  1. Clingan looked great on the defensive end. Gobbled up rebounds and blocked everything. On the offensive end, well, I don’t think he will be a shooter anytime soon. The few times we managed to get the ball to him on the roll they had to foul him so that’s good to see. I also loved the one hook shot he was able to get.

Team looked nervous in the first half but seemed to get their sea legs in the second half.

Great showing on defense and the boards for Clingan. Offense needs some work. Pretty much as advertised.

He’ll be a great backup big this year

Some players to keep in mind when evaluating our young guys’ Summer League showings

    Caleb Swanigan being a force

    Batum looking terrible

Josh Selby sharing the MVP award with Lillard

A lot of the important aspects of SL are behind the scenes, Coachability, chemistry/building off court rapport with the guys (love seeing our core all sitting sideline), and getting used to NBA style work/coaching/playbooks.

Obviously look for the good and bad, but remember the dudes’ games and what they’re there for along with if they’re able to play to their strengths. Kris is a better connector than initiator and we’re without a good initiator, Rupes was a super project when drafted and played better than we thought his rookie year but is still super raw, Clingan’s 3pt shooting was not why he was drafted so don’t get hung up on the weak 3s in one game.. All in all, feel free to talk about these guys’ struggles, just don’t get lost in the sauce

First half slop. Second half hustle. Big man rushed his shots but wow! He gives us such a different defense

Fairly pleased with Clingan’s first outing, particularly on defense but he’s got a bit of settling in to do on offense. But nobody could get him the dang ball so we might not get a great sense of his offense in SL.

One guy I was not feeling too much is our newest guy Mcgowan. Didn’t feel like he was making winning plays and was looking for his own.

Clingan is going to be a good player, but his offense is worse than I expected.

Desperately need good guard play to get Clingan going on offense. Defense though? As advertised.

  8. redwheelbarrow_

I really liked Clingan’s defense, and Rupert had a nice second half.

I really wish Scoot had played this game. It would’ve helped his chemistry with Clingan, and Clingan would’ve gotten some better looks

  10. Our guards are damn clueless. I thought clingan looked really good as advertised on the defensive end. He is going to be very important for us

  11. I’d be willing to bet that last 2-way goes to Alex Reese

  12. GaviFromThePod

13 boards 5 blocks and a steal. No complaints.

Really pleased with the rim protection from Clingan, didn’t make me feel better about his lack of mobility.

Still think scoot should play with clingan in sl look our guard….

  15. blinkomatic

What’s the comparison people have for Clingan. I’m getting some Walker Kessler vibes

  16. Rupert 2nd half was nice. Don’t think any Blazer had a good first half. Offense was pretty rough for most

  17. natural_lawg

How did Clingan’s rebounding compare to NBA veterans? It seems like it’s on the high range.

  18. Alternative_Ad2284

Getting crapped on by bouyea was not in my 2024 bingo card

We don’t need Clingan to take jump shots if we have middy master Ayton playing 4. Just keep him down low for putbacks and rim protection.
