Meet C Hines: Wolves 2024 Summer League Head Coach

[Music] [Applause] I’m a kid out of Houston man I started uh coaching about 10 years ago so this will be my my 10th year coaching in basketball me and one of my mentors uh we had a a company that had over uh 45 NBA guys and so in the summertimes you know that’s what I would do and then uh went to RGV and was an intern uh learned the NBA game understood the film stuff and you know the NBA terminology and uh stuff of that nature I was driving buses I was washing laundry um then from there uh you know graduated and kind of uh went internationally and went to China for uh three years now so I went to to China for three years coached over there as an assistant coach and um won a championship in my last year there um from there I came to Iowa as an assistant and that was when the pandemic hit we didn’t have a full season um again understanding the NBA uh lingo understanding the NBA way um and so from there Minnesota actually saw something in me gave me an opportunity um to grow within my role and you know now I am where I am now the organization is trusting me you know with this opportunity so um forever grateful for it our opportunity is amazing uh due to the fact that you know uh know not only do you get a head coaching experience but you also get experience to see you know young guys young Talent actually you know grow these guys you know have been in the NBA but this is a chance for them not to only um show that you know they’re ready for the league um but show you know the whole world that you know they can actually play at this level what I’m most looking forward to is just in-game situations you know you can’t get that you know through drills you can’t get that through um you know practice and stuff of that nature you got a crowd that wants another team to win and and you got the other guy on the other side that wants a job so the competitive nature of it is what I’m probably looking forward to the most I think we can win it all honestly uh and and we have we have talent um you know we have speed uh we have toughness you know one of the things that you know I’m going to preach to this team is you know how can we make everybody around us good so um with that being said it’s sharing the ball sharing the floor playing hard for each other and you know number more defense in the league you know we have to keep that nature you know I think Rob is a really Dynamic guard you know speed his handle he can shoot he can score you know I think that uh will definitely help us um you know he has to understand learn how to to make his team better and he will at with time um he’s going to have a great role model and Mike um I think uh TJ is going to be um uh super ready to play um super athletic bring some toughness to him um um great speed in the open floor uh so I think both of these guys can definitely help us guys like Josh mayot guys like alenny um you know these guys you know have been in the NBA but this is a chance for them not to only um show that you know they’re ready for the league um but show you know the whole world that you know they can actually play at this level [Music]
