expecting to win like we did in the past it’s about who’s going to fit with Steph Curry LeBron James KD when he’s back Joel embiid who had a really rough game um and I think there’s a case for like a Drew holiday there’s a case for Deon Booker I think Steve KR said earlier in the week he’s going to try different lineups and see what works so don’t be surprised if book is is out of the starting lineup in the next exhibition game or whatever just to see what works but um it it was cool to hear him talk about the experience because last time at the Olympics he W he went straight from the finals like he was thrown right into it a week off yeah no no exhibition matchups for him none of this feeling out or chemistry building process um and he actually spoke to us about the chemistry building process after the game uh just build chemistry you I think experience is the best teachers of getting out there with each other and you know just figuring out try different lineups um just see how things work how have you enjoyed that process as far as you know getting to build that chemistry and not being just thrown right into the mix of it I mean that’s the best part you know going against these guys all the time and never getting a chance to play with them and see behind the scenes and you know just see their routines and see how they carry themselves just outside of the court it’s my favorite part of hey again like he just he’s kind of an experienced stat Statesman now you know he understands what what is all about and what the end goal is but uh before we move on to the next thing we have the drink so uh let’s go Vegas cheers let’s go to Vegas oh that is good oh love that love that for me uh also just to let you all know we are live right now uh I don’t know if anybody’s commented and asked if we are live uh we can’t see the comments right now I gotta pull up the stream so that’s what I’m going to do but we are live uh so rest assure if you’re going to make some comments we will uh we will we will we will talk about them we will see them um what what was uh you know the other thing I was going to point out was what I do love about the way they put this team together is is you do have quite a few guys that are not really out there for me they’re out there for the team right um and you saw that in some of the passes last night the unselfishness um that’s what you want to see because I do feel like this is if if the US team plays the right way I do think that they are the best in the world um um but as you said everybody’s kind of catching up so that that room for error is is shrinking so you have to you have to make sure that you were taking advantage of every opportunity you have to strategize you can’t come in here and just kind of wing it and I think those guys as they continue to learn each other um and it sounds weird to say you know because a lot of these guys have been in the league for you know five 10 years um you know LeBron’s been in for 20 for crying out loud and uh he looked good last night too he did uh all I could think of was when we were talking about LeBron coming to the Suns how many people were like no like how can you watch this guy last night and say you wouldn’t want him on the Suns craz wild uh but again I just think the unselfishness of this team is What’s Really Gonna maximize their potential yeah and I I think that speaks to why book would be such a good fit with the starting five is because he’s willing to embrace that lesser role um and not that this is a bad like this is not slander towards ant or Jason Tatum but we saw last time in the Olympics Tatum kind of struggled to go from being the guy to being a guy on a team full of the guy uh and you know we’ve heard all the stuff ant’s been saying about like they need to fit around me for Team USA like I love his Alpha Dog mentality I’m not trying to skew this as a negative but on this team he can be that guy coming off the bench because the second unit needs that guy in the first unit you need someone like book only had two assists but he should have had four because he had a a lob to Anthony Davis for an alleo that Davis just botched it and he had another where he was cutting through the lane it got to him and he kicked it right back out to curry in the corner for three and Curry blew a wide open three which we know he’s not going to do very often so like I I feel like book is the perfect kind of glue guy for this team um and this is a team that has unbelievable Talent like top to bottom you can make a case for a lot of guys getting that fifth or fourth starting spot um but all of that Talent has also drawn comparisons to the dream team which I know I know how you feel about it but uh Devon Booker also addressed those comparisons the talent on this roster is already being compared to the Dream Team what does that feel like to hear uh I wouldn’t do all that you know they they laid the foundation we have a lot of respect for those guys they paved the way for us and you know we just want to keep it going I love Deon tell him book don’t let him talk crazy man like this ain’t this ain’t the second coming of the Dream Team it isn’t like they’re a good good team don’t get me wrong but we’re talking about like we’re talking about a group of individuals that we may never see on the court again in terms of the status of where they were all at at the at one particular time and how Elite they all were and how they were able to just really gel together and it looked like they had been together for for years yeah you know what I’m saying and so I’m glad that Devon Booker kind of shut that [ __ ] down because that’s just ridiculous you know go even going back to the whole ant and 89 Jordan thing and all this other stuff it’s like we need to stop with the compar to like greatness when people are still in the beginning stages of what they’re trying to do playerwise and as a team we don’t we don’t have to do this we don’t have to compare them to the great let them finish their run right and then go back and evaluate and say okay was this one of the best teams of all time or compare them whatever but it’s a little premature in game number one against Canada to sit there and be like oh are they like the 92 Dream Team no no they’re not those dudes beat go about like 89,000 points in game number one and it wasn’t even close so let’s chill yeah and and I think Tyrese halberton actually touched on this after the game as well like even the the young kid understands he was like a lot of those guys on the Dream Team were already established they had already accomplished so much and like the top half of our roster yeah the Steph Curry’s The KDs the LeBron’s they’ve they’re at that level but a lot of the rest of the roster like we’re still trying to prove ourselves and I think that speaks to like the NBA is as talented as it’s ever been I’ll continue to say that but a lot of these stars are on the rise like Tyrese like ant like there are a lot of like even book to a certain degree they’re guys that still need to get to that level by winning titles or winning more gold medals or whatever it is so uh we we’re always looking to project and and like figure out what this Stacks up to compared to that and it’s like let it finish first before we go there I think the depth of the league starwise is deeper than it’s ever been yeah like I I would say that but I don’t know if the peak of like the best players are are quite uh in terms of volume are quite where where it used to be um and it’s still working though right like we were talking about Devon Booker yesterday and somebody had asked me you know what what do you think about the Suns this this year and I said well you know I think you know I think a lot of people learned a lot of things last year with this team and how you can’t really roll the ball out and just expect these guys to just be the best in the world um chemistry-wise right and and I do think that Devin Booker um being as great as he is there’s still another level that he can possibly get to um and I think when you’re talking about Elite if Devin Booker was able to find another level and get to that like top five undoubted status then the Suns immediately go to a championship Contender undoubtedly but I think the the transition here is that there was so much for him to learn last year and try to navigate and I think he learned a lot of things and so leadership is probably going to be