welcome back to Las Vegas and I’m standing next to the new Portland Trailblazer Denny ABIA uh you were acquired on draft day what’s the transition been like for you joining the Portland Trailblazer well uh well I was asleep when it happened back home so uh it’s nice I’m very excited uh you know honestly I’ve been with DC for four years now you know it’s been uh quite a ride but I appreciate everything they’ve done for me and now it’s a chance to come to a new place and shine and help the team win so I’m excited okay so describe to me you woke up um to text messages what like how did you figure this out you know what was it like you were sleepy did you think you were dreaming I’m sleeping I told my dad yo he wake me up if something happen so and uh he did and I didn’t I was like I was really surprised and uh I think the element of surprise kind of wasn’t in a good taste but in the end of the day when I when I think about it uh it’s awesome new opportunity uh I get a chance to explore to West Coast a little bit so it’s nice and uh that’s it I’m going to bring my impact wherever I go and it seems like you’ve turned the page pretty quickly you’re sitting next to uh a few of your you know key members of your team you know how much have you gotten to know some of your new teammates and are you getting some run out with them here in Vegas uh some of them are new uh just uh getting to meet them right now some of them I’ve I’ve known from the past and uh good group of guys young fun um I think it’s going to be think it’s going to be a blast for Real uh good good players good people it’s all you need for to play basketball and you talked about your four years in Washington but last year specifically I mean career best 50% from the field what what was working so well for you last year and how do you feel like you can carry it over um this season I guess kind of a late bloomer you know uh obviously I had an impact on the defensive hand uh when I came to the league and then you know the offensive game kind of came along confidence experience and I feel like also teammates and coaches put me in a good position for me to succeed and hopefully I’m going to continue that for Portland uh it’s been awesome it’s been awesome ups and downs you know like every other player but I’m happy I uh I managed to turn the corner a little bit Yeah and and and you’re also sitting um near your new head coach chony Phillips what are the conversations you’ve had with him about you know his vision for you uh under his tutelage just helped the team you know uh I I really can do it all on the court and he’s very excited um I think uh Blazers were missing a player like me that kind of help help them uh come and win and I feel like I’m excited he’s a really good coach uh he was a really good player so hopefully I can learn from him a little bit and uh that’s it I’m positive forgive me but did you play Las Vegas sub League I didn’t I had Co one year it was Co no it was Co year I got injured I had Co so so I ended up not playing at all but you’re here to support yeah I’m here to support so that’s that’s the most important well we I I know Blazers fans are excited to see what you can do in their uniform next season thank you so much for taking the time to to talk to us and and good luck thank you appreciate it all back to you guys
