among all of the NBA channels here at chat sports Golden State Warriors today has the most subscribers but we’ve also picked up the most subscribers at the company 1,288 since the calendar fli to July button for daily and yearound coverage of the Golden State Warriors my general thoughts on the Warriors right now let me pose this question have the Warriors improved this off season I get it that Kyle Anderson DeAnthony Melton buddy heeld those new additions are solid and they do a good job of really rounding out the depth on this Warriors roster but can Golden State realistically compete in a loaded Western Conference I don’t think they can right now because other team teams continue to improve in the west and other teams are going to return to form during the 2024 2025 season and they’re already better than Golden State and for the Warriors you struck out on Paul George Paul George wanted to go there but the Clippers didn’t agree to that deal maybe you strike out too on Lori marinin who we’re about to talk about here in just a few moments the mission for me and the mission for Mike Dunley Jr and Steve cerr and this organization build around Steph Curry he is 36 years old he is still playing at a very elate level he needs some more help he needs some more Talent he needs another star on this team you bulk up the depth as I mentioned with Kyle Anderson DeAnthony Melton and Buddy heal but they’re not going to move the needle as far as the Warriors having a realistic opportunity to win an NBA championship so let’s try to construct a roster that makes the Warriors better this move would not bring in star to Golden State and in fact their moves that the Warriors could make in making trades with the Brooklyn Nets Dorian finny Smith and cam Johnson you’re not going to trade for both of them at the same time but if you individually pull off trades for one or the other I do think that both can improve this Warriors roster Dorian FY Smith is a player who has positional versatility very important in today’s NBA he can guard multiple positions he gives you size and length at that forward spot he can hit the corner triple so if he camps out in that corner he’s going to get open looks playing with Steph Curry Draymond Green who’s an excellent passing forward and Buddy heel buddy heeld and Steph Curry have the most three-point makes in the NBA over the last five years as for what Dorian Finn Smith has done over the last four seasons last year with Brooklyn struggled a little bit but keep in mind that Brooklyn team awful he connected on 42% of his shots less than 35% from three I want you to look though at 2021 2022 and the season before that when he was playing with the Dallas Mavericks and when he was on the Mavericks with Luca dones he got open opportunities he played the best basketball of his career and he had some help and if Dorian finin Smith were to have some help I believe that he can be that 39% three-point guy who gives you really good defense who’s really tough he’s physical and has that versatility to help out the Warriors as for his teammate cam Johnson and keep in mind that the Brooklyn Nets traded away Mel Bridges they could continue to rebuild that roster Johnson gives you size at 68 just like Dorian finy Smith but he’s a better three-point shooter as compared to Dorian finy Smith he’s had consistent offensive production as a secondary offensive option and this is a player who’s built for the playoffs he can defend and he can knock down the three his three-point shooting numbers throughout his career 20192 20 he connected on 39% of his threes on just under five attempts per game following year 34.9% on 5 and a half three-point attempts per game 2021 2022 three-point numbers go up to 5 42 a. half% on nearly six attempts per night in the last two seasons cam Johnson has taken north of six threp pointers a game and he’s knocked down 40 and 39% % of those opportunities that is really really excellent production for a player who gives you a lot of size and athleticism on this Warriors team pul question is this pick a Brooklyn Net to trade for DFS for Dorian finy Smith CJ for cam Johnson let me know down in the comment section right now last night I was watching Team USA take on Team Canada in the leadup to the Olympics us looked pretty good after some sluggish shooting stretches in that game to show notes and attached to the pin comment of this video we of course as part of the trade conversation for Golden State have to talk about lri marinan he has been a player who’s been rumored to be headed to Golden State Golden State rumored to be very interested in him and according to reports from Anthony Slater of the athletic golden state is willing to wait to see if they can land their prized possession and he is the apple of Golden State’s eye why well he would be a number two option next to Steph Curry which the Warriors currently do not have and then it slides everybody else back into a role that they’re better suited for on this roster he has a really quick release as a big from Deep he can really score at all three levels around the rim of course given the height has the mid-range has the three-point shot he also gives you more size to the lineup he’s not an elite Defender but he’s at least a passable Defender and marinin is a player who’s young so if you give him a contract extension you have him for the future and he could be a part of this organization for that next wave as Steph gets a little bit older or during the post Steph Curry era we know what marinin can do he’s already been an NBA Allstar he won NBA’s most improved player award in the last two years he’s been really good north of 23 points per game in each year more than eight rebounds 48 to 50% from the field and he’s been a 39 to 40% three-point shooter in each of the last two years of course what acquiring marinin would require I like how those words go together what acquiring marinin would require we’re giving you a show here on Golden State Warriors today like The Wire yeah we’re spitting bars is parting with Jonathan kaminga and multiple first round picks that’s the only way that you’re going to get lii marinin the Jazz that would signal a rebuild for Utah they want a potential star player back in giving away a borderline Superstar and lari marinan that player is Jonathan kaminga and then to build around kaminga and to streamline that rebuilding process they’re going to want and ask for multiple first round picks and if you’re Golden State you want to take advantage of Steph Curry being in his prime at 36 years old still as he and LeBron James the likes of those players really defying father time and is it worth it to risk those first round picks in order to try to compete for an NBA championship because if you bring in Lori marinan I do believe that the Warriors can win a playoff series against a lot of teams in the Western Conference especially with the experience on this squad and then we got to talk about Brandon Ingram next New Orleans Pelicans have clearly cooled on Brandon Ingram they don’t want to offer him a contract extension the Sacramento Kings were said to be interested but they pivoted they brought in Demar D rozan via that sign in trade and they gave him 70 plus million dollar with the player option attached to that contract my thoughts on Ingram here golden state has a really good player development program and Ingram’s confidence I think the last couple of years has gone downhill to start his career with the Lakers playing for that organization he didn’t play like a confident player then he became the most improved player and a really good scorer I think his confidence as mentals as marshan Lynch would say bay bay area Legend kind of down in the dumps but Golden State when you’re playing with Steph Curry when you’re playing with Draymond Green and you look around and you see all the titles that this core even without Klay Thompson has won even though that core is dwindling and you have Steve Kerr as your head coach I think they could rehab the confidence of Brandon Ingram they kind of did the same thing with Andrew Wiggins and look at how valuable he was during that title run in 2021 2022 Ingram does play a little bit methodically and we know that the Warriors like to play with that frenetic faster peace Tempo with a lot of ball movement getting up and down whereas Ingram sometimes likes to slow things down a bit because then he’s able to get into his offensive bag so it’s a little bit of a concern but when he’s right he’s a smooth scorer he’s going to be 27 years old in September so him and Markin in younger players and when Brandon Ingram is locked in he could play really good defense last four years the number still really good I just think they can be better three-point numbers have really kind of dipped two years ago only played 45 games this past year 64 did still average 21 points per nearly 49% from the field so that’s good but under 36% from three year before that 39% from three what happened in 2021 2022 when he only knocked down 32.7% of his three-point attempts sometimes he just loses confidence in that jumper but the season before that 38% and when you play with Steph Curry naturally you’re not going to be double teamed and swarmed as much you’re going to have more vacant looks and open looks to Barry some shots and I think that Brandon Ingram would be a decent addition for state that would probably require getting rid of Andrew Wiggins because there would be a Clashing of the Wings and I don’t think the Pelicans would take Wiggins back so you’d have to find a third team pick a player you want the dubs to trade for hopefully you enjoyed today’s