a little bit more Paramount for him this year than anything else that all being said his elevation and his status and trying to reach that Kobe that Mike status um is is going to be Paramount in the success of the team moving forward and as you’re watching this team and the Stars across the league kind of evolved that’s what you got to look for is like can they reach the peak and be like absolutely dominant like they’re unguardable and we’ve seen Devon Booker have flashed of the of those over the years um as the as the league continues to evolve I want see who’s going to really stand up and stand out more than others and I think ant definitely has the DNA to do that yeah now he definitely does and ant’s game I think again is more tailored to that like get in there Off the Bench and just go to work on opposing back courts because nobody’s second unit is going to be able to stop you most first units are going to have a problem with that I think book his what we’re going to watch from him in the Olympics is just like fundamentally good role player stuff yes and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that I think that could help boost his star because it’s one thing to be the guy like one a or one B here in Phoenix it’s another thing to be on a team full of those guys and still contribute to winning basketball book we’ve we’ve we’ve all heard him talk and we all know and there’s some things that people have tried to drag Devon Booker about that we kind of know like the real story behind why he said certain things right um my guy is always playing chess never playing checkers him becoming the ultimate role player on this team is just another recruiting pitch for all the other players like Hey listen man hey I can defer just come play with us in the valley and we’ll be good to go like he knows what he’s doing out there um one player that I’m pretty certain he doesn’t want to play with yeah Dylan Brooks oh my God Gerald you want to take this one yeah I it’s one of those moments where like you see it happen in real time and I was recording on my phone when it happened and I had to like did a double take of what I saw in the video cuz I was like did that really just happen but for those who have not seen it this kind of blew up a little bit but Dylan Brooks cutting off Devin Booker in the middle of an interview was incredible we know Abu Dhabi these games are important for our development and figuring out the chemistry and trying different trying different lineups and seeing how things work that pause it’s incredible I just my gosh so okay for context for anyone who didn’t get it from the Tweet or hadn’t seen it yet um they had it set up kind of like a Runway type deal with the backgrounds where you Team USA players would come and talk to the media there were like probably 40 or 50 of us all lined up there on the other side of that rope or whatever um and so we’re in this big room in the tunnels underbelly of T-Mobile Arena Dylan Brooks could have easily gone from the court around that whole setup because there’s just a big crowd of people there’s athletes doing interviews he walked right down the [ __ ] Runway where all the players were it was very intentional if you like go through it it’s hilarious because you can see the progression of Devin Booker’s reaction to like wait is this guy really doing this book and Brook’s just like cutting across and then Booker having to like pause and be like is this dude for real like is he really doing this it’s so funny watching the frame by frame progression of it it’s so ridiculous I like you know that had that Meme of uh uh dang it with Ben Affleck where he’s just outside smoking he just like that’s exactly what Devon boger’s face reminded me up immediately when I saw it I was like oh man my guy is so fed up with Dylan Brooks it’s not even funny oh Dylan Brooks man he’s just uh he’s the gift that keeps on giving in the worst possible ways uh so listen uh we we do have a little bit of breaking news on multiple fronts right now so uh we’ll go ahead and talk about two things first uh let’s let’s go ahead and go with Kyle Lowry resigning with the Philadelphia 76ers which takes them obviously off of the Suns radar there had been talks that the suns were still interested in in gaining the services of Kyle Lowry but that is now dead in the water and then gambo apparently reporting right now as well that the Suns will sign Josh aogi um so that is also breaking news uh thank you to everybody in the chat also for sharing all that information we appreciate you all uh so yeah I mean listen let’s talk about they didn’t really need Kyle Lowry uh since they had already you know obviously gotten Monte Morris but it would have been nice to have another backup point guard that just you know has that veteran experience that Championship experience um I’m I’m gonna I’m gonna miss the fact that big booty Judy isn’t gonna play for us I know I uh well we had reported this I think last week or earlier in the week that like Josh aogi they’re still definitely planning to resign him they have competition from other teams so that’s you know that’s not really breaking the fact that Lowry is going to Philadelphia that’s also kind of what we reported would probably happen the suns were still in communication with him but it felt like too good of a deal to pass up to stay with his hometown Sixers um so this is basically just confirming what we already kind of knew was going to happen um but yeah I I don’t I didn’t really feel the need for all Lowry I understand why you would like to have him if something happens to him or Monte Morris but I do kind of Wonder like was a starting job kind of the reason why he leaned Philly over Phoenix cuz the Sixers I don’t think they have a starting point guard um the Suns I don’t think they would make him the starting point guard no and I think at this point in his career he would be bet he’s 38 I don’t know if you want to be starting him on this team that’s already under size so I wonder if that was a point of contention as well yeah I mean there’s a lot of different factors I listen he’s a decent he’s a decent point guard again the experience weighs heavily and but I don’t I would agree with you the what’s what’s the number one thing that Eddie Johnson said they need a point guard for to push the ball Kyle Lowry is not that dude right he’s not a he’s not a ball Pusher he’s not going to be able to get you you know down the court in five seconds or less He’s Just Not That Guy anymore so you know not getting him is not the biggest deal in the world also yes I I I believe this Max is out their roster if they get a kogi uh right it would it would be the 15th spot but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t another move or two that can be made to free up a roster spot down the road um you’re looking at a guy like you know obviously David Rody um possibly you know being traded or or waved or anything like that which I doubt they would wave them just because of the salary ramifications on that um but then you never know what kind of Trades Could Happen still before the season starts um so there’s still plenty of opportunity for the Suns to improve uh whether that happens or not is is you know it’s obviously we we don’t know yeah and we have reported a source did tell me that like if they find someone that they want in free agency you know waving Rody or even ner little is not off the table like it could very well happen and I think this is a big summer league for Rody we’ll talk about him a little bit later but uh this is a good chance for him to prove himself because there are still some decent free agents on the board it sounded like they were only looking at point guards but I do feel like they’re still they they still have need on the wing they could use a shooting wing of some sort uh and if they find one that they like like Rody you could trade us your little into to space or something like that um I don’t think any of those options are off the table and knowing ishbia he would not be afraid to pay I think Rody makes a lot more sense to cut financially than nasier for sure uh you know you had mentioned summer league uh you know being important for guys uh to kind of prove their worth like David rate let’s talk about the summer league you know we have obviously a a group of individuals that uh oh by the way we are at free today so yeah congratulations we did it