Psyched. You know what surprised me about Lowry last season, his defense. He really dedicated himself to stop guys like Jimmy. He’s a perfect backup.

Great move. I said before that a second reliable ball handler/initiator who could take some pressure off Maxey and run the second unit offense was still a need and Lowry exactly fits the bill. Obviously at this point he’s not a frontline player anymore but he should give us 10-15 good minutes a night in this role and he’s a great locker room guy who will be happy to play the role.

Probably an unpopular opinion but Lowry was pretty cheeks for us in the playoffs. That’s probably because we played him big minutes as a 2 guard rather than the backup PG to Maxey he should have been but that’s also on Nurse for giving Buddy Hield basically no chance to play. 11 minutes in game one, 14 minutes in game two, 4 minutes in game three. Finally brought back in game 6 where he went flamethrower and helped spark a massive 48-23 rally going into the half… promptly left on the bench for the whole 3rd quarter.
But Buddy was bad in those minutes the first couple games – yeah ok look up Lowry’s numbers when he was on the floor 32 minutes a game for the whole series. I’d rather have taken a chance on our actual shooting guard adjusting to playoff basketball instead of playing Lowry out of position at the 2 for big minutes. Evidently Lowry was so important to the team we just had to play him the whole 3rd quarter at the 2 again despite giving us nothing.
