back to Vegas we’re in just a few minutes we here at the Pavilion in Utah bring Katie George on the call excited to take this one and with and PJ that’s the the fun thing about uh coming to Summer League you see people you have their head coach or their front office that they’re good enough to contribute Jazz have a nice performance on your Friday’s debut what clicked for you uh like I just got more comfortable with the more games I play Summer League is such a learning opportunity oh I didn’t want to set any expectations or put any you know unneeded pressure on myself this his stuff tonight both these teams already have some experience in the summer league the [Music] King in Las Vegas where we’ve got you two teams that hosted L 11 days it’s amazing how this event has grown every team’s going to play five games we’ll check in with Katie George in just a minute at PJ it’s our first game together here summer league Sacramento actually was involved in two of them one in golden one one at K hasn’t really had trouble so it’s uh nice to watch with well you talked about not shooting a well when you shoot it from that distance you’re going to shoot a well took more than six threes in a game when he was in college at Colorado and they got a took advantage of it played extremely well he was the opposite he played big team and in California in the summmer league start is in the starting lineup which must be much of the overall pick last year out of UCF David we’ve seen Jenna Jenna worked in the league worked a lot in the g a tip it yeah Duke versus Gonzaga and the Kings control the opening that was a good basketball game uh the first game for Sacramento was not a good basketball game to watch turns 26 next week whips it to the corner for Colby Jones floater on point Ellis a great defensive player that’s how he join the rotation and stuck there is Timmy with the take and the pick six is re against the Grizzlies Friday when they were sputtering out of the gate Ellis and ker will be a great match up all day Ellis are looking for their first points almost 2 minutes in 10minute quarters here in the summer league 10 fouls to get to the bonus as well Timmy so ke will be patient nice look from Philip psky great recovery ell Colby Jones knocks down the triple you only have two time out it’s not easy two half trying to find pH is a lot bigger yes I think that’s a fair assumption Mason Jones on the step side more than three minutes in and Alice is on the board so all five Kings have scored before the Jazz Heavens watching him here he’s more deliberate he’s taking his time he maybe Rush that one a little bit not a quick shooter does not have a quick release yet at 12 guys in this game [Music] Jones stays with really did a great job one of the biggest differen is the defense that Sacramento had played settling down a little bit nine rebounds a game as a guard brings a lot of energy Kings fans will have to wait to see him and outstanding blood lines basy didn’t play in college had his pocket pick by Ellis numbers for the Kings up top that ends a 4 nothing spurt for the Jaz after their slow start here’s klier on the kick okay Doug Christie did say that the balls were different they were not NBA balls apparently for that game they were sticky they were weird he said that was no ex 31 turnovers is incredible even for one of my teams playing Balance made a million bucks worked on his game on his own ultimately was a first round pick Ellis with a deep one beating the shot point shooters in the WCC he’s an excellent shooter and shot it very well in their opening win got very little time and seven Kings already in the scoring col Max aith on the floor for Utah he tried to Colby Jones got out to a hot start two for two with five points on the Block tried to drop it off to that a great length last night din we derailed the conversation quickly there’s Asus that’s his first shot score 3,000 points and get 500 assists it’s a pretty good collegiate career he can fill it up folks in case you’re wondering who that good-looking gentleman to the left of us has been all week that would be Dave fre stats he should be on a talent contract I’m glad they’re not going down one more CU if Dave stoen gets on we’re really in trouble Justice for the exciting there’s a lot of Pack 12 guys in a game we’re doing tomorrow PJ we have the last two pack 12 defensive players of the year and when I say last boy dou Christie was about as good as it was you talk about that was it 7 years Sacramento didn’t go playoffs and that was they got the shot clock reset Justice sees it good defense from Crawford Justice tries to go through him kby Jones matched up with Cody Williams puts him in the blender pulls it drills it kby Jones again blocked by Williams and that’s how the first quarter comes to a close mentioned the Mar Roan that’s a big offseason move for the Kings three years 74 million he’ll make up the big three with Fox and some former latte Bulldogs in this game we’ll see Kenneth Lofton Jr we expect for Utah at a game-winning free throw the other night for Sacramento you think about how many shots Fox sabonis and D rozan will soak up maybe looking to see who can play around those guys here in Vegas Drew Carter PJ cariso KD George with you glad to be joined by the Utah and get to understand them a little bit better so uh it’s been fun so far would have been a lot more fun if we did the interview last game till they get untracked here summer league what do you feel like you learned from those few games yeah I think the number one thing that we learned was that the the young guys that we drafted are really competitive as we try to continue to help them get better at everything else no surprise will but Cody and Kyle in particular just looked and they’ve they’ve kind of taken the nerves off a little bit fair to say uh Sur surprised and yet pleased to see that type of stuff is huge for us um and so we were thrilled to see him at that and chances of improving and becoming a three-point threat yeah absolutely where you guys got him in the second round yeah absolutely know Kyle was probably disappointed with how draft night went what are your conversations with him like about so take that disappointment or whatever emotions you have and channel it and you know don’t lose sight of it sometimes goes by the boards will spent a lot of time in San Antonio Manu was wearing the 50s some of the guys that were such not good great players there’s there’s expectations that come with when where you’re drafted there’s chatter now but like most things in the world people uh for for you guys for the team and and for the coaches yeah it’s not easy um losing is no fun we’re in the NBA Seasons don’t always unfold the way you you want them to 82 games is a long time um and saw how we uh there’s a lot of things that impact winning and losing exactly um it it’s not just when you win all the things that go with it so um we all have a lot of learning to do this Young Guy’s doing very well Drew and he’s got fortunately he’s got Danny a and Justin and had a chance to do both play in the G league and play the big team second in points behind only Tyler hansboro if folks summer league ESPN 2 that’s at [Music] six Vision so he could see the whole picture which he says translated to the basketball court and helped him become a great passer colier says he tries to just keep it simple he focuses 63 210 couple plac has had him as the number one broadcas the p network I saw a lot of games everybody thought pack the Pack 12 favors was going to be Southern Cal and uh nightmare uh lead for them they go to the Big 10 Eric musman takes over Boogie anymore if he gets his shot stuff from the corner to the Lane he’s got to do a better job finishing just not strong enough but very different body than his brother different type of player than uh they know the college game I get my their teammates that’s the exuse to come to Las Vegas uh in the summer so everybody’s here everybody saw Danny a sitting Courtside next to by Danny a now trying to do something similar with Utah back toback years where they got up to a really promising start and then sputtered down the stretch sitting on the bench with pop there is no doubt and Boston by the way we’re talking about giving giving credit when he was with M and of getting a good shot and getting two possessions is really important in our league cier just Wards off Ellis one playing in the goal in one Center in Sacramento the other playing and it’s valuable also gave some of these younger guys a chance to play with you know just cuz someone struggles in summer league is not an indication of their future with shot Miss [Music] [Music]