um yeah so listen I think everybody’s gonna be looking at Ryan Dunn everybody’s gonna want to evaluate him see what he’s really all about you know how can he transition into the NBA and more importantly is this offense not gonna suck I think that’s the biggest thing that everybody’s you know really intrigued about they want to see they want to see that yeah so you know obviously you had some time to go out to practice talk to these guys uh what you got yeah so I I I always love to ask this question and it’s a very basic question but I feel like you get a lot of different answers when ask guys like what are you what’s your approach to Summer League what are you looking to prove um and this is what Ryan Dunn had to say know just just going on just you know just playing as hard as I can competing um offensively you know just being the same person I from college um guarding the best players in defending and you know offensively just taking the shots I need to take um being able to do a lot lot more um but you know the biggest thing is just compe our can do without can play hard so for him it’s kind of his emmo just anytime he takes the court really it’s like the compete as hard as you can thing it’s a tired old cliche but he is is the guy that is constantly diving on the floor for loose balls he is the guy that defensively we need him to play as hard as he can if he’s going to carve out a roll for himself um and I always love asking that question because some guys like they answer honestly they’re like I’m looking to prove that I can do this that I can do this specific thing that all the draft experts said that I can’t do um but it it’s it’s good to know that he is kind of aware of the limitations on his game and he’s approaching it the right way like not trying to go out and do too much yeah no I I agree I think if he takes the same approach that tumani did last year where he just kind of you know he didn’t force anything you just let the game come to him played solid like tumani was so solid last year in summer league and I think he impressed all of us and surprised a lot of us um and you know I know we were all looking forward to seeing him in the sun’s uniform if Ryan Dunn kind of takes that same approach listen I I have no doubt that this guy’s going to play with a lot of energy a lot of physicality because that’s what they do at Virginia um defensive you know his defensive you know prowess is going to be on full display it’s the offense that’s going to be interesting to see how is he G to be able to fit and I think for Suns fans they want to be able to see things that they can immediately identify in terms of fit with Kevin Durant Devin Booker so on so forth right like is he gonna be a slasher because they would they could definitely use a slasher to the bucket somebody that’s going to be physical at The Rim um that’s going to attack that you know could maybe put even you know put a body down you know what I’m saying those kind of things right um but more but the other part of that is obviously the perimeter shooting like is he going to be able to hit to the open three he’s gonna have plenty of opportunities here in summer league to be able to prove himself uh so I know everybody’s excited to see that yeah no and I I think that’s you pointed to a couple of different things that I’m looking for like a defensively I want to see the playmaking I want to see that because you never want to see a guy go out in summer league and do a bunch of things that like next to Kevin Durant Devon Booker and Bradley Beal they’re just never going to be doing like I want to see him doing things that I’m like okay yeah I can see that with the big three I can see that with the Suns in his specific role for this team um and defensively is the one thing that b that stands out obviously off the top um coach Vince larza who is Mike bu holder’s assistant actually spoke a little bit about what he’s the summer league head coach yeah he’s the summer league head coach uh he spoke a little bit about what he’s seen from dun’s defense so far super unique Defender you know obviously things that we saw on filming College his ability to defend around the rim as kind of a wing I mean there is parts of practice where he’s picked up the point guards and navigated screens there’s been times where he’s been you know like a big coming over to block shots uh but his ability just to kind of keep on going but his his uh Rim defense is something that has really impressed me so far if you didn’t know uh Pat McAfee is now the head coach of the summer league Suns man that guy looks just like Pat MCA that’s crazy he’s really tall too is he really yeah I had to I had my stand set up to like record that whole thing and I had to raise it like immediately CU I was like oh [ __ ] you’re not in the frame oh no he was just sitting down and he wasn’t in the frame he’s super tall um but no I I think the fact that he pointed to the shot blocking thing like obviously done I think he averaged like 2.3 blocks per game in college which is stupid for a 68 Wingra um but that ability to defend the rim to be a weak side shot blocker I think that’s why a lot of people are excited about the small ball possibilities because if you have a guy like that out there that’s able to protect the rim in that capacity like that’s a awesome thing to have yeah absolutely uh you know I know there’s other aspects of of uh you know of of what Dunn is going to try to do um I know there’s additional things defensively that you talked to Dunn about what was one of those things yeah so he was I love this question as well uh someone asked him which Defenders he kind of modeled his game after and he he didn’t really model his game after everyone but here was what he had to say about what film he kind of watches guys up um I watch a lot of guys like herb Jones o mby um guys that fit my resemblance um a little bit of like J McDaniels guys that are long athletic and then offensively what sort of steps would you like to take especially here in the summer you know obviously you know getting reps with like shooting threes and get putting on the ball on the floor um being able to run out in transition and show what I can do there um and just getting reps you know just making plays off the good one you know making the right plays and just learning from mistakes over time in s league so before we touch on the offense the defense hearing herb Jones o noi and Jaden McDaniels agitators all of them man that’s music to my ears those are the exact like couple of guys I would have loved to hear him say too the minute he got drafted I thought about jayen McDaniels in Minnesota and how much Havoc he kind of caused for the Suns and making you know from time to time um players feel uncomfortable out there and I and that’s what I’m really hoping Ryan dun’s going to be able to do uh for the Suns this year obviously um we do have a super chat boy okay be calm see clearly I like you uh Ryan Dunn don’t got no cake uh but I’ll take it down this come on what are we doing here huh it’s a rookie bro come on man like just you know he just got here let my man live a little bit on on the summer league courts before you you know show some wild [ __ ] on our chat so that’s czy but we do appreciate the Super Chat we appreciate all contributions of any kind uh sometimes it’s a little little crazy but uh yeah no listen I I love the fact that he’s he’s trying to mirror his game after those kind of guys and watching and evaluate um it’s important to see how the technique of others and the things that you can pick up skill-wise that you know that’s what the elites always talk about in the NBA and in really any sport is it’s not about can you do you know a through X it’s can you find the smaller details that will give you that just that little bit of an advantage um because that’s what it’s all about in the NBA so can you find the Y can you find the Z to to separate yourself from everybody else and if he can pick up little cues like that from other players and how to attack um you know the the offensive players as best you can in the NBA it’s gonna Advance them faster than we think yeah absolutely and it’s it’s kind of cool I’ll be writing a little bit more in depth about Ryan Dunn’s game through the summer league process um but I was able to speak with Virginia’s coach Tony Bennett um and it was funny he was talking about how like I feel like with Dunn