76ers Rumors On SIGNING Doug McDermott In NBA Free Agency + Sign Summer League Standout Keve Aluma?

coming up on today’s Philadelphia 76 there now two stories that we want to hit and two players that we want to expand on should the Sixers signed Doug mcder an NBA free agency and also the summer Sixers in action in Las Vegas for the summer league and keev Aluma who some people are calling ke Aluma like the play-by-play announcers what Google tells us is keev Aluma really balling out for Philadelphia we are trying to test some audio stuff here at chat sports by the way to improve the quality for all of you so bear with us as we do that I do want to set a record for today’s show can we hit that sub button and with that let’s talk some Sixers right now [Music] and let’s begin Today’s Show with Story number one and topic number one should the Sixers signed Doug mcder the kraton Sharpshooter has had some decent moments at the NBA level he cannot defend at all but what does he do well shoot the basketball and we want to talk about whether or not it’d be a good idea for Philadelphia to sign him in NBA free agency to really round out this roster to bring in a player who you know has an elite trait and that’s shooting the three-point shot now last year with Indiana didn’t see the floor a lot and in the NBA Playoffs didn’t see the floor at all under head coach Rick Carlile because of the defensive reasons you think about how the Pacers also play offensively very frenetic Pace up and down the floor and Doug mcder doesn’t always fit that the numbers from last year five and a half points per game 43.3% from the field but 41% from three-point range and over the last four years going back to that Elite trait what does he do very very well knocks down shots from distance 2020 2021 with Indiana 38.8% San Antonio Spurs in 2122 42.2% from three following year 41.3% from three so there is a sample size of what MC dermot’s been able to do throughout the majority of his NBA career when gets minutes he knocks down shots from theond the career 41% three-point shooter that is ninth in the NBA but the reason why Doug mcder has not been able to see the floor more consistently is because he cannot defend so we Circle back to that question of today’s show and that is this I firmly believe the Philadelphia 76ers have improved drastically from last year they still have a couple of spots to fill fill out that roster on their bench which brings us to this name Doug mcder he shoots the three-point shot at an elite clip a career 41% guy could he be a good addition to the Sixers team which could use another shooter with some size I’d be entertained by the idea because all the Sixers can do is bring in vetman players the issue with Doug mcdermit which might drive Nick nurse crazy though and which is why Philadelphia might not sign him he sting on the defensive end and he is a traffic cone so Chip I’ve kind of shared my thoughts on this what do you think not really going to give you a lot in any aspect of the game outside of shooting the rock no and look you said it best he is a awful Defender he’s not going to play make for you he’s not going to go grab rebounds he’s not going to do anything else besides shoot threes but look if you’re looking to fill up the roster with vetman guy which you know the market will just continue to go down as these players continue to sign could you just Target a specialist right a guy that if you need a three before the end of the half if you’re looking at certain situations and you think okay we just need a guy at the back end of our bench who’s not going to play I I would not sign Doug mcder to be in the regular rotation I’ll tell you that much there’s plenty of players rookie Council for example that I would rather have coming off the bench in the forward spot before Doug mcdermit but again again if you just need one of those last couple spots filled why not get a guy who you at least know can do one thing really well and so you know what you’re getting from him from him as a player who you might not know if you were to put him in for a few spot minutes here and there which you’re going to get so look I think I would do it maybe not over some other minimum targets like maybe a lot Walker who’s still out there in available but just for just for the shooting ability alone and for again a minimum contract I think it could be well worth the money yeah and I think we both make some interesting points here offense he’s a plus defense he’s a huge minus and if you’re going to talk about Doug McDermot talk about some of the other players who Philadelphia could sign which is what chip did in bringing up a name like Lonnie Walker that’s a player who’s not going to give you the three like Doug mcdermit but he’s going to be able to impact the game more and most likely more so be a part of the playoff rotation as compared to a player like douge mcbuckets should the Sixers sign him an NBA free agency s forign p for pass let us know as always down below in the comment section if standout for the summer Sixers a lot of people didn’t see this name rising to the Forefront and that is keev Aluma some people pronounce his name ke Aluma like the play-by-play announcers from over the weekend in Las Vegas but the majority of the people calling him ke Aluma so we can call him Aluma we can move on if you know let us know down in the comment section because a Google search turned out Kuma more on the player here 69235 he is 25 years old intriguing size profile as for his college path and professional path it has been an interesting one 2017 to 2019 with wford they made a couple of NCAA tournament appearances over time as like a 156 seed then he transfers to Virginia Tech he’s there from 2019 to 2022 2022 2023 he’s playing in the Japan B1 League that is I think the same league that Legend kaoto played in from time to time and then this past year playing in the Korean basketball league and now he’s playing really well in the summer league and these International leagues aren’t even some of the best International leagues in the world which is why what he’s doing right now is pretty impressive at Watford he averages sub five points per game five rebounds 63.9% from the field 0% from three he goes to Virginia Tech and the numbers explode 15 a half points per game seven rebounds 52% from the field and 34% from downtown is he a late bloomer is this a mirage what he’s been able to do has been very impressive and you think back to how it all kind of started in the Salt Lake City summer league in Utah against OKC 12 points eight boards five of five from the field one of one from three I think he impressed the coaching staff and some people were like we actually have to recognize what he’s doing foll in night 17 minutes 15 points 7 of n from the field one of three from three yeah we got to keep them on the floor the Salt Lake City finale 16 minutes six points two of six from the field one of three from three and then in Las Vegas on Saturday night 22 minutes 19 points eight rebounds eight of 10 from the deck and two of two from three so Chip is it a mirage is this a hot shooting streak do the Sixers have a diamond in the rough Late Bloomer player here who could go from playing in Korea to maybe the NBA and earn that last two-way spot very interesting stuff yeah look I mean just based off how he’s played these first four games of Summer League like I have to believe he’s in consideration for that last two-way spot I mean Jeff DT’s been really good as well and so there’s a very good chance he grabs that spot but maybe another team is looking at Jeff dowon or maybe another team is looking at Aluma here regardless I think he’s played well enough to earn himself some NBA consideration he’s been extremely extremely efficient he has that great size of 6′ n but also able to stretch out to the three-point line which I don’t think is a mirage because even though he didn’t have that at wford he did display that development at Virginia Tech he’s very smart he’s very aware on the court he clearly knows what he’s doing out there and he’s looked like the Sixers third best player honestly after Ricky Council and Jeff dowon I would say Luma has been their third guy and again has that intriguing size profile Sixers are looking to continue to get those big wings he’s kind of a you know four five hybrid very interesting player so honestly like Jeff dowon is already I think think Jeff D’s 27 at this point so do you want to go with somebody a little bit younger in Aluma you know try to get a little bit more of that upside and you a different position I think Luma even if it’s not for the Sixers has played well enough so far if he keeps it up to earn himself a two-way deal somewhere in the NBA I’m always a fan of these types of stories and that’s partially why I like summer league because sometimes you see these players come out of nowhere speaking of coming out of nowhere how about zier Smith having the dunk of Summer League the former Sixers first round pick who the Sixers traded mcel bridges for he’s still playing he did throw down a poster should the Sixers sign Aluma to two-way contract why for yes and for no as you scroll down
