[Stein] League sources say that the expectation now, furthermore, is that Bridges is likely to follow Brunson’s lead and sign a team-friendly deal of his own when it’s his turn to negotiate an extension.

Overpay was already fine because of the fit/not giving up rotation players but when you consider the brunson deal and now mikal gonna be underpaid too? Huge W

I’d like to know what Randle does given his extension is after Jalen but before Mikal. If he follows, I’m all for keeping Ju around for the long run.

  3. When can he sign an extension? This summer or next?

  4. Extra_Cress_5855

bridges might be a harder pill to swallow for him because brunson can make up so much just from sponsorships.

But, but, but…Brunson only did this because we are paying his assistant coach Dad under the table money? Why is Bridges going to do this? /s

If he does this then it completely takes the wind out of the sails of those who ripped the Knicks for giving up so many picks.

These dudes see Clyde as the toast of NYC for the last 50 years, and want a part of that action

bridges is going to get a max extension. it’s a “team friendly deal” because it’s a lot less than he can get if we waits until he’s a free agent. weird CBA rules for whatever reason limit the extensions when you do them ahead of time.

But but but the nbapa won’t stand for this! They’ll have to force him to sign for more money ahhhh the Knicks can’t get away with this

They’re going to need to start framing the 5 pick deal for Bridges the same way they did the PG13 trade to the Clippers. Everyone freely accepted that the cost for PG was so high because the Clips wouldn’t have gotten Kawhi otherwise.

Knicks paid 5 picks to pay the local rival tax, but also to secure affordable contracts for their best players. This is a team that buys into a winning vision. To be clear I think it’s very possible the FO came to Brunson early this offseason with a list of players to target (Bridges, PG13, Spida, whoever) and asked him to rank his targets. They probably had a handshake deal that if Leon could pull of a Bridges trade that Brunson would take a discount to keep the roster financially viable.

  11. Team players has a whole new meaning. These guys are kings.

I just do not expect a whole bunch of other players on any team to follow suit lol

I’m just very excited to see this team on the floor.

What an amazingly incorrect use of “furthermore”

This is beautiful, the only reason that this is a big deal is our culture makes it hard to understand sacrificing money to make sure other people are good. What an amazing opportunity, playing basketball in NYC with your friends from college while making hundreds of millions of dollars, and it’s called a sacrifice🤣

Ok but seriously, we should check if this is cool with the Philly fans first though.

They’re all friends and they wanna play together so they’re willing sacrifice to make it work