obviously everyone looks at the offensive reps in terms of now that he’s a pro he’s gonna be doing that a lot more his shots going to come down but defensively like we used to joke with him like you’re guarding everybody’s guy on the court except for your own like he was that talented in terms of being able to guard other guys so those tips and tricks like you’re talking about learning from other guys film that’s only going to make him even better as an on ball Defender where that’s like you are our lock down guy that is your job um so looking forward to seeing that but that’s not what everybody wants to see Gerald that’s not what is what does everybody want to see they want to see that three ball let’s go let see the three ball um here is what actually Jaylen Bridges had to say about what he’s seen he was asked you know who has stood out in practice at summer league so far and he said nobody but he did offer this little tidbit up anyone kind of stick out to you in practice so far teammate play um not necessarily but a lot of lot of people had questions about Ryan shooting and I I feel like he answered those questions really well knocking him down you knocking him down yeah knock down I mean Hey listen man there’s there’s guys that are Hey listen there’s good practice players and then there’s good game players I don’t give a [ __ ] about practice I want to see what it looks like on the court so as long as he can do it on the court I’m hey I’m I’m all here for it and so hopefully um hopefully the Virginia stuff was just a mirage BAS based on you know kind of the the set the requirements of that program how they run it and you know the methodical Nature by which they like to play 1929 basketball so um hopefully it you know him shifting to the NBA is going to speed up his processes and be make him a little bit more efficient from the perimeter because obviously those stats were not great coming out I that’s that’s my hope and again at the end of the day you know you’re going to be able to rest your head on his defense now if he if the other side comes along then you’re talking about a player that’s not just really really good on defense now you’re talking about a really really good player overall right and that becomes a problem for the rest of the league yeah you’re talking about a potential steal of the first round if he is able to hit the three ball even at like a League average rate that’s that’s all that you need him to do and so I I know that like for me the list goes I want to see the defensive playmaking and the shot blocking and all that kind of stuff uh because Tony Bennett did say out of all the Defenders that he’s had in terms of the big playability no one defensively compares to Ryan Dunn so I’m excited to see that the three balls obviously next on the list but like we said earlier I don’t want him taking a bunch of shots you know off the dribble or trying to prove anything just if you get an open Catch and shoot three knock it down that’s what I’m looking forward to seeing um and he did also to your point about like the cutting and the slashing and all that stuff he did I did ask him about that and he had been talking about like that he feels like that’s important to his game um and is because when I talked with step pidgen on our last take that for data when we think about spacing we typically just resort to shooting yeah but there’s lots of different types of spacing and as a 68 guy with the size and athleticism that he has when he cuts a defense has to react and so that’s a different way that he can provide spacing and he did uh have experience with screening and and rolling at Virginia as well so I’m looking forward to seeing that I I love that you brought that up because when you’re talking about spacing most people think about spacing on the perimeter they don’t think about the fact that you can have adequate space on the interior as well and create action that’s going to draw and create more spaces available on the perimeter as well yeah and that’s what you know that’s what that’s what the point is right is like you got to create advantages of a variety of different levels and when you’re able to you know kind of mix match your offense with guys that can cut that can be athletic at The Rim that are you know not slow then obviously it’s going to free up other things for other players you’re hoping some of those other players are going to be by the name of Kevin Durant Devon Booker and Bradley Beal obviously right um but you know hey Ryan dun’s gonna have plenty of opportunity to score um when he’s in the these games because people are going to be ke up on the other three so yeah hopefully that that does happen one thing that I am just not the fan of I’m just not a fan of I maybe it’s because I’ve I’ve had this inherent like yeah I I like listen man I love the twins they were cool they were cool when they played for my team but they don’t play for my team anymore and y’all got to let [ __ ] go because it’s over it’s over okay it’s over so so you’re not going to be a fan of this next clip that we have geared up or are you ready to embrace a new set of twins in your life you know like are you ready to accept the twins into your heart most sequels suck oh no Am I Wrong some but some are like goated because they actually okay you know Rose above the sequel well I know I know I know some of you are a little confused so let’s clear up some of this uh misconception here so how do you feel about call us twin and you know pushing that agenda um I like it you know I think we kind of look alike you know sing the draft um I think me and you we had little times so we saw each other you know through the process even at um New York you know the best state in country in Arizona sorry it’s hot but uh you know I want the mic back please but you know um you know I like I like T you know I think me and even Jaylen you know we’re all twins The Big Three um the big Trio the squad Trio so I’m excited tripl I like that all right you’re done all right T okay so now we got twins here we’re so back oh my gosh we’re so back oh my gosh would it would it surprise you if anybody told you that those two were related to campaign no they look they look they have similar traits you know they all got the big head you know variations of campaign uh I I hm listen I I if I have to deal with it I have to deal with it but you know I just come on why don’t you like Good Vibes it’s not that you know it’s not that it’s not about the Vibes is it just because you’re sick of the male and cam talk or love past their time it was it was more of like like we really had people trying to sit there and say that trading Mel Bridges screwed The Vibes up and screwed the franchise up and I’m like that’s not that’s not it okay that’s not that’s not all I mean I get it I do think and this was something that da when he was still here even spoke to was it was a very different vibe in the gym after like male and cam were gone and Kevin Durant coming in it was a more serious Vibe and there’s nothing wrong with that if you are winning but I do think there was an element of levity that with Micha and cam gone and then campaign leaving after that and then da leaving after that I do think like last year we talked a lot about how the season was just unjoy enjoyable and some of it was because of the just frustrating nature of some of the games the fourth quarters the sloppy turnovers that stuff like that’s undeniable that has nothing to do with Vibes but I do think like a lot of the newcomers we never really got to know them or embrace them on the same level as the Twins and I do think there is an element of excitement over just having two rookies come in that are like new and fresh and fun and energetic like we’re going to talk about like Ryan dun blocks or dunks and how that’s going to just resonate with the crowd in a way that kind of only bub was able to really bring to the table I do think that’s an underrated element of like when you’re a season vet like a KD or a Beal or a book and you watch this rookie first year in the league you know swats a shot or comes down and dunks the ball or gets an ALU blob like there’s a there’s a different electricity to it so as much as this stuff is ultimately meaningless in our eyes like it is nice to just kind of have some good vibes we like those silly kids like I I do agree with that like I listen it was too serious and it was too