“West conference has no room for Lakers” – Stephen A calls out Rob Pelinka after DeRozan joins Kings

trade that will see Sacramento acquire Demar D rozan from the Bulls in a three te Deale D rozan is going to get threeyear 74 million doar Dale keep in mind he averaged 24 points per game last season for the Bulls and he’s one of five players to average 20 points per game in each of his last 11 Seasons so it goes to rozan LeBron Steph ad and Damen Lillard the kings are acquiring D rozan but the deal also means moving Harrison Barnes to the Spurs Sacramento was then trading chrisal Arte two second round picks and cash to the Bulls as part of this as well and J rozan now gets to partner with dearen Fox and damont sabonis in Sacramento and then on Q because it is summer league look at who is there the newest King arriving at summer league in Sacramento Hi how are you nice to meet you I am the new guy W is not new to any of this he’s joining us now look how did this finally get to the Finish Line how did we get this done well I think the kings were the one team with real interest beyond their mid-level exception uh in Demar D rozan so they were pretty persistent the last week of trying to get Chicago engaged in this a sign in trade listen when you trade for Demar D rozan especially as he’s about to turn 35 you are trading for offense he can still score the ball you have certainly seen his defense deter rate as he’s gotten older but this is still a 24 25 point a game score the Kings look at the West they see other teams improving and you know they move Harrison Barnes out who played significant role in getting this team back into the postseason but they still believe the Rosen has you know some good basketball left in him and now he’ll take center stage with you know dearon Fox sabonis and and this is a team in Sacramento that wants to get out of the playin and back into the playoffs they’re banking on three years 74 Million worth of offense that’s what Angel Lakers who by the way failed to land Klay Thompson that’s somebody they needed they couldn’t get him in free agency cuz opted to go to Dallas instead now Rob palinka and the Lakers front office are trying to figure out their next move since resigning LeBron James a 2-year $14 million deal just the other day one option still on the market supposedly is free agent and Los Angeles native Demar de rozan who spent the last few years in Chicago who’s missed the mid-range who Kendrick Lamar teased you know at his concert could be trying to be a Laker we know that dear D rozan would love to be a Laker but he wants to get paid and I’m not knock him for that I think Demar D rozan would be a really really good pickup for the Los Angeles Lakers I don’t think it’s going to happen I think the stiffest competition is Miami they’ve got some questions about Jimmy Butler Jamal D rozan is 34 years of age hasn’t had Jimmy Butler’s injury history it’s it’ll be interesting to see what Miami does what Demar de r rozan ends up doing if he goes to the Los Angeles Lakers particularly with the money accorded to LeBron James and others the fact that he ain’t trying to touch that second apron or the luxury tax situation I doubt that he going to end up in Los Angeles if he were to end up there however even though he’d be an additive a plus as opposed to a liability because of his ability to score without needing LeBron James with Anthony Davis to do it for him because he’s miss the mid-range etc etc I still think it’s a little bit different because LeBron James controls the tempo and the ball and as a result of that if you’re demard De Rosa you don’t want to be sitting around waiting for LeBron James to give you the ball because you’re not some spot up shooter so to me I think that actually the Miami Heat situation would be a lot better for Demar de rozan then the Los Angeles Lakers even though I would love to see the Lakers get another Bonafide scorer on the court with LeBron and with Anthony Davis of course but who knows what’s going to happen with that these rumors are percolating about the mar Rosen with the Lakers because obviously he’s um a part of Kendrick you know he’s seen in the video anyway he was at the concert with Kendrick Lamar all this other stuff so we get that all right that’s what happened with that to talk more who and we got to start with the big news that came from Dallas yes Klay Thompson has agreed on a three-year $50 million contract with the Mavericks clay leaves the Warriors after 13 Seasons Four championships now we’ll look to help Luca donic and the Mavs get back to the NBA finals and Clay could be exactly what the Mavs needs he has eight seasons of shooting over 40% from three that Trails his former Splash brother Steph for the most such seasons in NBA history meanwhile you know Luca has never had a teammate shoot over 40% in the season in his career and the Mavericks a wild stat looking to improve on their wful shooting of