Portland Trail Blazers Summer League roster breakdown – reaction and players to watch
Portland Trailblazers summer league roster is released uh we’ve talked about how numbers normally tell you how the team feels like if they assign you a gross number then you’re just an afterthought uh this team is full of afterthoughts there’s like three guys who don’t have a number in the 50s or 60s here Kennedy Chandler Donovan kingan young zqu I gotta say that one again y zq uh Kendrick Davis Quinn Ellis Javon Johnson Spencer Jones hung Jung Lee love I actually do love hung Jung Lee forgot about him but Hooper uh let’s go Davidson yeah he’s a Hooper Dustin manah Chris Murray Olivier Kwa Alex Reese Ryan ruper and Turk Smith tur Quon Smith okay all right yeah sure sure what do you making this roster kingan’s playing at most one game it might be one half like let kingan catch a la let him block block a couple shots and then like bring him back home this this team it has some fun guards who were just Electric in college whether it’s like Kenny Chandler Kendrick Javis and quavon Smith all those dudes were awesome but I mean they’re all small like they none all three will probably face an uphill battle stick in the league you mentioned Yung Jung Lee he was one of the best Shooters in the country at Davidson I bet he maybe he has a game where he like erupts and hits like seven threes or something Spencer Jones a knockdown shooter from Stamford but yeah you’re if I was a Blazers fan I just wanted I I’m going to relish my like one game of Donovan Kling and then probably not tune into the rest so here’s my one spin on this I think there is a world where kingan plays all of summer league and if that world occurs I think this team could win summer league I forget there was a team a couple weeks ago that I I circled and said they’re winning summer Le I forget who it is right now but um I I don’t think this roster is as good as that one but pending kingan playing the whole time I think like a kingan Hendrick Davis surrounded by like role player Shooters 3 and D guys like K can do that Chris Murray can do that young Jung Lee can hit shots Turk Smith is explosive I I think it feels like a real winning formula team like this this is a way I would want to build a successful basketball team if this was a serious League it’s all dependent on kingan being there but it could could happen I mean I definitely see that point I don’t want to overlook the fact that I like again a lot of these players were really fun to watch and College I just cannot get over the numbers like Turk Smith was a fringe first rounder when he was at NC State and they got him wearing 56 Olivier Kwa was was seen as this huge get for Michigan because he had big moments in the tournament against Tennessee played great defense against Duke in the round of 32 two years ago was like this freak athlete Incredible strength like had legit skill and they got him wearing 68 like I would have two years ago I thought K was a legit NBA Prospect yeah I don’t know I can’t get past the aesthetic of this Blazers team you’re right about the numbers it’s a big big sad point I I want it known K’s good Kwa also had a really serious injury his final year in Michigan and I think it might have ruined him forever so I I am intrigued to see what happens the last we saw him the only thing we saw from him in the feba stuff with Finland uh he was getting destroyed by Valdez edcom Jr that was him getting dunked on in that big viral dunk so I don’t know we’ll see but I I like the formula like Chandler or Davis at point three three and D guys and then cling it if that happens I think this team could be really good what would your starting lineup be Hendrick Davis at the one Turk at the two yep Chris Murray at the three KLA at the four kingan at the five it’s exactly what I would do bring hung Jung Lee Off the Bench Kennedy Chandler Off the Bench it’s a good group Spencer Jones too like I I think this team has real real stuff to him I think it could work uh who that guy quickly Yang zqu who that guy was he a draft pick I’ve never heard of Y zqu I don’t think he’d be wearing 58 if he was a draft pick for some reason I swear I’ve heard that name before I’ve never heard it but he’s my favorite player in summer league history uh second who that guy Javon Johnson who that guy no idea he was my who that guy had he had a cup of coffee with the Warriors oh depal that explains why we haven’t heard of him that would be that’d be the reason we’re who that guying okay all right good luck Blazers I’m intrigued play a couple games kingan please car you know what I love about you that I’m handsome you’re reliable I can count on you you know honestly you remind me of Aaron Henry a little bit remember when like you know their back was against the wall nothing was going right and man