stressful and it wasn’t serious in like the best way like man these this team is really intense it was serious in the uh I don’t know what we should be doing here but it isn’t good kind of vibe you know what I mean like it it just felt like it was not clueless is not the right word because that gives the connotation that this team is just stupid it wasn’t that it’s just it felt like there was just no plan and they were trying to figure it out and they didn’t have somebody that was a leader enough um really mainly on the coaching staff to be able to try and fix it and correct it enough for them to kind of get on the same page and with this group yes I hope some levity comes to the to the to the table because they could use it but levity is only good if you’re also winning if you’re laughing and joking and getting housed by 30 [ __ ] you right and that’s what everybody kind of pointed out last year you know when we lost and Bradley Beal’s going across the the aisle to go hug you know the the the other team a lot of people like did not like that because they’re like dude you just lost by like 20 or 30 plus points why are you hugging the opponent right and I see a little different situation but I do I do see your point like I think that when the suns were winning when they went to the finals like the cam and male and campaign and all that stuff was all in good fun and I think that’s why people rever it and why some people are hesitant to like jump on board with a new set of twins or whatever um so I totally get that like you have to win to be able to have fun the way that those guys did um but I do think there’s something to just having that youthful exuberance back like we haven’t had a rookie to look forward to since Jaylen Smith and we know how that turned out so like Tani kamaro was taken away from us before we got to enjoy him we got like two Summer League games so I do think there is a there’s a genuine excitement to like we have young kids that we can develop over time that are going to grow and they’re going to fail and we’re going to get to see all that unfold um and so if they’re having fun while they’re doing it like that’s that’s just easy to get on board with I guess um but going back to igodo a little bit we did I did ask him that same question about what he wants to show at summer league and I really liked his response I just want to win I want to go out there and compete um I feel like that’s why they Pig me it’s because those winning qualities that I care about and it’s not really something I’m trying to show I just want to go out there and win honestly I know me and Ryan have the same goal go out there defend be good teammates and contribute to winning I I mean yeah it’s a good answer you got to win you know you’re out there to win I I think he’s probably the the one that I’m I’m looking forward to the most watch Play Because listen he he provided some spacing when he was at the Marquette he was good on the pick and roll he’s got a little funky kind of release kind of mid-range game that I’m really curious to see how it’s going to translate at this level I want to see what his overall game is at this speed um you know and at this intensity because hey don’t get it twisted if you’ve never been to summer league in person you should definitely come out because these games are intense guys are fighting and playing for their their profession their professional lives right right and they know that this might be the one chance that they get so you know you got a lot of guys that are desperate and it’s just a unique environment and it’s fun and yeah you want to see the star players show out and and develop and and get some experience underneath them before they get the training camp but it’s also an opportunity for for the the you know the Lesser known players to to make their their own name and you know when you have a guy like this uh you know who’s drafted later uh and he has a he has the ability to really contribute on this team if he does it the right way and goes about his development the right way uh it’s he’s the most intriguing player that I’m going to be watching during the summer league for sure yeah no and and I think to your point like summer league is so fun because it’s an environment that’s different than any other in terms of like there’s no there’s very few established names like last year there was wemi and obviously that had a buzz to it but other than that like you’re you’re here CU you’re a hoop head and so if you ball out you can win over an entire crowd of people that may not have known anything about your game heading in so it’s really just like basketball at its purest even though the level of basketball is obviously not to NBA standards um but it is really fun in that way and to your point like Oso is a guy that I feel like like we’re so focused on Ryan Dunn but I feel like Oso might come in and impress as well just because like if they use him as a playmaking hub on a team where you you don’t really have time to implement sets he might be able to show you some things like oh [ __ ] okay there’s that play making or there’s that Rim running lob threat that we were looking for yeah I I hope so man I really do hope so uh before we get on to our our our next uh couple topics for summer league we do have a super chat okay from St [ __ ] that says specific guy you’d be willing to cut if little or Rody or or to cut for little or Rody um I I I know some people have said Spencer Den witty okay um which I don’t know if they would still be able to afford I know he’s still out there on the market I just don’t know if he’s really getting the minimum I think he’s worth a little bit more than the minimum I’m just so confused by the market right now because free agency has been so slow like it’s been so gradual and so I feel like we’re at the point where normally most guys would be like okay it’s vet minimum time but I genuinely don’t know because I feel like some teams still have cap space and we’re still waiting for a few dominoes to fall maybe he’s one of them maybe um for me I’m kind of looking at like shooting on the wing uh like a jetty Osman I don’t know that he’s vet minimum the fact that he’s still out there at this point maybe we’re getting closer um but yeah I do feel like and it’s nothing against David R because I am genuinely looking forward to seeing what he can do in this environment as one of the more experienced players but I feel like in terms of the context of what the Suns need unless Mike buen holer is like really in on Nasir little which I don’t know that he would be I feel like you need another rotation caliber Wing um jett’s not fantastic but he’s a capable shooter he’s a decent enough Defender I feel like that would be the guy that I would look at I think you’re looking at teams that might be fighting to get to the floor yeah and um and then once you get close to there and you see what the options are um you’re looking at a team like the Hornets for in instance you know they’re going to be fighting to get to that salary cap floor because they do have to have a minimum of salary yeah um otherwise they get punished for that too so there’s two ends of the spectrum when you’re talking about the first and second apron you’re also talking about the basement and you got to make sure you stay out of that and I think as we get closer to the season and teams realize oh [ __ ] we we need like you know maybe another 15 million y That’s when you’re going to start to see the nerkish rumor trades come back again or maybe even nasier little or David Rody and and then at that point maybe you’re looking at a trade instead of free agent um signing for vet minimum uh I like Spencer Den witty I think uh you know listen I think he’s a versatile guard he can run the point easily but he’s also a good solid you know number two uh you know or Wing shot uh maker uh he certainly proved it against us and he didn’t have to play point guard for the Mavs very much right because Luca could kind of handle that as well and I think you can find yourself in a similar situation if you do it right here in Phoenix but at the end of the day you know I I think this team is kind of set to where where they’re at I think they’re happy with where they’re at um if there’s a move to be made they’ll make it but I don’t think that they sit there and they looking like they need to make something else happened I think they kind of had