Why Nobody Wants Brandon Ingram

Why Nobody Wants Brandon Ingram

when the Pelicans traded for dejon Murray people were shocked it didn’t include Brandon Ingram to Atlanta OMG I am confused what the Hawks are doing yeah bi’s a much better compliment to Trey young than Dante but it turns out they didn’t want him and neither do the Pelicans they’re about to pay Trey Murphy who broke out which means bi loses his starting job can you imagine a Max Allstar in his prime Off the Bench the lineup is De CJ McCullum Trey Murphy Zion and they don’t have a center oh so just trade Ingram for a big man but right now nobody is interested why not Ingram’s value was so high two years ago getting Kevin Durant would likely require New Orleans to surrender Brandon Ingram but League sources say the Pelicans are unwilling to do so they valued bi over Kevin Durant now he’s toxic what happened well the drop off is recent n teams were obsessed with Ingram his obvious comp is a younger KD but less efficient he’s tall and lanky with shooting touch and ball skills the Lakers drafted him over Jaylen brown with the number two pick at the time La was in a terrible position post Kobe missed the playoffs four years in a row with no end in sight but a miracle young Paul George wanted to be a Laker he led Indie to back-to-back Conference Finals and was on the trading block so the Lakers had the key piece to make such a move they own the number two pick in the 2017 draft or Brandon Ingram but they kept the pick and never dealt bi they valued Ingram now PG just got his fourth Max contract bi is getting kick to the curb by a team that was in love with him one year ago not only did New Orleans give him a Max contract in 2020 he was their savior from Zion is constantly injured so the pels turn to Ingram to bail them out Zion had friction with the front office VI was casually hanging out with his coach and teammates at playoff games so two years ago Ingram dragged them to the playoffs winning back-to-back playin games then against the one seed Suns he was amazing pushing Phoenix to six games coach Willie Green said I firmly believe and the rest of us believe bi is one of the best players in the NBA it is great to see him put that on display in his hard work payoff but within one year of that quote everything changed Ingram and Zion’s chemistry was off and it was clear they played better with one of them on the court then with 12 games to go Ingram hurt his knee and was out so during a close playin game against the Lakers coach green benched Ingram and even when Zion pulled his hamstring Ingram stayed on the bench he bounced back against the Kings to get the e seed so they needed an elite bi against the Thunder game one came down to the final minutes tied at 90 the PS got three offensive boards in a row but failed to cash in they missed all four shots but the worst was a badly missed three from bi I am talking brick didn’t even touch the rim on the other end shil just Alexander calmly picked apart the defense to win the game Ingram was inefficient and sloppy four points in the second half because of Lou Dort if one man can shut down the other team’s best player you don’t stand a chance so sure enough the pels got swept Ingram said from Team USA up to this season it’s probably the worst I’ve been in New Orleans Pelicans uniform I have got to look in the mirror see before the season even started before the injury Ingram had beef with Steve Kerr the coach moved bi to the bench and asked him to back up younger guys like Josh Hart and Austin Reeves at the World Cup Ingram ended up with six points three boards and three assists per game what did Kerr hate about his game in FBA the defense is rewarded and in the NBA the offense is rewarded FBA is much more physical oh no that hurts so if you don’t play defense you can’t be a poor man’s Kevin Durant you got to be Kevin Durant and ironically KD’s defense is much better than bi’s so this offseason pel’s front office guy David Griffin promised major changes and he delivered with Deon but if Ingram said he wants a Max contract the pels can’t afford to pay that with Trey Murphy on board so they can either sign him to a lesser deal let him walk for nothing next year or trade him now we know the Hawks are off the table and Steve K’s Warriors but there are other rumors like Philly but they got Paul George or the Kings who got Demar D roza the perfect swap would be Ingram for Jared Allen at Center or the Magic’s Windell Carter Jr but despite the good fit there is zero reported interest the problem is not Ingram’s game or his personality he gets along great in the locker room he’s been an Allstar it’s his contract people are okay paying for potential but Ingram’s passed that I mean just look at the sequence in game one against OKC it felt like the old NBA vers the new not that Ingram is old but he used to be the hot upand cominging player uh now that’s SGA see with the new CBA if you make a contract mist stake it screws your team people are scared about being too expensive because of the dreaded second apron just look at the nuggets for two years in a row they lost Bruce Brown and cavius Caldwell Pope Championship level role players cuz they made a contract mistake joic and Murray on a Max but Michael Porter Jr that cannot happen in the old NBA you could pay a guy the Max and just trade him later but now it’s a death sentence nobody wants just just look at Zack LaVine so what I think happens is Ingram will be forced to take less than the max he’s the first guy that this is happening to with the new rules unless you’re a no doubt number one you ain’t getting big money it’ll happen with other players in the future like a Julius Randall or a Chris Middleton who expect a Max contract but don’t get the offer so this will give a much bigger meaning to Max contract I’ve heard so many people say over the years how is that guy on a Max players like Tobias Harris Jeremy Grant Michael Porter Jr Fred Van Ved or back in the day like Chandler Parsons or Al Horford those types of Maxes are gone forever it will now be a huge badge of honor to be a max player which makes sense guys who teams know is a true number one or two it just so happens Brandon Ingram is the first player this is all going to happen to he’ll be the example we all point to when a non-mat player demands big money so it will hurt but could be the best thing for his career I think a bi like an Aaron Gordon he was drafted to Orlando and compared to LeBron because of his football player type body he never lived up to that though and was traded to Denver then as a number three or four in a much better role to contribute to a championship in Orlando it sucked everybody sniping at him for not living up to his potential but that’s okay because Gordon changed his Ro took less money and now is happy with his basketball life he went from a guy nobody wanted as a number one to a role player every team would love to have and we’re at that exact same turning point in Brandon Ingram’s career but right now nobody wants bi if they have a chance at Cooper flag tons of teams are going to tank for this kid he will go number one in the 2025 NBA draft especially after what he just did to some of the best players in the league [Music]

