he’s uh the big basketball Insider uh for us here at FS1 and also does play byplay I think of some of these Summer League games right or was it team you would say what are you doing a a variety of games some pre- Olympic stuff I’m I’m doing a world feed of serpy in Australia a game being playing Abu Dhabi today some peach jam later this week I’m going to see LeBron’s other son tomorrow Bryce Bry look at you you why do we talk about the first son uh bronnie uh why don’t we who uh let’s just I think we have video we could show you here John bronnie again tried a couple three-point shots yesterday and they’re getting worse they’re not getting better as the airballs the corner three uh after missing a layup by 40t which I’ve never seen before uh here’s that coming up the corner three nothing but air and then he had another one from about 30 feet out nothing but air he has not made a three-point shot yet his defense is not as good as what a lot of people sold us it would be but he’s really good at Call of Duty so this is not good it’s getting worse and to me we’re now at a very dangerous line here for the Los Angeles Lakers and JJ reick who a couple days ago was comparing him to actual NBA players how in the world are they going to sell basketball fans but more importantly Lakers fans that a kid who cannot play at this level is going to be on the roster Jaylen Brown is all of us this is an mitigated disaster Jay Brown unmitigated disaster yep we’re past that dangerous line you don’t have to sell Lakers fans at the end of the day you don’t owe much to the fans you have to sell the other teammates if I am on this Lakers summer league team I’m ticked off I’m annoyed I’m frustrated this kid is getting on the floor he is not an NBA player he he was never an NBA player heading into the draft we knew that this was going to happen that he was going to get taken by the Lakers but the bar was set low the bar was set low we talked David you said heading into summer league he had to do one thing competently just make some three-pointers just keep comfortable how’s that going well it’s kind of like failing a class you know when you fail a class and you say classx have you ever had the teacher say to you you know it’s kind of hard to fail my class like you have to actively try to fail the class or no we just not okay he made it look easy they were like f is an a over for 15 yeah it’s harder to to to potent that’s harder than going two for 15 it to me guys this is just a mess and I I look at this whole situation and it’s sad because when he had his cardiac incident last summer yeah they his Camp should have automatically said you know what let him have a year to just enjoy his life a gap year instead this is a disaster yeah and look now you’ve got look you know like like our my buddy Doug gotley was coaching whiskey Green Bay said look he couldn’t start for me he he probably make the team but he wouldn’t start for me you you obviously we all talk about Danny Hurley uh you know at Connecticut couldn’t play for Hurley’s team you said that a few weeks ago and now that you’re where I think they’re at a dangerous places he’s done what most of us thought he would do and that’s embarrassed himself and I think you all of a sudden for all the other guys that aren’t getting the same opportunities and looks cuz they’re last name isn’t James they’re going to resent the kid he’s embarrassing the organization yes Rob pinka and JJ reick they stand before us and they give us these outlandish excuses of how or or when he’s going to be a good or competent NBA player and it’s never going to happen so now they have to answer some questions what’s the justification for giving this man a fully guaranteed contract at the second round of the 55th pick you have to explain that to me sure it’s everybody else and here’s why they’re not going to cuz there’s a level of hubris with Rob Pena and clearly JJ reic who’s a douche knuckle all day long where they think they know more basketball than everybody else and basketball is the interesting sport where every diard fan US included all feel like we know as much basketball as anybody on the planet and we can have a PhD level conversation about basketball cuz we love it so much and we watch it so much and and like you always say pla the tape don’t lie don’t lie we know that he can’t play look we knew he couldn’t play at this level and now he’s just confirming what we knew and I just think of the last month in change for the Los Angeles Lakers Dan Hurley got on a plane and went out to California yes he met with them seriously but when I talked with him he said the idea of control I have all the control in the world at Yukon with the Los Angeles Lakers you have zero control LeBron James has all the control and I think about this now do you guys wonder if JJ reick wakes up EA says some things out in the in the public about bronny James whatever wakes up and thinks man I was really enjoying life in TV calling the NBA finals and now I’ve got headache after headache after headache this is an elephant in the room situation guys it’s not going to go away but what can he do about it he can’t do anything about it but my point is my point is the Lakers needed JJ re more than man if I’m going to play on this team it’s not fair to me because because we are not putting the best players