their idea of how they wanted to go about the offseason and I think they’ve accomplished it for the most part yeah it wasn’t sexy there was nothing sexy about it but you just knew it wasn’t going to be and I know a lot of people are talking about oh you got to trade or cut Beal it just was never going to happen so you could just stop you’re just wasting your time you know throwing those those useless you know sentences out there because it’s just not going to happen it’s not fiscally possible and it’s not really logistically possible either nobody really wants to take on that salary um and yeah he had didn’t have the greatest year last year we all know that but that doesn’t mean that he can’t bounce back and I I certainly think that he will so yeah and no and I think anyone expecting like sexy big time moves this summer we got spoiled by the Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal trades back toback because that was never going to be it was always about keeping the core intact improving on the margins I feel like they did that they upgraded they got a backup point guard which they didn’t have last year uh because Jordan Goodwin never panned out they upgraded the backup spot going from Drew Eubanks to Mason plumbley Um nacho in the chat I love you my guy but cutting Beal doesn’t do anything because his salary would still be on the book so then you’re basically losing a talented score and your third option for 50 million that you’re going to be paying anyway so that doesn’t help you another Super Chat from Leo bantos no it doesn’t help you at all don’t forget booooy uh he’s gonna be a surprise I missed you Saul I missed you too Leo I appreciate that it’s been a while since I’ve been on the show yeah um yeah booooy listen Northwestern good guard I’m a big fan of booooy already and it’s just such a fun name to say great listen I I uh listen I I I already have the headline for anytime he does something like let’s is say uh he hit a gamewinner okay oh yeah you just got booed you got booed yeah you got booed on so uh I I love it I I he’s the other one that I’m G to be watching that I hope just shows out and finds a way to be on this roster because I really want this kid he’s a good player he’s a really good player no he is he I’ve watched some of the film on him and he looked he’s fun man he’s I think he’s gonna he’s gonna be like we’re gonna be looking at Ryan Dunn Oso a couple other guys but I think boooo is gonna come in and just be like yo I got game man don’t don’t sleep on me either and I think they gave him an exhibition 10 contract which for people that don’t aren’t familiar that’s basically like kind of a training camp you could get a opportunity to earn a two-way type deal um and they do have two-way contracts with Colin Gillespie uh and Jaylen Bridges as well for those wondering Colin Gillespie is not playing um it’s not an injury thing or anything like that I think it’s just because of I’m assuming when he joined when he signed that deal the summer league kind of roster was already pretty close to set and so it might have been too late at that point I don’t think he really needs it either I mean listen you kind of know what Colin gese is gonna bring to the table uh he’s he’s he’s a he’s a good guard he’s solid ball handler obviously when he was at Villanova he led him to a national championship but more than that like he can get after it defensively he’s he’s a solid ball handler he’s not going to turn the ball over that’s kind of at a as at its most fundamental basic Point that’s what you’re gonna get don’t expect anything like Steve Nash or anything like that coming out because if it was then he wouldn’t be here uh so I’m not too concerned that he’s not on this roster but there’s other guys on this roster that still have a lot of things that they got to prove and they got a lot of development work to do Jaylen Bridges being one of them and you asked him you know why you know why he he uh why he chose the Suns uh over other situations and this is what he had to say um just the opportunity to you know being a great City being a great organization um the the opportunity to make an impact and hopefully contribute on the NBA floor in year one so as an opportunity that’s kind of hard to pass up so that’s interesting to me because he did acknowledge like the possibility of being able to contribute in one usually on a two-way contract as opposed to being drafted in the second round I feel like that would be lower on totem poll but I I do wonder if the suns were kind of like hey man just stick it out and you will have an opportunity to earn a roster spot um because we like what you bring to the table and he is one of the more NBA ready prospects in terms of you know the size that he has and the three and D skill set uh and the summer league uh coach Vince larza actually talked a little bit about his skill set you know janen done a really good job job you know his size and his ability to move and then make shots but I’ve really enjoyed his cutting you know the way he moves off the ball I think he’s going to be you know have a really good summer for us and because I think he’s got versatility I think he can run and shoot he’s a good slasher and then again his size and his ability to compete defensively have been really good you got to love those th those comments that that’s obviously optimism on what Jaylen Bridges can bring to the table if he can carry that into summer league and then potentially onto this roster that that would be great and I know that’s what the suns are looking for and one of the things I do like that the Suns did is they did get lengthier yes um in this offseason especially via the draft uh by G by getting those two wings and then obviously osor Oso so like the plan was correct M now whether or not we’re going to see it come to fruition in this this little you know run of of games here in the next week and a half we we’ll see yeah absolutely and I do think the best thing about bridg is like obviously he brings a size he brings a three-point shooting he’ll be able to defend multiple positions hopefully if larza is correct like in terms of bringing the cutting and that element that adds something so that he’s not just you know your prototypical can shoot threes can defend and that’s kind of all that he does um but I really liked Jaylen Bridges awareness of who he is and what he brings to the table um because I asked him about his three and D skill set and I really loved what he had to say um I I know what I am I’m very self-aware um I I’m not one of the guys that is going to get paid to you know take all the shots I’m more so a guy that’s there that’s out there to make life easy on the Durants the bills the Bookers you know I’m I feel like I’m a connector piece like you said three and D but I I feel like that’s putting myself to a box I feel like I do a lot more than just shoot and play defense I you should feel that way I mean I feel like every NBA player should feel that way like you do more than just two things yeah you know ideally yeah yeah ideally yeah yeah uh and so I mean that’s a great perspective that he has I just I don’t I don’t really know if this is going to be one of those situations where um he genuinely gets the opportunity to be able to make it onto this roster and and and contribute at a high level or is this going to be this is the difficulty with now having a g-league is how many of these guys are goingon to end up on the G League versus not and you know where’s this go and what’s the flexibility there and I think Jaylen has a good chance listen I I think the bottom of this roster once you get past eight I think it’s open game as to who’s going to be on this roster I really do I think there’s tremendous opportunity for anybody to grab a spot you just got to grab the spot and you got to show that you’re G to be accountable and consistent man consistency is just the biggest thing in this league yeah no and that’s I feel like that’s one of the things that Bridges brings is in terms of like he’s good at relocating he’s a good movement shooter he’s a good spot up guy which that’s the type of like prototype that you need next to this big three you need someone who’s going to understand their role who can bring maybe a little bit more to the table but at the very least checks those boxes of three and d and that’s like that’s what you need on the wing because we’re as much as we’re