course from the finals okay that won’t exist after we got to talk about this you know uh Wendy I I guess I’ll start with you because how did you in your opinion Klay Thompson signing with let’s say the Mavericks over the Lakers when Lebron called him personally the Lakers were supported reportedly offering him a similar U Financial package as well I actually probably don’t think it was that close for clay I mean I know that the Lakers are a big draw because they’re his hometown team but they’re not comparable to where the Mavericks are from winning uh from competing for championships the Mavericks are right there on the doorstep and they were here in LA with niik harrrison their general manager with Jason kid their head coach and they presented him the very clear plan of how they were going to use him and as you mentioned there’s clearly a hole exactly where he would fit in um as a spot up three-point shooter and above the break three-point shooter especially where they where he could really thrive in what they’ve already got going and here’s the thing like the Lakers are still a bit of a mystery JJ reck were not exactly sure what his system is going to look like how he’s going to operate clay knew for months he was leaving the Warriors and he got to spend the whole spring basically shopping he watched Dallas win three play playoff series and go to the finals total recruiting pitch for him whether they knew it or not so the fact that the state income tax was a was a factor making this actually worth a little bit more money than the Lakers offer I I guess I’ll throw that on the pile but I think this was probably a pretty clean decision um that it took clay you know he wanted to hear the Lakers out and you know get past the heartstrings there but Dallas makes the most sense for him in a vacuum you look at this think Klay made the right decision choosing Luca over LeBron and the Lakers yeah I mean Brian just summed it up the the Lakers are not a team that’s a serious Championship Contender and the MS are just in the finals right I know we’d love to have the Lakers be in the finals I know our whole network would be thrilled about that but one playoff game then they really were not competitive overall in that series whereas you look at what Dallas did Dallas beat Oklahoma City they beat Minnesota they act they get a game off boss in the finals they’ve got LCA donic in his prime entering his prime going to be the favorite going in the next season to win MVP this is the much better situation for Klay Thompson to go into and to me this was a no-brainer forget the state tax stuff forget all of that Klay Thompson goes to Dallas a team where he could potentially win like Allan’s been talking the last couple days about the be in Southern California he’d also maybe be home for the playoffs like that’s not what he’s looking to do he’s looking to show he could be there late into the spring that’s a really San point because I don’t think many people real I for the Lakers just one top six finish in the west last 12 Seasons himbo gave me that stat by the way what what is clay make the Mavericks in your opinion Alan well they already were a championship Contender because they got to the finals right so that that they already are that what he does is he gets them even closer to that he gives them what they’re missing we saw in the finals that they struggle from three shooting under 32% from downtown and when you have a guy like Luke and also Kyrie you got to have four spacers but he also brings experience so you get that part of it as well somebody that has played in the biggest stages and has performed in the biggest stages as well you have that but I go back to also saying the decision that Klay Thompson made it’s really it benefits both they needed him for all the reasons why I just laid out he needed them because Revenge success is the best revenge and that’s what he’s also got approv to the Golden State Warriors that you sent me away I’m the first one to leave so that mean means I’m done I got nothing less that I can give you but watch me win a championship with them while you continue to dismantle this dynasty you you you forget you forget the Maverick only shot 32% in the finals 32% from three in the finals this is a guy who shot [Music] spe e e for spe e spe spe spe spee spe for [Music] s

  1. But we know what Bulls was asking for? So we are assuming Lakers just did nothing. Man they could be asking for too much. Lakers gonna do what is best for them. Couple seasons ago y'all was Lakers team was old now they are keeping their youngins and y'all still complaining

  2. There's really no one available in trade talks that will put Lakers over the top. Lakers need to just add depth untill there's an available star or super star.

  3. I don’t think this is a good trade. Derozan does exactly what Fox does but less. They should have aimed for a dynamic wing that serves as the POA defender.