on the floor to to compete to win the Western Conference or to compete to win a world championship that’s it it it’d be one thing if the Los Angeles Lakers were close to a championship and maybe we’re a top five or six team they’re not they’re far from a top 10 team in the NBA they’re not a winning team they’re not a title Contender and now they got to put up with a dad and his son and you’ve got a coach going out there who’s so far up LeBron’s ass in JJ reick that he came out and said two things he said number one that Brony has earned this and number two he said he’s going to be lud Dort now for those you that don’t know who L Dort is Lou D’s a 5year Pro Oklahoma City Thunder he’s like a 13 and5 guy contributes right about a 35% three-point shooter and he helps he’s a he’s a role player on a very good basketball team and his key for them off the bench this kid ain’t Lou Dort L Dort should demand an apology he should L Dort is owed an apology I agree with you 100% it it’s just it’s unfathomable to think that we’ve gotten to this point but you know why we’ve gotten to this point because LeBron James at one point put out there on social media that his kid was better than some of the guys in the NBA here’s that tweet from March the 6 2023 man bronnie definitely better than some of these cats I’ve been watching on league pass today lightweight hilarious LeBron what league pass were you watching International I mean Australian I don’t New Zealand what league pass were you watching you created this monster LeBron James has had a legendary career nobody’s going to take that away from him people say that the decision was his worst hour no he’s a father you set your kid up for failure when you sent that tweet yep no doubt now here’s the before we move off of bronny here uh how do how do you think it plays itself out do you think he’s on the Laker roster at the start of the Season cuz remember and I say this all the time the dream was not I hope my kid makes it to the NBA the dream was I am playing with my son is he on the Laker roster the the the longer this goes no no he’s embarrassing himself I don’t I’m not sure he finish summer league so then the dream never gets realized unless unless LeBron plays Summer League game they bring LeBron the office say you’re going to play with your son but he’s not not not not game one we’re going to put him in the G league and you he might even be next year I got an idea go ahead okay yeah so I don’t think that he starts uh I don’t think that he plays in game one I don’t think he’s on the game one roster but this whole uh theatrical dance of LeBron and his son how about this for you paint this picture go ahead ladies and gentlemen coming this Christmas the jameses a Christmas special from Los Angeles the NBA gives them a wonderful game in Los Angeles in Prime Time on the big networks and we get to see a father and his son T night and what they’ll do is they’ll have him play the Pistons so that you can at least explain why bronnie on the cour I’m I’m sitting here looking at this from a JJ Rd perspective I think the sad part about it all is that he has to put this man on his on his basketball team he won’t and put him out there on the basketball knowing that he’s not an NBA play that’s how he got the job you have to put him on the team yeah well like he’s been the not not because you want to but remember this because you have to ever since the night before the draft the spokesman for the LA Lakers talking about bronny James has not been LeBron it has been JJ reic publicly JJ reck’s the mouthpiece of the family in regards to Brony James being on the club there’s an old line I heard many years ago and JJ reck is living against it and it is it goes something along the lines of as a man I’d rather die on my feet than live on my knees right JJ reck is living on his knees but JJ reck didn’t need the Lakers that that’s the other thing about this it’s not like he needed the Lakers head coaching job there were people in NBA circles I was talking with during this Lakers search that said look the Lakers it’s not the job that it once was right and there could be other jobs that come along that are better situationally for a firsttime head coach that’s why when you look at the Lakers situation right now we know that LeBron James has has earned the control that he has I don’t believe he has but go ahead but but but the fact is is that when you look at the state in this organization as a result of that it’s a mess meanwhile pla was making the point yesterday good point that you’ve had some Superstars come out of this summer league whether it’s a connect whether it’s Tyler KCK uh for the Knicks there’ have been some dudes Shephard there have been guys balling in the summer league but I’ve got a Counterpoint to that I agree with you that there have been some stars that have come out but if you look at Zachary Reas and Alex SAR the top two picks in the draft I’ve never seen a summer league where we’ve talked less about the top two picks theft that’s because they’re French it’s not just because they’re French it’s not just because they’re French it’s because they’re not even playing well they’re not playing well but we don’t have we don’t criticize them to the same level that we’re doing with a 55th Pi because it’s a different story James was not in this