talking about like free agency Wing targets or shooters that they could acquire if he balls out in summer league maybe you have that guy in house and maybe you’re looking at a situation where okay we can once we resign Josh aogi can clear out a roster spot and you can be that 15th guy we we we talked about bbow and how his development was last year and we liked his development you know I I will say I will give the pr previous coaching staff some Kudos in that regard but I will also give Kevin Durant some Kudos in that regard because he had just as much to do with bull Bull’s um desire uh to really reach a different level as anybody else because that was his Idol that was the that was his mentor that’s the guy that he’s always looked up to well Jaylen Bridges just happens to share the same affinity for one Kevin Durant I’m curious you watch any players thrown up or kind of mold your game after or anybody in particular I mean I ain’t really mow my game after him but it’s crazy like it’s a full circle moment cuz Kevin Durant’s like who I consider the greatest basketball player ever and now I’m on his team so it’s kind of it’s kind of crazy yeah life’s crazy that’s life is crazy I wish you guys could have seen Saul’s reaction to jayen Bridges saying that Kevin Durant was in his is M the greatest basketball player ever it was interesting but hey we all have our thing right we all have our opinions but it is it’s really cool to see how many guys on this roster idolize KD like obviously we know about bbow Jaylen bridge is coming in I think Ryan Dunn did an interview with the Suns recently where he was talking about watching Kevin Durant Growing Up So as much as it’s just kind of like a cool storyline that feels relevant it’s also one of those things where like if you are playing with your idol that you grew up like watching this guy play dreaming about playing with them or that type of thing you’re going to bust your ass every single day to prove in that guy’s mind that like you are legit um and to make sure you’re not letting that guy down so I I do think as much as he’s a two-way contract and we can only raise the ceiling so high for our expectations of him that’s that is a pretty cool thing to bring to the table and to have it is it is a pretty cool thing um I am a little distracted right now Gerald because I don’t know going on in this chat but they’re talking about barbecue which iMed barbecue oh well see that’s that’s going to get your attention which immediately um just distracting me but I do want to go on the record as saying sure um Nacho’s comment is uh don’t don’t take it to heart what was the comment I’m not gonna say I don’t want I don’t want to put another company on blast okay but I’ve had this barbecue and at least the stuff I’ve had multiple times does it start with an R no okay I can’t I can’t see the chat so I was they know what’s in the chat they can read the chat uh and then there’s somebody else that’s in the chat that says that they are a competition barbecue guy I can’t find the I can’t find the comment it wasn’t anyone from that barbecue place we went to out here in Vegas was it the one that Lindsay picked out sorry Lindsay that was terrible terrible uh Lindsay’s not here in Vegas she’s not probably for that reason just kidding Lizzy just kidding Lizzy she couldn’t show up again she yeah she we we we just we couldn’t do it again fine we’re we’re Shane and I are going to get some fuku Burger and then you and I are going to go to that chicken place we went to that one time remember that yeah that was so good that was great yeah uh but also I will be going to Fugu Burger as well because you guys G the last two years and I can’t miss out this year because I really want that so so excited before we do wrap up uh you know I know you talked to larza about David Rody um what was the context with that yeah so I think the question is just kind of what are the expectations for him because we all know like I reported this a while back that like they could cut Rody if they have a free agent out there that they really like because they are going to bring aogi back they would need another roster spot to sign another free agent Rody’s the he’s an expiring $2.8 million contract so he’d be the least Financial hit there um I think when we acquired him there were a lot of questions of like okay like what’s he gonna do where’s he G to play like what position is he even um so this is a big summer league for him and and this is what larza had to say about him so far David’s been great I mean his his time he’s put in here since I got here I don’t know how many weeks ago um he’s just he’s continued to work and get better um he’s been a real leader for the summer league team which is kind of unique opportunity for him and he’s he’s kind of the vet and he’s the leader and you know him just continuing to get better on defense on offense I think in summer league he’s going to get to handle he’s going to be SP he’s going to shoot he’s going to do a lot for us defensively so you know he’s had a great summer we’re looking forward to seeing him you know keep on going here in Vegas so hearing him that he’s going to handle he’s going to space he’s going to do things offensively defensively that’s interesting to me because like obviously he has the most experience on this roster from an NBA perspective but I’m kind of eager to actually see him play Because all that we’ve seen of him is mostly his time with the Grizzlies or elsewhere it wasn’t in a Sun’s Jersey so for a lot of us this is kind of gonna be our first time watching him play meaningful minutes yeah yeah yeah he’s the thing that I struggle with David rodon is uh he again I feel like he’s a tweener he’s in between positions is he uh he’s got the body size of a two and a three uh outside of like the girth because he’s a big dude right um but in theory he should be playing the three or the four right because of his size and strength and and so they’re trying to figure out the best way to find uh to play him and where to play him and I think when you’re when you’re kind of lost in the sauce right there and nobody can really like identify like okay this is where he’s going to be able to excel at you find yourself on the outside looking in more often than not and that’s the thing with David ARA is what discernable skill set can they rely on that they know they can count on him game in game out no matter what like there I my argument for for players whether or not they should come out of college to go to the NBA is always what’s one thing that an NBA team just knows they’re going to get from you no matter what at at any point in time and if you can’t answer that question then you shouldn’t be coming out and when you look at David Rody what I’m I’m gonna put you on the spot Gerald what’s one thing that you just know no matter what David Rody is going to be reliable for outside of effort it’s driving and that’s kind of it and cuz like he’s 6’4 so he has the the height of a two maybe the driving of a three and the strength of a four so he has like these different skills that are you know you love multi- positionality in this league but not if you can’t excel at multiple positions it’s more like you have bits and pieces of each one so I am eager to see what he’s able to show us because you know he’s played 118 games for the Grizzlies and those were meaningful minutes but only shot 30% from three so he’s not a floor spacing guy um I want to see what he’s able to do with the ball in his hands I’m eager to see what he can do as one of the more experienced players who should theoretically kind of look like a guy in this setting against you know less experienced guys so I’m hoping he’s able to show something but if he’s not this could be a situation where you’re looking at it like okay that was kind of your opportunity to prove something to this specific team I think he’s only 23 so he’s got a future in this league whether it’s here or elsewhere um but I do think he was kind of a weird youth play when they brought him in and so if he’s not able to show something here in Vegas it might be a situation where you’re looking at okay there’s some decent free agents that are still out there maybe he’s on the chopping block David Rody no disrespect to David Rody I think he’s a a very good player I just think that he he to me feels like in El leite European player as opposed to um you know contributor