Do you see how wide open Trae is?

Not a hawks fan but I was watching the play-in and now I see why Trae and DM didn’t work out.

  1. I’m also surprised the bulls got so many open threes.

I mean Trae also shouldn’t be standing in the parking lot when he doesn’t have the ball. Yeah he has ridiculous range but it also takes more time for the ball to get to him and for the defense to adjust. Also makes it a longer pass for whoever has the ball to execute on the move

Couple things. I have my own theories as to why it didn’t work out, ultimately. The bulls (like seemingly any other team) got wide open 3s bc our defense was terrible.

It could’ve been an iso play on this particular play, but iirc, I think Young was coming off an injury? Either way, there are instances of this both ways, it’s just that Young is a superior passer, with ELITE vision.

As to Murray, I said I wasnt going to even mention that dude but when he implied that we basically handicapped him on defense, I don’t think that’s true. IF that’s what he prides himself on, why did he blend right in with the team? It didn’t dawn on me until Kawhi got hurt for America, Derrick White was his replacement. Which in a round about way, reminded me he played with the spurs, same time as Murray did. White allowed Murray to gamble the way he did, but by far he’s just an average defender, (DJM)good Riddance

  4. Caruso would be on his ass before the ball got there

It looked like that a lot. There was a big belief amongst Hawks fans that when we got Dejounte it was also going to enable catch and shoot Trae, but it never happened. Dejounte is a pure iso scorer, not a point guard. And after everything that happened and how clear it was watching him never enable Trae, I have come around to believing that Dejounte came to Atlanta thinking he could take Trae’s spot and never intended to be a team player.

Murray has tunnel vision and ALMOST NEVER kicked it out to Trae when he was open. Trae definitely needs to continue to improve his off ball movement but DJM was pretty mediocre at playmaking and passing (Rarely were passes in the “shooting pocket”)

  7. I said that all season. I love DJ, but his playmaking is overrated, while trae’s playmaking is underrated af.

Uh Trae stands at that spot 85 percent of the game lol . He needs to get better at presenting a passing lane imo .

But that’s not why it didn’t work they are both pgs who need the ball. They never played off of each other very well and almost never both had good games on the same nights .

Trae shot was off the whole year why tf would he pass it to Trae 🤣🤣

He’s not on the team no more can y’all get over it?

  11. Bogi was open on the first one so if he didn’t want to pass to Trae he could have passed to him.

  12. I’m noticing Capela just sitting there at the FT line doing nothing. Its a hard pass to Trae but would be 10x easier if Capela was where he was supposed to be.