Brandon Ingram was in trade rumors but the deal never happened. He’s still in New Orleans which is a problem for him and the team. This is a look at why BI’s reputation has taken a hit on the court and what his future looks like.

  1. Brandon Ingram and Donovan Mitchell would be a deadly combo. Unlike Zion and Ingram, I think that Donovan Mitchell and Brandon Ingram would actually work pretty well together.

  2. Ingram hasn’t played more than 64 games since his rookie season. Way too injury prone to be relied upon, especially at $35M a year.

  3. The new cba is good for the nba. Specially if the teams can use this as leverage against greedy agents. So many players are over paid and under worked. Being paid a ton of money just to throw bricks or warm the bench.😅

  4. The NBA needs to add two new teams to have a expansion draft Seattle and Las Vegas i guarantee they would pick up the bad contracts of
    Zach Levine and Bradley Beal
and Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole and help these teams out

  5. I honestly think they should lower the max. It'd spread the money around on teams and make moves a lot easier.

  6. I like the vid, but one. Cj isn’t gonna start, it’s gonna be herb jones. 2. Why would the pelicans trade their soul for KD. It’s failed horribly once already, and he doesn’t fit on their timeline. That trade was more complicated then just giving up BI. Brandon Ingram is just not a good fit in Nola, but no one else will pay him. He is def gonna start though, just not finish.

  7. Mans comoared B.I to Aaron Gordon

My only gripe with this video is AARON GORDON!!! 😂

Aaron Gordon on the Magic ( 7 seasons)
    12.9pts 6.4rebs 2.5ast

    B.I on the pels ( 5 seasons)
    23.1pts 5.5rebs 5.2ast

    Complete different tiers of players

    Also
    P.G got max
    Barnes got max
    Wagner got max
    Cade got max

I get the last 3 were rookie extensions but image knowing you have been and are better then them and more expectations are on you to succeed but you wont be compensated appropriately, and your just entering your prime at 26-27 years old… Must be frustrating

  8. Saying the pelicans valued Brandon Ingram over KD is flat wrong and the worst take I have ever heard from dude.

  9. The league is moving away from players like BI.. Especially at the forward position. Teams want playmaking and defensive forwards