on NBA team at this point um when you’re talking about you know positional versatility you’re typically talk about guys that also have the measurables yeah you know what I mean and he does not he does not have the measurables and so he’s got to stand out in multiple different ways and so if you’re 6’4 like listen Charles Barkley was rumored to be anywhere from 6’4 to 67 but Charles Barkley was a dog and he was just is the gamer and he he knew what he could do and he took advantage of you at every little turn to do it David R’s got to find something similar to that to be able to make it in this league because I do think that if he doesn’t if he doesn’t Thrive here in summer league he’s gonna put himself way behind the eightball and he’s probably on the outside looking in at that point yeah as a third-year player you’re typically expected to kind of dominate in this setting so if he doesn’t that’s going to be a little bit telling and a little bit worrisome in terms of okay what is our projections with this guy here in Phoenix I I don’t know um it was interesting though to hear larza and I think Ryan dun also spoke to the fact that like he’s providing that leadership like we’ve been asking him questions he’s been kind of setting the tone so you know we heard similar things about ish way Wright last year so we can only take it to a certain extent um but you know hopefully he’s able to impress us and and as much as we talk about the rookies he could be a guy that like yeah I’ve played actual NBA it’s I’m I’m better I’m above this there are certain guys that when they come out to Summer League you’re like yeah that guy’s too good for summer league Rody needs to kind of prove himself as that a million percent uh before we end the show since you guys all brought it up and we all went on a little tangent now apparently for barbecue uh well let’s let’s do a couple things Ashley Shaw is our guy from Australia uh and he has he has been on the record by the way and said that if we ever did find our way out to Australia which we thought we were this close to with with jock with jock in the fold we thought oh man maybe if he would have resigned last year we’d have found ourselves in Australia uh this past summer but it didn’t happen but he did say he would cook for us if we ever came out there so we appreciate you Ashley uh he also said that uh he has cooked with Sterling Smith who is my guy from luten biry barbecue uh Sterling is has been close to doing a couple events with us but they haven’t worked out quite yet uh but he uh has recommended Little Miss barbecue uh Little Miss barbecue is Elite is fantastic to me it is the best barbecue you’re going to find here in the city uh so well not this city because this is Vegas and Vegas doesn’t really have good barbecue straight up just Lindy Smith uh and but in Phoenix check it out uh as for for me yes my barbecue slaps I think but I’m obiously biased everybody else can speak it to that nature so there you go conf can confirm and we’re having another uh phnx barbecue for sorry not for you guys yeah yeah meute we’re having a a Shane likes to call it Saul’s meat party um that’s a little much I’m gonna go with meat cute meat cute I like that very much so uh Shane is now or me can we do a meet and greet yeah meet and greet works okay and yeah everybody make sure to leave a like Gerald you know said he would he would do that if you leave a like so make sure 100 likes we get there before the end of the showd promise he’d do something what did I promise that I before the end of the show I don’t know that I promised anything likes I mean how many we got right now oh we only got 69 nice oh nice that is nice but not as nice as 100 would be so yeah yeah you only got a few minutes left we’re we’re stalling here we’re try C the drain right now um outside of that what’s one thing that you want to do while you’re here in Vegas we got listen we got today and tomorrow kind of like really with nothing to do uh we’re going to do a show tomorrow just because why not but outside of that do this week finish this bad boy first of all um but second of all uh I don’t know man I’ve been to Vegas so many times I kind of hate this city a little bit but I feel like I’ve done a lot of things iare it’s nice to be back I’m excited for summer league uh I don’t really know if I have anything on the bucket list at this point other than like gotta go to fuku Burger already went to Pink Box Donuts which is right nearby Circa where we are and Elite um you have anything they have a creamy donut over there that is just fantastic um uh I don’t but I did get a a Super Chat 99999 Super Chat from Michael Ramirez appreciate you Michael thank you uh what is your favorite cocktail to both of us favorite place to dine in Vegas and also when was our last hangover in Vegas um this morning so the last hangover will be tomorrow I will say uh favorite cocktail I’m a kind of a traditional kind of guy I do like old Fashions but if I’m trying to get it on the go so like if I’m at the poker table or something like that I typically like to go with a little whiskey and ginger ale that’s kind of just my thing uh you know cuz ginger ale for the the old man’s stomach and then whiskey just to [ __ ] it all up again so sure I kind of like that you so I do like if I’m having a drink like I’ll just go with a Jack and Coke which is my degenerate drink but I feel like have you ever had a green tea shot oh yes those are great those are I really do like those if You’ never had a green tea shot it’s whiskey but it’s not like whiskey like you would picture it it’s much smoother uh and better tasting so if you’re looking for a shot that you’ve never tried before definitely recommend that uh favorite place to dine in Vegas oh man yeah there’s so much reinforce Cafe say not reinforced Cafe we’ve been together as a group we’ve been to several different places we went to a like a dumpling spot last year which wasant that was great yeah what was it called Cosmo or is that no that’s the ARA Cosmo STK is Elite also yes yes Cosmo has several Elite places there’s a Mediterranean SE spot in Theo to me it’s the best I’ve ever had Seafood wi we haven’t been there yet we might need to go there I’m a seafood guy oh it’s so it’s so and then we went to bizar meets as a group first year at Sahara that’s run by only because of uh Melo owning the oh got but we don’t have to apply of those rules um but yeah that was fantastic that was good that was year one uh that’s run by Chef Jose Andre so that was pretty good okay uh but there’s so many other little spots like the first year we came out here as a group we had Korean fried chicken that was that’s what Gerald was talking about earlier like it was insanely good like and we definitely need to go back because it is just fantastic there’s that’s the one thing about Vegas is if you love food you will not be disappointed if you find the right spots because there are so many good spots out here yeah that place was bomb fuku Burger got to shout them out one more time uh if I’m drunk secret Pizza is a lifesaver usually when you’re in the cosmo area especially if you get one of those Buzz buttons and your mouth is numb so oh I’ve never had one of those you’ve never had a yeah you have the buzz button from the cosmo yeah it’s but it’s not called the buzz button it’s called the the verb but but the flow is called the buzz button yeah yeah yeah got you got chew the flour well actually you take a sip of your drink first then you chew the flour and the oils kind of give this like if you’ve ever eaten like Sichuan peppercorn I make your tongue kind of tingle and a little bit numb then you take it to drink again and it tastes completely different that’s in the chandelier bar at the cosmo you can’t that so there’s all your hookups for the week if you want to come out here and hang out with us and if you do happen to come out to Vegas please hit any one of us up on social we would love to connect with you out here uh we’re all the way out here at Circa which is fantastic it’s right by Fremont Street Fremont Street if you’ve never been you should come out because this is definitely an experience like unlike any other B Circa we’re right here Stadium swims right outside we’re in my room right now uh we have a nice little couch we have a great setup a nice big king bed for me they all have their own rooms it’s just fantastic man Circa to me for for the
