If this is accurate, I think we're better off without Klay. Guy has to be realistic about where he is in his career,, and a 4-year extension, or even 3 years is too much to ask. If he really thinks he's going to be a good player in 3 or 4 years, then why does he need a guaranteed contract that long?

> in a recent article from Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe, it was revealed that a big disagreement between how Thompson viewed himself vs. how the Warriors viewed him
I believe Gary Washburn is a respectable journalist (who makes Mazzula mad with his questions lol) when it comes to Boston-related stuff. But since when does he know anything about the Warriors and Klay lol I never really know him to be one to go outside of his beat like this
They gave Klay plenty of opportunities to not live up to his contract
Yup! This is exactly why he struggled last year. He believed his skills progressed Iâve that two year absence. Iâd love to see his dribbles to shots numbers pre and post injury.
Had he accepted being the catch and shoot guy he was for his career, heâd of been huge for us and who knows whatâŠ
Part or me does and doesnât hope he accepts that reality in Dallas.
I mean it was reported his final offer to us was 2/40 and we didnât do that either. Maybe he started at 3/4 years though.
His body language and attitude throughout the season has actually proven that.
I agree
He cant even beat those Chinese boys.
I mean it’s pretty clear the guy needed a fresh start. His ego and attitude combined with his legacy here in the Bay made it virtually impossible for him to ride off into the 20 min a game, not starting, not closing sunset.
The Warriors are better off not having his mediocre play and negative energy. I do however hope he lights it up in Dallas.
0 points in his last game.
I think he would have been okay if he had rehabbed the ACL with the Warriors instead of on his own. Even though they won’t admit it I think they blame the Achilles tear because of that.
Love klay and what he has accomplished.
But damn, was it hard to watch him the past few years continually shoot us out of games. Like, the majority of the season he was just chucking, taking bad shot after bad shot without even looking. There were a ton of games where klay would just get tunnel vision and he’d miss the other team would the board and would score and then we were down like 10-15 in a matter of minutes.
I wish we could keep him and have him come off the bench and really get through to him about his chucking, which for a few games did work. I wish him all the luck in Dallas and I hope he crushed it over there.
klays issues is more of mental. the issue of wanting to do more. hes still a goated shooter but the shot selection makes his percentage nose dive.
I really dont think its that deep. Klay left a bottom feeding Warriors team for a contender in the Mavericks. Anyone else with a brain would do the same.
He was recovering from 2 back to back career ending injuries – that takes a while to recover from. Ya only allowed him one “bad” (by his standards) seasons and then clipped him rather than letting him try and get into his groove again.
>”Thompson, despite missing two full seasons with injuries, felt he was nearly the same player he was before and the Warriors didnât agree. Thompson felt as if he should have been compensated with a four-year deal similar to Draymond Greenâs and Andrew Wigginsâs, especially since neither has lived up to their contracts.”
I feel like I’ve seen some posters on this sub make this exact same argument.
I want yâall to know. Warriors were 5-0 without Klay last season.
Team barely lost so many fucking games. To be 5-0 without him is not an aberration.
Addition by subtraction.
Love all the stuff Klay has done in the past. But you pay him for future performances not past performances unless youâre Steph curry.
Honestly, I think a change of scenery is best for him and it was just the right time for both sides to move on. All good things must come to an end, I hope things work out well for him with Dallas.
Everyone helped inflate Klay’s ego including the front office (big contract extension when he was injured), Kerr (I’m going to ride or die with Klay) and the fans (Klay Day). It’s hard to fault just Klay here.
Yeah yeah whoâs giving us 18 on 38 from 3 and 93 from ft now
Um⊠seeing how he signed a 3 year , $50M contract⊠sounds like it wasnât unrealistic
Watching Klay the past two years made me really appreciate the grace in which Andre came off the bench
I am hoping it’s a perfect fit for him and he is a helpful player for his new team.
